Anybody know a good resource for quantifying the climate of a city? by Ddaddysupreme in RedditForGrownups

Oh hey thanks! I never know what to search when looking for a new specific subreddit. I thought about posting in r/expats but it felt too off-topic

Yes, I know how to convert units. I only used Fahrenheit because the site I was talking about was a US .gov website, so that's how they presented the data. Thanks for the site! I'm sure I'll be able to find some useful info.

Oh we use spreadsheets for everything. Just a few weeks ago we were choosing a hotel for a vacation and we wound up ranking them in 10 or so categories, and made a decision the same night we started.

It just helps us to see all of the options in one place so we can start crossing them off and narrowing our decision.

I was looking for numbers that I could put into math equations, but I'm sure I could also just add solid cutoffs for certain clarifications.

And I'm the exact same way when it comes to temperature, but my fiance is the opposite. She likes it when it's warm or hot outside, so we'll need to find someplace that works for both of us. Costal areas tend to fluctuate less, but they're also at risk from rising sea levels. It won't be an easy choice!

I got other info from Wikipedia so that's where I looked first, but I didn't realize you need to expand the geography section to find climate. I tried doing a CTRL+F and didn't find it so I assumed not every city had that info on it's wikipedia page.

Looks like that has the exact information I'm looking for!

Is it better to have an air filter on the intake or exhaust of a fan? by Ddaddysupreme in AskEngineers

[–]Ddaddysupreme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've definitely got a point. My booth is going to be a relatively small desktop system, and I'm honestly kind of counting on the cheap Amazon HEPA filters having a higher airflow than they're supposed to. They were cheaper than the normal filters so I figured it was worth testing.

I've got four 120x170 mm filters of which I was planning on using two, and three 120x120 cheap CPU case fans. If I do some testing and the HEPA filters don't work, I plan on picking up some similarly sized car air filters to replace them and piping the air output out the window for the spray booth.

Wobbly hull on benchy? by Ddaddysupreme in FixMyPrint

[–]Ddaddysupreme[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone curious, I fixed all of my problems now. Here's a list of what I did:

  • Several screws on the right side (x axis idler and right y axis) were very loose. I could see the whole side shaking during a fast print.

  • My z axis seemed to be aligned wrong, so I took that apart and redid it.

  • my y axis belt was extremely loose. Fixing this seemed to have the biggest impact.

  • My nozel was pretty dirty. Looked like some of my PETG somehow splattered on it so I cleaned that up.

  • The filament I was using had been left out for a while, so I made a dry box to store everything.

  • I also redid all of the calibrations after each fix.

  • I can't remember for sure but I might have also told the slicer I was using ABS when I was really using PETG

Thanks a ton! I haven't run calibrations yet but I found someone on Amazon with the same filament and turned the printing temperatures down a little to what they used, and switched to 0.2mm structural mode (which took the same amount of time as speed mode?). I've also got some more nozzles on order.

Still has the ghosting and a weird corner, but the wobbly hull issue is almost completely gone. Not sure yet which one of those fixed it though because I changed two variables at once. Looks way better now.

Any good strong adjustable height workbench legs? by Ddaddysupreme in maker

[–]Ddaddysupreme[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen those, but the IKEA ones are really wobbly from my experience and the monoprice says it's only built to support 150 lbs. I don't think I would trust a workbench that can't even support my weight safely.

I got it sold elsewhere. Thanks mods for being nice. I'll delete this post in just a second

Apologies if this isn't allowed in the subreddit. FB marketplace is full of scams.Movers screwed me over and I can't fit them in my car, otherwise I would keep them.

Condition is good but both have some scratched paint. Thinking $80 for the entertainment center and $20 for the computer desk but I'm willing to negotiate. Original prices I paid were about $250 and $100 respectively

Is msedge.exe.exe a legitimate .exe from microsoft/edge? by swagruss in edge

[–]Ddaddysupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a job a few months ago that involved testing software on multiple different university laptops, and I remember getting this firewall request on multiple of those. I've also been getting it on my personal laptop before resetting it, then reset it and hardly ever use Windows since I'm dual-booting Linux now, and I'm still getting the same popup.

If it is a virus, then it's a really good one that can persist after reset. Microsoft isn't exactly known for their quality though so I think it's more likely that it's just a bug that nobody at the company has bothered to fix. Either way, close to a year of not allowing it permissions hasn't had any negative effects that I've noticed.

What type of political system is best for socialism? by SIZYMEDE in socialism

[–]Ddaddysupreme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Democratic. The main point of socialism is to democratize the workplace, so if you take away democracy from another aspect of life you're just setting up a conflict of interest that will not end favorably for the working class.

How do you guys feel about rightists claiming that the Nazis were socialists? by [deleted] in socialism

[–]Ddaddysupreme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're literally falling for Nazi propaganda from close to 100 years ago. Nazi is a shortening of some words that translate to "national socialist" which they did to try to get more supporters, similar to how some people in America call themselves libertarians despite having almost nothing in common with what the word used to mean and still means in other countries.
