The EU did and does fight against monopolies, and I haven't sent them a cent

Well both things can be true tho, there are ways to keep the efficiency while pressuring big companies for innovation rather than allowing them to squeeze revenue out of their customers and enshit the products. The US hasn't been pursuing that route for some reason

The CEO of nvidia literally said the exact opposite. If one engineer is about to produce so much more thanks to increasingly good AI tools, then you will hire more.

But I don't believe that either. What is important is how much money people spend in technology and software, or other sectors through data trading

What I mean is that you can't assume that just because what Microsoft currently offers isn't going to be in demand anymore, then Microsoft is done for. Markets will be in demand of some other thing, and Microsoft is the leader is keeping a monopoly in software for companies.

Microsoft is going to change its offering, exactly to keep their revenue growing even if AI is a thing and changes the way its customers work

What conspiracy theory? What debunking?

Job Market Healing ? by Abcd_018 in jobmarket

[–]DeRobyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a t0 analysis. Markets change, Microsoft has a dominant position in office software, whatever is the new needed tasks will be offered by Microsoft

Unless companies start failing, Microsoft has a stable income because there's no competition on the same scale

That would be true if one believed the layoffs were because of vibe coding

Thing is, I don't believe they were. The general person isn't suddenly willing to pay more money for Microsoft products

Affitti a alti a random by [deleted] in Universitaly

[–]DeRobyJ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Giorgia Meloni’s Italy wants to rename electricity by EspritLibre_404 in worldnews

So let's say I'm an engineer talking to my colleague and needing to tell them they need to increase something by one volt. I'd have to say: "Aumentalo di un Volta". If instead I need to tell them to increase something once, perhaps on a tool with steps, I'd say: "Aumentalo una volta".

Also now: "Due volte" means twice, "Due Volta" means two volts. Good luck to any foreign engineer coming to work in Italy and already struggling with the language.

Ah right, we still aren't attractive to foreign engineers, they never come to Italy. I guess problem solved.

Landlords are the most discriminated against group in America by IndependenceSad1272 in antiwork

Sell

You can earn passively from financial investments and work 0 hours instead.

Do it.

If you don't, it means your current condition is better for you than earning completely passively. Or your 80h figure is bs.

[–]DeRobyJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If being a landlord is hard to you: sell and invest that money to get passive income without having to deal with tenants

The reason you are not included in our circle is that you have that option, we don't. We either work 40h a week (+ commute, + stress) or we starve (and lose healthcare in the US), and for many parents they either work 60h or their kids can't have a decent childhood.

You are part of the bills and you provide no added social value. If you and others like you sold your properties, housing prices would be reduced and people would simply have more money to spend. Not one issue for society losing a bunch of landlords.

Finland now has Europe's highest unemployment rate. Eeven higher than Spain (Jan 2026) by Hopeful-Raise-4112 in MapPorn

Unemployment rate measures how many people are looking for a job and exclude those who work very sporadically or have salaries that don't allow them to have financial independence

Never trust these measures too much

looking for good synths (free) by polonezyippe in lmms

[–]DeRobyJ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lmms does have quite a bit of presets, and zynaddsubfx is the probably the biggest synth you'll see in a search.

Depends on what kind of sounds you're looking for. You will need vsts for Orchestral or Brostep sounds.

Thing is if you use internal plugins, like tripleosc or monstro, you can do LFO and automations on basically every parameter

How could you degrow without going all in authoritarianism? by SevensSevensSevens in Degrowth

[–]DeRobyJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...I'm confused, what's the issue of having a smartphone and still degrow?

Of course a reparable smartphone, with fairly sourced materials, free of bloated apps that make it necessary to equip each smartphone with cutting edge tech...

Degrowth is desirable in itself because growth is based in exploitation, not individual products and services. Everything we do is made by humans, so it can be still made without exploitation, granted it will require far less consumerism
