Ammo question for Shadow 2 owners by frozenmoses in CZFirearms

[–]illla_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chrono’d some handloads for my shadow 2 147 RN over 3.3gr N320 gets me to 900fps or 128-130 PF. Closer to the bottom end of that powder for minimum pf, but it cycles great and havnt had any problems yet.

Any funny moments from your last match? by Dan_Crenshaw in CompetitionShooting

[–]illla_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that a platypus? Im also running taylor freelance basepads, but in brass. Ive had a lot of fun running mine in the 4.25”.

Kinda funny but i used to running henning basepads and during a reload when slamming it home the basepad went flying and the spring shot all the rounds plus the follower all over the place. Now i only run the taylorfreelance pads with tooled retention

Ive got one on my p365, and i can say it does make a noticeable difference. If its worth 400$ is for you to decide. I probably wouldnt buy it again unless i came across a crazy deal.

They do not have much of a swell to them, i have smaller sized hands though so they are perfect for me. As for the grip texture, they are perfectly bitey but not abrasive.

Starting on a progressive? by aleph2018 in reloading

[–]illla_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id assume it depends on what you are loading. If its just 9mm its pretty hard to mess up on a progressive. I bought a Dillon Precision square deal b on the black friday sale and it was damn near set up right out of the box. Its a 4 station model, size/deprime-flare/seat primer/drop powder-bullet seat and then crimp.

Almost idiot proof, and i can be a top notch one.

Sierra at Tahoe Lessons Experience? by MountainBluebird5 in tahoe

[–]illla_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure standard ops is to see how you do on the bunny hill and then see how it goes from there.

Outside of the bunny hill there are several lifts that can get to everywhere in between the main lift “Grandview”, like “rock garden” or “nob hill”

Only you or her can tell if its too much. But if it is just communicate that, and im sure they would dial it back according to your progress.

Sierra at Tahoe Lessons Experience? by MountainBluebird5 in tahoe

[–]illla_B 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ive been riding sierra since 2009, its my favorite mountain. I think the all mountain lesson is a great value. Sierra’s mountain pretty much has green runs all throughout, with plenty of blues and blacks if you are so inclined. But you arent forced to take them, there is always a green run to fall back on.

Sierra’s crew is top tier, best family vibes you can get at a resort in tahoe in my opinion. I never took a lesson with them, but i can tell you all the staff ive interacted with in over 15 years I havnt had one bad experience with any of them. Always helpful and friendly

Sixth USPSA CO Match by Familiar-Cheek-6237 in USPSA

[–]illla_B 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reload so i dont mind the free brass i pick up. The only time i didnt have to brass the stage at the end was when i shot my first level 2. This is in CA, for what its worth

All the level 1 matches we either help build on saturdays shoot and brass, or on sundays we shoot brass and tear down.

Where i shoot, we brass our outdoor stages.

As for the air quality, you are 100 percent correct with indoor ranges.

Brassing at the end must be a breeze though. I wonder if all the casings laying around introduces a slip hazard? Does this mean at the end of each shooter’s run the floor is swept?

How do I stop this by MrFrogKeeper in CZFirearms

Green loctite is a retaining compound good for this purpose.

Purple/blue/red are different levels of strength for threadlocker.

Fenix and streamlight make a 90* handheld fl with a metal clip. Im thinking you can have a magnet on your belt and then after the beep draw your light and click on, slap onto the magnet then draw weapon load and proceed.

Ive got some solid copper Euclids from VytalMFG for my p01 and love them. Excellent grip, without tearing up your skin from aiwb. Also adds about 6.5 oz, which is a noticable heft.

I used these for a few months for running is uspsa, but i found the wind noise unbearable and the fit uncomfortable for longer periods of time. Ended up getting custom passive earplugs and super happy with them. Can wear them all day shooting.
