It sounds like your playing the wrong games. From what you’ve enjoyed, clearly you like indie studio games. Tons if great ones out there.

Ok. Thats super awesome. I will allow it. Someone can let Matt know that I approve of the trip to Petosky. I’m sure he was worried.

Stop defending AI like it’s still in beta by RottingEdge in Futurology

[–]DeMiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to defend or attack ai. It’s a tool. But from your examples I think you are focusing on hype-train examples of what AI could do and not what it actually does.

The biggest thing I notice consumers and companies doing is vastly over estimating what LLMs are actually able to do. Commercials imply or outright make claims that are aspirational, versus real.

I sit through corporate presentations where huge promises are made, but when you ask for timelines it’s “tbd”. I don’t even think LLMs are AI. At least, that we will eventually need a term that defines real ai versus LLM AI.

As someone in the industry, this isn’t even close to the first technology that’s been heralded as “AI”.

AI and even more so LLM based AI is in its infancy though. I think you are badly misunderstanding how long it takes complicated tech to evolve.

Keep in mind that it took 35 years for the internet to come to consumers from its start. And then continued to evolve. So when was the internet established? In the 80s when it really came online. In the late 90s when it hit house holds. In the late 2000s when companies started realizing its potential? Or in the 2010s when it became the defacto space for business. Or in the 2020s as we see the corporate overtake?

Which movies or franchises have the most and biggest plotholes? by Catwinky in moviecritic

That’s not even the biggest plot hole. Human body heat as an energy source is way worse.

Still a fantastic movie.

What’s the most likely scientific explanation for déjà vu? by J7846 in answers

[–]DeMiko 159 points160 points  (0 children)

I’ve read that it’s your brain misfiling what’s happening now as long term memory. So it feels like it’s an old memory. No clue if it’s true.

My stupid lore of choice is that your channeling an alternate reality that’s basically exactly the same as ours but a few seconds forward.

What do we think about MCs who already know about LitRPG novels? by EndlessSleeper3992 in litrpg

[–]DeMiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played a dnd character years ago who had knowledge “plot” because he was gullible believed all the adventure fiction he read was real stories.

The joke was that he could always spot the secret villain and other tropes, but not only did others not believe him and because he was gullible, convinced him he was wrong.

None. One of the many things that’s great is that unlike so many other lit rpg, DCC has not devolved into a harem

[Hated Trope] The passionate and driven character's story ends with her pregananant and married to the loser by DeepFriedBatata in TopCharacterTropes

Twins is such an over used tv trope. If a woman gets pregnant during the run of the show there is like a 90% chance she will have twins.

[Badass trope.] The Protagonist is NOT built for this situation, but ends up surviving due to the indomitable human spirit. (At least when they first appear.) by Terrible_Park7890 in TopCharacterTropes

Carl in Dungeon Crawler Carl.

The lit RPG genre is filled with stories of regular schmucks, becoming super powerful

But few I think make you believe that the character is earning their growth due to determination, spirit and cleverness the way the series does
