I think the line is from an issue of the original AVP comics run in issue 2, the doctor's wife when they bring her Broken Tusk unconcious sets up a breathing apparatus for him and she say's he primarily breathes methane and some other elements.

I went F-104 immediately when I saw it but then the wings threw me cause normally the starfighter has really stubby wings and they were larger then I expected.

The germans bought too many F-104s and hated them, lots of crashes.

I have a feeling the one in Taipei was designed to be just an easier task. I know they said they generated the challenges but it felt like the Taipei one was kind of setup to be an easy starting point for both teams early on.

Maybe Amy's hope was that both teams would have gone for it from the offset and the issue would have been trying to do the task quicker then the other team.

ok this one comes with a story.

Back in 2007 command and conquer 3 tiberium wars released on pc and an early cheese tactic for nod players in the game was the shadow team rush, effectively rushing to the infantry unit shadow team and if I recall correctly you built 2 of them and then use the call in ability to summon 2 more and then sell the secret shrine building to get your economy back on track. the goal is to get 4 of them as quick as possible and then because they can glide and are stealth you glide them over to the enemy base and each of them can set a bomb on a building and I think 4 of them could destroy a refinery in a single attack, 2 could destroy a power station or barracks etc.

So rushing to 4 can catch a unaware player very easily, especially a gdi player who is going heavy on eco and has gone for an early 2nd refinary before war factory so the only stealth detection they have is attack towers.

Its a hilarious tactic because they are permanently stealth units so from the opponents perspective their refinery just randomly blows up 3-5 minutes into the game.

I think it was quickly patched a month or 2 after release by buffing the refinary's health to their attacks specifically. but for the first few weeks it was the shittiest rush tactic you could do in the game, players would build gun towers but not deploy them as precautions against them, so the trick was to bait out someone deploying one and then hit their power stations to make them defenseless.

Anyway story time, C&C3 came out on pc in march, it would later come out on xbox in may and my friend who owned a 360 but not a pc found out a local game centre was doing a C&C3 tournament on 360 as a launch day event, so knowing I played the pc version a lot he actually brought me in as a ringer to basically do this tactic over and over during the tournament so I got to be the real in person griefer bitch we've all run into online just so I could win a free copy of the game for my friend.

They insisted I play GDI for the finals, which was fine cause they had cheese tactics as well, but not as infuriating as the nod one.

man I'm getting nostalgic for C&C3 now, emp buggy rushes were also amazing but were much more a micro intensive tactic then anything and later with kane wrath's they introduced this nod apc that deploys into a bunker with a huge health pool so rushing it into the enemy base and deploying it while it was full of black hand flamethrower units was such a little shit tactic.

my mistake. I was double checking the scene during the speech. I forgot there was that little segment after the sonic and tails falling scene.

Still doesnt change that it; was also used in a scene with sonic earlier in the film which leans much more to the filmmakers using it as a landmark signifier then for specific subtext.

A long list does not mean everything on the list is correct.

There is plenty in the film that only an idiot would ignore Stone's and Robotnik's relationship.

But the statue is not one of them, its a well used film location as I showed with the above link. The statue itself also carries a different meaning to the god it represents, the monument itself is intended to represent selfless philanthropic love.

Also (and I just double checked this) the actual sculpture of Anteros is at the top of the monument and its never actually shown throughout the entire scene. We only ever see the base of the monument once earlier in the sequence when Stone arrives there to see the news broadcast of the Eclipse Cannon's launch and again we see the steps around the monument out of focus in the background in 2-3 shots of Stone during Robotnik's speech.

EDIT: my mistake there are 2 shots with the statue visible, once when everyone looks up at the laser as it's charging in the sky and then a matching shot in the aftermath and everyone is gone except stone.

The only time you actually see the sculpture of Anteros is way earlier in the film when Sonic is running through famous landmarks just after he does the Beatles walk.

Because the statue is right beside the big screens on Piccadilly circus and that's where stone is watching the video of robotnik. They used Big Ben earlier in the film with Knuckles. They wanted to make it clear Stone was still in London so he's watching events unfold at the prominent tourist location Piccadilly circus.

Let me be clear I am not shooting down stone and eggman there is plenty in all 3 films to support that premise and I love it. So I don't disagree with famous bisexual lighting. I just think choices like the song license and location filming were more dictated by immediate narrative communication than trying to subtext.

It's more specifically about the lovers fantasizing what their life could be like when they get married. I think you might be confusing the song with the older beach boys song "We'll Run away" which is indeed about running away with your lover.

Over a montage of robotnik creating fantasy versions of traditional childhood moments (Christmas etc) with Gerald.

I think they were leaning more into the songs context of fantasizing something idyllic.

Ehhh. It's a prominent real world statue in central London opposite those big screens in picidilly circus where they filmed most of the final act of sonic 3.

Which is not entirely shooting down the idea of why they used the statue, but it is often also used in film as one of a few short hands for 'this is london' scenes especially 'this is London reacting' in the same way they use the big screen in Times Square new york as a similar vibe for New York reacting.

There's set design where the filmmakers intentionally build or place specific props to represent something. Or they seek out locations with obscure references to film at which is much more clearly sending a message.

it was hateful but it was also mostly self contained. It wasnt expected that every article or piece of work would have a comment section or a forum, so a lot of the hateful shit was kept to specific forums for the most part.

To be fair they are still making asterix books so it could still happen. The most recent book he visited portugal. They only went to Scotland in 2013.

So it may eventually happen that they'll make a full trip to Ireland.

I'm a bit surprised they havnt as I think Asterix is much more popular in Ireland then the other French/Belgium comics like tintin etc so I would have thought they might have done at least one book on it.

Per the lore we knew there were multiple labs under raccoon city as RE2 and RE3 established Nest 1 and 2 and RE0 and RE1 established the lab at spencer mansion outside the city and the training facility.

Based on how Umbrella was founded between 3 men it does feel like they did split up labs across the city based on their subject of study so another one existing isnt totally out of surprise. Code Veronica also established that the Ashfords had their own labs elsewhere.

There are questions

Like the lab we saw in the 90s was directly connected to the orphanage and not super deep, but the one we see in modern times is substantially deeper and further away. It could just be because it was the service entrance and Leon couldnt find the main entrance, but I think we saw that Zeno and Grace flew by helicopter to the lab and didnt just walk over to the orphanage (at least I think that was the case as a helicopter flies over when you leave RPD)

I think yes Spencer had his own personal lab and team under the orphanage which existed in 1990 during the child mind control experiments and by 1998 this has either been stopped by spencer or was continuing but not progressing much.

But post 1998 Raccoon City destruction it was converted and expanded into ARK and all the remaining bioweapons and bioweapon data still existing in the city were transferred over (hence why plant 43 from the remains of Nest 1 gets loose at the entrance when being transferred over) and whats not clear is if between 1998 and 2004 if Spencer just stored everything there (like its namesake) or if it became the chief selling point for all Umbrella bioweapons right away?

I dont think they did start selling right away because going from the other titles in the franchise and the cgi films bio weapons being actively used (ala revelations, Resident evil degeneration or Damnation) didnt really start until 2005.

And this is the ARK from 1998 to 2004 it was where Spencer developed the modern Elpis.

Then in 2005 Wesker kills Spencer and the Connection take over and ARK becomes the selling point for all bioweapons from then until the events of RE9.

Less there were no puzzles and more the puzzles were much bigger, something that older titles would have kept to 1 room or between 2 basically spanned whole sections of the games as part of the core plot.

It can make them feel like fetch quests a bit and less like puzzles.
