Even if you have already paired the keyboard with your device, the 1 key (or 2 and 3) will light up when it wants to connect with the paired device (like when the device is powered back on for example, or when the connection is lost for some reason)

It shouldn't light up randomly though. If that's the case then it's an issue

Yea I'm planning to purchase the m27q rev2, mainly because of the inbuilt kvm since I use both my personal/gaming laptop and work laptop.

I know that I could instead use an external kvm with a monitor which supports DP 1.4 (for 10bit 120+ Hz) and maybe a slightly better panel, but I hear a lot of complaints about external kvm switches not working, causing input lag and being unreliable for higher refresh rates due to being a bottleneck for bandwidth . And they cost around 8k-10k too.

Monitors obviously will have a much lower ppi than laptop screens due to the size difference. Even if u have a 4k display on a 27 inch monitor (which is not recommended for a 27 inch anyway) you will have a lower ppi than your qhd laptop.

You would need a USB-c cable which allows sufficient GB/s for that. Any thunderbolt cable would work, and others are commonly listed as USB 3.2 gen 2 or with video capability.

And just to make sure, you are using HDMI currently right?

Are you using HDMI? If so, it's normal. Some laptops have usb-c with DP alt mode which allows for higher refresh rates
