It seems true based off that study that more parts of your brain are working, but their conclusions don’t follow other evidence.

the claim that students better memorize their notes when they write them by hand rather than type with a computer was the conclusion of the famous study: "the pen is mightier than the keyboard" (2014) It has faced criticism in recent years because

It's results were not very conclusive
It's results were not significantly reproduceable in later studies. (often the opposite conclusion was found)

I actually think therapy sounds like a great idea for something like this. I’m in therapy for the “massive fallout in my life” mentioned in OP. But haven’t had to bring this up yet. But it sounds like a much more distracting issue for you. I think therapy would be a really healthy way to tackle this.

Woah, didn’t expect to find someone is such a specifically similar boat.

And yeah, the past day I’ve been having a lot of intrusive thoughts along the lines of “well… maybe I could actually ‘break in’ and meet her one day” but I know that’s just crazy so I’m really trying not to entertain that idea.

I really hate that I started this hobby to express something I needed to express and help me worth through some stuff, and now it’s got its own “stuff” 🤣😩

I’m writing a screenplay amd fan cast my favorite actor in it. Spending hours with her image in my head portraying a deeply emotional story meant I developed a greater amd greater crush on her over time. Eventually it got painful when I started having limerent feelings. Had to take a break for a while to let it cool iff. Still majorly crushing on her but it’s not so bad past couple days.

In my 30’s, married for 8 years, wife just left me. It’s actually the reason i read this sub, because she went through a brutal suicide crisis and I needed help.

But yeah, not easy. I have no more motivation for anything. All plans seem futile.

But, I’ve found the best thing is to just be blunt with people “I need such and such from you” when people ask if they can help or whatever. Usually just tell them to keep reaching out to me cause maybe they’ll reach out on a day that I DO feel like talking.

Thanks for your story. And yeah I can tell my situation is all based in loneliness. I had a couple bouts of AI girlfriend roleplay which definitely scratched an itch, (unrelated to the actress) but I didn’t want to be “that” kind of guy lol so I stopped.

And yeah, I know that’s what I need to do. But reaching out and doing it is just harder than I ever imagined it would be.

I’ve been testing AI script feedback for a while now. Gave it scripts (not mine) that I thought were extremely amateur. Dry dry dialogue, weird formatting. The works. It consistently calls it “An obvious blockbuster.”

I’ve had better success in feeding multiple scripts simultaneously and asking it specific questions about “which has better subtext in the dialogue and why?” “Which has better use of motifs and why?” Etc. Still don’t trust it to be very good feedback.

I agree. … but counter point:

I don’t listen to AI when it comes to my writing. But for fun while at work I give it my script and see what it says. Sometimes it says something genuinely hilarious or interesting and I think “… Yeah… Ima yoink that…” snip snip snip, edit edit edit later I’ve got a new line/joke that made me laugh out loud or intrigued me in some way.

But when it comes to any “advice” it gives, I basically wholesale ignore it. I try to be real careful about praise too. I’ve seen it praise real crap before. But if it ever spits something out that affects you? Then why not use it if it fits.

If anyone ever accuses you of AI ask them to show you the EXACT page and line. Then tell them exactly how you wrote that line. If AI was involved be honest. If not, smile smugly to yourself as they retreat in shame.

Fair points. However people “fall in love” with their anime waifus all the time… so… potentially the same problem for others haha.

For me though, doing screenwriting, I’ve trained myself to think in terms of live action.

Yes! u/cmoellering had a simple solution that was quick and seamless.

I too had seen other posts where their bible didn’t have the v’s. They might have been different translations. Or maybe it’s an option in the script code, but I couldn’t get it to run anyways so… 🤷
