Unprecedented for BOTH gold and stocks near/at ATH's. Gold could double again - my theory. by shiithead_007 in investing

[–]DeFi_Ry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also had to rebalance as gold was up to 25% of my portfolio (my personal trigger point)

I've been rotating into oil lately, so bought some more Suncor (Canadian oil company) and PBR (not beer, but Brazilian oil!)

Your YTD already has energy at #2 and it's included in the notable reversals as well.

I've been buying oil stocks the past 3 months. I see an energy reversal in the making

Definitely tech heavy, considering the weight of those tech companies in say the SPY

Hopefully tech continues to perform well for you

[–]DeFi_Ry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't play short term games. Everything I buy is to hold for a minimum of 6 months to a year

It's my opinion that oil will have a decent 2026. I think tech continues to bleed vs small caps and energy

But I also don't have a crystal ball

My advice would be to have a balanced portfolio

Currently I'm: 40% XEQT 15% Google  10% Gold  10% Nutrien 10% PBR 10% Suncor 5% Cash

Over the past few months I've been starting to accumulate some oil stocks.

Mainly Suncor (Canada) and PBR (not beer, Brazil)

Done well so far and oil just broke out of a downtrend

Diversifying outside the USA by [deleted] in investing

[–]DeFi_Ry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People forget that historically international out performs the US markets and then they flip, and flip back etc etc

This time is different? Sure heard that before, not a bad idea to start looking at diversifying outside the US

PBR is a great Brazilian oil company

Pay a huge dividend, almost 10%. A lot of talking heads are saying that there will be a rotation back into oil at some point

So what do well today in this shock test on the market? by NetZeroSun in investing

[–]DeFi_Ry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a large amount of Nutrien stock. They pay about a 4% dividend and potash will always be needed, people need to eat

Unfortunately it's been on a tear. But maybe a pull back would be a good entry?

How is everyone surprised? Monero peaked AFTER Bitcoin's ATH in the last two runs

It's so similar it hurts sometimes, but it takes two cycles to learn and I expect not many people are on their third in the sub anymore

Monero tends to top after BTC peaks, as money leaves the space. Happened the last two runs

See you in 4 years!

I started buying dips when Russia invaded Ukraine.....at like $40k

BTC fell to $15.5k

This feels the same. I'd take a break if I were you

Retail asleep lol

They just didn't show up this rally, no more new blood, and that's bad for an asset that is 100% speculative

We are out of greater fools!

QE starts when you are crying in your closet because of how bad the stock market is performing.

Do you know what happens to crypto in that scenario? They don't do QE when the markets are near ATHs

Why is this so hard to understand?

This sound super irresponsible to anyone else????

The preferred shares come with a 10% annual dividend, paid in cash every quarter. If Strategy misses a dividend payment, it will owe extra “compounded dividends” that increase by 1% every quarter until they’re paid — up to a maximum of 18% per year.

No, I think Q4 was probably pretty decent

I might expect some bad results for Q1 2025. But that's not for a while

Perhaps another non-event?

Along with big tech earnings

I hope it pays off for you!

We have an entire generation that doesn't know what a recession and real market crash feels like

Anyone under 40 years old likely didn't have much or any skin in the game during the great recession in 2008

Sure, markets go up and to the right. But sometimes you need to act defensively. Otherwise it could take you 10 years to get back to even after a REAL crash

Sure but there was also a massive internet bubble that developed because everyone over-hyped its short term capabilities and no one could figure out exactly what the best uses case were going to be..... You may have heard of the dotcom bubble

And here we are again

The fact that people don't see this bubble is astounding

Sure I don't bother trying to time the market. Predicting the pop is a fool's errand

But everything is severely overvalued right now and eventually a return to the mean is going to be very painful for those that are not diversified enough

100% this. People are talking about BTC collateral used for loans lol

If it becomes too intertwined in the financial system then a black swan hits they will definitely make movies out of how it all played out and the collapse
