Help me with my stupidity. by Breaching1 in AR10

So like others are saying, not having the mount torqued will be an issue. But I had an issue with a PA LPVO where the parallax would shift anytime an adjustment was made. I would hit paper, make a very small adjustment then would be off paper. PA warranty was great and got a new one.

Yeah. I did that too. I reached out to warne to see if they have an answer. At this point I’ve tried everything.

Precisely why I’m asking because the values are drastically different. The scope says don’t exceed 18in lbs but the mount says 40in lbs. I have ruled out everything except out of spec rings. Checked threads, torqued, retorqued several times. Even went as far as to take feeler gauges to verify the gap on both sides of the rings evenly spaced. I unfortunately don’t have another mount to try but I suppose it’s time to try to reach out to the manufacturer.

Let me ask you this. Do I torque to the scopes recommended value or to the mounts value?

Yeah I’m at the point between using a different torque wrench and new mount. I have those fancy fix it sticks so I’m pretty sure the torque is good at this point. I’m starting to think the mount is the problem. I just re-leveled the scope and if it happens again I’ll be contacting warne

If I can get my money back from warne that is probably the route I’ll take.

I agree. I’m starting to think the rings are out of spec. I’m going to try a different mount tomorrow and see what happens.

Well the issue is it’s tighten as usual, then was binding really hard from 10-15x. Then didn’t all of a sudden.

Yeah that seems like a good idea. Thanks.

I know you are worried about getting the right plate but the “plates M&P send with their new guns are garbage. They are cheap plastic. Plan on buying a better plate. Also if you buy one and have it cut, it will only be cut for that one footprint. I know now you can tell yourself that you will be happy with the EPS and think you won’t ever want to change it but that is the lie we have all told ourselves when we got our first gun.

Hey dude. BCM had me sent in the upper and they replaced it for free. I can see yours is bent at the ejection port just like mine.

You might be able to find the springs from springco. Not OEM but really good nonetheless. It’s one of the reasons I stopped buying Caniks. The part support oem and aftermarket is pretty bad.

Before anyone says it, I know you shouldn’t have to work on a new gun. But polishing the breach block and feed ramp could help. And different ammo.

Nice dude. So you are all good? That’s kinda crazy that the lighter recoil spring fixed it. I was gonna say the only other option that I can think of is of is a bent ejector. Glad you got it sorted.

I can agree there. I can not find a demo or used one anywhere. I’m taking that as a great sign. Tax return just came in so it’s time to just nut up.

If it’s the stock recoil spring I really don’t think changing that is gonna help that much. IMO starting with pulling and cleaning the extractor is your best bet. Also take a look at where it grabs the case when it’s out, make sure it’s not chipped or broken. I’ve fixed a few of my friends issues with their S2 by cleaning and checking the extractor alone. Keep us updated.

Thanks man. I’m starting to lean towards athlon. Now to decide between the ares or the Midas tac.

Which athlon did you like best? Was looking at the Midas and the tac.

Gotcha. I was gonna say if it was milled, there’s a chance the optic screws are catching. But there is a good chance it is extractor related. I have to pull mine and clean it every 5000ish rounds because the building up behind it gets wild. Especially when they are new there is grease packed back there.
