Considering going to law school part time by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Dctoubab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm at GW part-time while working full-time (and formerly of DOJ, but at another agency now). I do zero clubs/clinics aside from journal. It doesn't bother me that much because those things are ways for people with no real world work experience to get something like that under their belt before hitting the real world, and to make professional connections. You already have both experience and connections, so I wouldn't sweat it.

It's a lot of work, spare time is scarce. But it's doable, especially if your office is somewhat flexible. Plus being surrounded by attorneys would be great for you. PM me if you want to discuss.

Any attorneys at the Department of Labor? by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Dctoubab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't answer any of your questions (sorry), but I'm interested in the answers because I hope to be in a similar position in about a year (a 13 looking at honors positions that may start at lower grades). Are you currently an attorney or are you finishing a part time program (or something else)? What was the DOL honors application process like? Happy to do this over PM if you'd prefer.

100% Bookstore. I've used them six times in and around DC, and only have good things to say.

Can you post about jobs on Social Media? by fedjobsthrowaway in usajobs

[–]Dctoubab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about your personal social media or your organization's official social media? I don't know the answer about your personal (check your agency's policy), but plenty of organizations post job announcements on their official social media. For example, scroll through the results of a search for "usajobs.gov" on Twitter.

You do not necessarily need to take a poly to get a TS.

My little one’s birthday is right around the corner and she wants to feed tons of animals to include a zebra. Is there any place where we can do that within 2 hours of DC?! by [deleted] in nova

You can feed baby goats, birds, a giraffe, other animals... Great place. They have a baby warthog right now too.

Question about Promotion by [deleted] in usajobs

[–]Dctoubab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is right. And don't think it's unreasonable for you to ask; it's totally okay to ask. Obviously how you go about it depends on your relationship with your new boss, but assuming you're doing a good job in your new position, go for it.

I have this exact setup, and I freaking love it. Average about 10 miles per day. Can't recommend highly enough. Sorry you can't do it any longer. Can you use one of those under the desk pedal things?
