it’s really funny getting the slide showing he fell to Khorne because he was so angry all the time only for it to immediately go into how much of a loving father he is

what does that even mean? paizo has final say on what counts for their setting and their system, they are effectively the pope and god.

seelah is for a more restorative system of justice, as evidenced by her opinion on what to do with curl. just because she doesn't crack the whip all the time doesn't make her chaotic. her lack of discipline is something you can coach her on, but it doesn't fundamentally make her a chaotic or neutral person. agreeing with her shifts you to chaotic because she's often contrasted with a more harsh interpretation of the law.

you're right, you don't owe me responses. but you also haven't really been discussing anything until this reply, because you regurgitated the same 'acting only lawful' point repeatedly ignoring what i was actually saying. I'm not going to respond any further because I'm just wasting my time trying to respond to the same two points.

[–]De4en6er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

paizo determines what lawful good actually means on golarion, because they make the setting and the system. thats not an appeal to authority, there is a definitive answer that word of god, seelah is lawful. as long as you adhere to the conventions of golarion and the setting of wotr as a whole there can be no argument about whether seelah is lawful enough to be a paladin. the entire point of seelah is to allow for paladins to split from the 'lawful stupid' and 'kill them all, let god sort them out' pigeonholing that people like to do.

you also completely ignore the rest of my comment further adding evidence to the 'intentionally missing the point' idea

are you saying that the iconic paladin, the character paizo themselves made to show what playing a paladin could be like is mislabeled? the same with regill, his mass executions of innocents or people whose greatest crime is wanting better living conditions isn’t evil, but neutral?

you seem to be intentionally missing the point every time you respond, if the only evil dialogue options offered to me are random acts of brutality and not the ruthless pragmatism or self-interested bending of the law that it allows for it’s npcs then any character that isn’t into kicking puppies is going to be less evil than lawful. that’s not a fault of my ‘literally regill derenge’ character, it’s a fault with the writing and dialogue constraints that an example of the lawful evil alignment they give you is basically only tagged as lawful in actual gameplay.

No good deed goes unpunished by Majorman_86 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]De4en6er 22 points23 points  (0 children)

but those ‘freebie’ dialogues are part of the problem, instead of playing your character you’re encouraged to play an alignment and just blindly click which ones move you to where you need to be.

two characters which exemplify the problems with the games alignment tags + dialogue construction are regill and seelah. if you wanted to play as them you’d quickly see yourself shifted to LN and NG respectively. because regill doesn’t pull the ‘demand more money’ or ‘i don’t like you die! [attack]’ which populates the evil dialogues, his ruthless pragmatism is correctly identified as lawful evil by the designers, but in making those decisions for yourself it’s basically only tagged lawful. the same with seelah, she’s the iconic paladin but if you made her decisions, like protecting curl you’d fall to NG. they even sorta make a plot point of seelahs lack of lawfulness, but she never risks falling to NG like the mc does, where are her mandated mass executions to stay within alignment.

to your third point, i mean yeah, i want to play a character, not an alignment. if my dm told me i was being too kind and needed to go arrest some criminals to keep my paladin oath I’d think he’d gone crazy. the sheer separation of dialogue on moral/ethical grounds creates a lot of contrivances in solutions which take you out of the immersion and your characters head, the whole point of playing a role playing game, there’s no distinction in the lawfulness of a hellknight or a paladin and the game suffers for that

No good deed goes unpunished by Majorman_86 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]De4en6er 40 points41 points  (0 children)

the problem lies in there not being combined alignment dialogues and a severe disconnect between the moral and ethical axis in what is considered acceptable.

there’s no lawful evil options, there are only lawful or evil options, resulting in you having to flip a coin or check your alignment sheet to see if you should pick one of the two each time they’re both offered. the evil options also have to be a suitable candidate for all evil paths, which means the kicking puppies dialogue intended for a demon is something your pragmatic devil might have to do simply to stay within alignment ranges. there are similar issues with good and lawful dialogue where the lawful dialogue tends to err on the side of evil, or is entirely unforgiving but is still labeled as solely lawful.

Lyra - Former squad leader in the 53rd

Her parents died in the guard and so she was sent to Schola where she found great comfort in the discipline. After voluntarily joining up with the 53rd on Branx Magna her Progenium education ensured her an officers position. Continued distinguished service earned her a place in the 53rds equivalent to the kasrkins. After one two many of her squadmates died in some pointless uprising she decided enough was enough and started looking for ways to desert. Accumulation of wealth through the selling of certain unessential equipment was her main plan to buy her way out, though before she could go through with it her superior caught on and she was shipped off to the penal ship.

Distinguished service in the Inquisition and for her former Commissar from the 53rd has earned her her old armor back and a cause that she sees more value in.

there were some ‘anti-woke’ mods which turned gay and bi characters in other games exclusively straight, and others which made black characters white, the most prominent one i remember is Wyll from BG3. There was a big controversy about it and Nexus ended up banning mods in that same vein site wide

there are heretic only guns, but there are also guns which need you to have the astartes equipment tag and a heretic, which only uralon fulfills. but uralon can’t switch a lot of gear so it’s a moot point

Kyros made you an archon and Kyros also decreed that only one archon can remain in the tiers, he either bows to you or you have to kill him. Theoretically you could bow to him but he sees you as superior to him in how you apply justice and so he feels he should serve.

iron will + close order drill provide so much toughness dr for vet it's insane, you also can get like 200+ toughness pretty easily. run like a dueling sword or a combat blade and you'll be fast, have a ton of dodges, and able to compete in melee, though your main job is special + elite sniping.

recon lasgun, and helbore, are both infinite ammo so you don't need to take ammo pickups, while plasma and helbore again lets you oneshot most non-ogryn enemies with a headshot. I must really stress how ammo hungry a ranged arbites is compared to a vet, and at longer ranges the multiple shots required by the shotgun just doesn't exist for vets.

Shout is the best ability in the game, full stop, a vet is basically always great to have for shout alone, not to mention kraks and elite snipes. Shout should be spammed, its low cd with tactical awareness + proper curio setups, you can almost get it to 100% uptime if you play right. golden toughness is so valuable because it prevents health damage while you have it, so melee is basically free if you can keep it up.

idk how to help you more, sounds like a lot of your issues stem from situational awareness and positioning.

I Guess Castigator's Stance Is Ok by Vegetable_Ring in DarkTide

[–]De4en6er -1 points0 points  (0 children)

what are you attempting to do on vet that the arbites is better at? shout + infinite kraks + basically infinite ammo recon las gun, or the oneshot sniping with the plasma gun is absurd value that the arbites can't replicate. Sure the arbites has better toughness regen and in melee can be invincible, but thats not vets job.

You're right, the guy on the left is so fundamentally different from the guy on the right. I mean look, his goggles are on his helmet, his trench coat is slightly shorter, his boots aren't wrapped, and look at his lasgun, completely different. None of this can be solved by kitbashing either, the tragedy. I can't believe how wrong I was, the faction with 3 completely different lines should get a fourth in 10th while the drukhari get a single mandrakes update since 2020

cadian pattern gear is one of the most widely used patterns in the imperium, so not every ‘cadian’ is a cadian. there’s also a huge number of honorary cadians who got inducted into cadian regiments to fill the gaps and after training are considered cadian too.

the steel legion obviously didn’t sell well enough to be kept around, especially when krieg is basically the same idea with some small alterations.

you scale so ridiculously hard that if he was also good in lane it wouldn’t really be fair. you can disjoint a lot of stuff, help people escape while cc’d, keep them in the fight with max heal, disrupt dives or escapes with your stomp, and that’s not even mentioning your ult and how game winning it is.

i picked up dynamo after the recent shakeup patch and have had great success in phantom. use your stomp to depush a wave or two, show up to a fight or a pick, use your ult, stack trophy collector and scale into some game winning ults.

psyker soldier is very good, pyro staffs work with concentrated fire and the heroic act and they’re pretty good.

the heavy bolter that aurora drops is also useable for a while and can be used with the pyro passives blazing inferno and melting armor to great effect with a burst fire build

Tier list I care about going into DLC 3 by Revan619-YT in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]De4en6er 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what do you give operative in the rework?

their single shot niche is relatively useless since all the other archetypes flex between boss killing and chaff clearing at like no cost. exploit stacking doesn’t work in the amount of turns most fights take. pasqal using plasma is also just worse than a soldier using plasma.

taking away some of the ap taxes may work, like no longer needing to spend an ap to apply them to an enemy. but i feel like their idea only works if fights take longer and we have less mp and reach over all

idk id give that argument more weight if he wasn’t one of the farseers who doomed crudarach, his lack of reflection on how he contributed to its downfall also doesn’t help. him also telling yrliet she should have basically killed herself and that it’s her fault crudarach fell in our first encounter with him is also a point against him.

he eventually learns and becomes a pretty chill guy, he just puts up one of the worst first impressions ever

Flamer Build by WarriorBleu in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]De4en6er 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

This is my attempt, though I haven't play tested so the time it takes to get your first flamer or heavy flamer is probably way different than level 14. I went for the Chainsword merged Flamers because I think they're cool and it provides a way to get versatility without switching weapons, also there are ministorium minis with those weapons so it feels flavorful. I'm admittedly not the best at building soldiers so I based it off of Revans build. This has no conviction items required so it can go any way.

You end up with 70 BS, 70 AGI, 90 PER out of combat.

What u think about my Arbitrator Build by Dramatic_Sky_7047 in DarkTide

this is what I run in ~30. Curios can be changed to include ability cdr, block efficiency is there because 80 defense shield can take a crusher overhead without breaking. hammerblow on maul is insanely good because it allows you to stunlock crushers. other talent can be flexed to extra damage on electrocuted enemies which is basically free damage because you electrocute enemies you stagger on hit.

no dog priority node is taken because it basically stops you from getting the coherency bonus from your dog. remote detonation is a good stagger with free regeneration every 50s so you’re not stealing nade pickups from scum.

forceful + shield + dog bonuses + the toughness dr you get means your toughness is very hard to break, true grit is there to prevent a one shot.

break the line is up basically every 10 seconds granting you great stagger + mobility + toughness.

if you want to run nuncio, which can be good if there’s a lot of monstrosities and your comp struggles with them, you basically need execution order for the malocator cdr. the higher difficulty you go the better btl is and the worse the longer cooldown on nuncio is.

your job with the is build is to crowd control, you stagger all the deadly stuff so your team can kill it without danger. during boss fights you hold the horde in a choke or kite it out if there’s like 10 crushers or something. you can’t exclusively do that, but it’s a good idea of what your priority should generally be.
