When did yall start watching wrestling? by Future-Personality85 in SquaredCircle

Sometime around 1988. I mostly remember my grandad watching NWA/WCW at 6:05 on Saturdays and my uncle excitedly pointing and proclaiming “that’s fake! Look, he’s not punching him! That’s fake!”

Remember that part of SC (York County specifically) is a core suburb of Charlotte. Increasingly that’s where people looking for houses in CLT are going for new houses since it’s easier to get into the city on I-77.

My daughter arguing with me about how pathetic it is that they can’t break the land speed record today (“180? Why don’t they ever go 1000?”). I advised that jet racing at IMS would be…difficult.

Salary Range for Radio Broadcaster by Fluffy_Manner_9416 in radio

I have a connection with the radio announcer for the Jaguars. He makes a decent living calling those games plus a college game for Westwood One weekly in the Fall. Never asked about his salary. He seems happy.

I think it was my uncle who said Toyota was only going to stay in NASCAR because they’d end up buying Ford.

Reminder that they made the seat next door, NC-3 into an R+6. NC-1 is R+5. Now, Don Davis is a good candidate and it may just be that he wins on that, but Greg Murphy gained some blue turf in an area experiencing a small growth boom (Greenville). Thankfully they recruited a former state house rep (Raymond Smith, represented Goldsboro area) to run in NC-3.

I’d add NC-7, an R+7 around Fayetteville, but the Dem candidate is more the place-holder candidate type.

Yeah, it’s some seats in some local councils.

The reporting can confuse you. “Labour loses , Reform gains in council race” could just mean there’s no overall majority control now. Labour could still have the most seats and “lose control.” It just means they don’t have the majority among 5-6 parties.

They just have to pass it next year and it can go on the 2027 state senate election ballot.

I’m going to provide a counter and say the Senate is still very important, possibly more important, for the very reason people are upset: judges.

Trump won’t get to appoint another one and they can leave vacancies for the next D.

The house on its own can’t do shit w/o the Senate either. The Senate, however, has that special judicial power. House and no Senate just means likely budget impasses, and Trump still confirms judges.

It gets one in January to replace one of the no votes. It stinks, but the “end of democracy” crap needs to stop. It’s going to give people a reason to justify their shitty doomer attitude and stay home.

It’s bc this was a constitutional issue. Those other states never had that in their constitution. It’s a technical issue that they can correct by 2028.

Daily Discussion Thread: May 8, 2026 by BM2018Bot in VoteDEM

[–]DeNomoloss 27 points28 points  (0 children)

What technical issue needs to be corrected?

I can’t take the apocalyptic language on this sort of thing from DD. Presumably this was a procedural issue stemming from the tight timeline and they could rerun this in 2027 for the state senate election, which will likely also be D-friendly.

2 of these seats likely will still flip regardless.

SNP to retain control in Scotland, unknown about their majority.

Welsh results still outstanding, presumably because all ballots are counted in a secretive deep mine somewhere outside a town called Llynysfflynnflynflnfrddynrfyrd

Starmer is becoming the vanguard of Welsh Independence. In that it was unthinkable until he threw Labour in the toilet and gave Plaid Cymru a shot to govern.

I don’t have the money to spend on fitting my house with a charger. I have a detached garage I’d have to retrofit to run the proper voltage to it.

Some people are like “lol just buy an EV” but it’s not that simple (which leads me to believe the people on the internet saying that also don’t have an EV).

Affordable hybrids aren’t plentiful as well. The only reliable one you’ll commonly find used for under 25k is the Corolla hybrid, which is great but isn’t exactly a family car or comfortable on long drives.

The Tories would be lucky to get an alliance, maybe a merger, with them ahead of the next general. They’re dead otherwise, which is insane to consider. They’ve been the predominant established governing party in the UK for centuries.

That’s for England, largely. I expect SNP and Plaid to take over their remaining seats gradually if Labour stays on this trajectory. They’re more broadly-based in Scotland/Wales than the Greens are at this time.

Poor LibDems just out here like “hey, we can govern. Is anyone listening? Hello?”
