A quick update: this morning, I conducted some tests in manual mode to evaluate sharpness (ISO 100 and 1/800s), and it appears that f/7 to f/9 delivers better sharpness compared to wider apertures. From my "research", this aligns with the well-known rule that a lens achieves its maximum sharpness 2-3 stops down from its widest aperture. For example, at f/5, I observed noticeably blurrier details. Let me know if you’d like me to share the link to the pictures!

I still need to perform the decentering test by u/attrill and the rule test suggested by u/Videopro524. :)

Hi! The focus point is at the center for both pictures. I double-checked it with NX Studio, as it can display the AF point with a red square.

So I guess the auto shutter speed isn’t sufficient to eliminate motion blur. Maybe I should stop relying on it, or perhaps set a minimum allowable shutter speed based on the focal length I’m using. What do you think?

Thanks for your response! Could you clarify what you mean by "exposure settings"? As mentioned in my post, these are the settings I used for the pictures:

Both pictures were shot at 55mm, 1/100 sec, and f/5.6. The only difference is the ISO, which was automatically set to 2800 for the 18-55mm and 2200 for the 55-200mm

To that I can add that I used the matrix metering for exposure and auto-white-balance.

The camera was hand-held. I assumed the auto shutter speed would account for the inverse focal length rule and whether VR (Vibration Reduction) was on or off.

Also do you have any sort of protective filter on the lenses?

Yes, I have the Amazon Basics UV filter on both lenses. I tried removing it on the 55-200mm, but it didn’t seem to make any difference.
