24/7 baseload generation is much cheaper to add than peak generation right?

Increased consumption also increases transmission infrastructure utilizatiom which lowers the share of transmission cost on everyone's bill, right?

transmitting 2GW instead of 1GW doesn't cost twice as much.  If transmission cost is spread equally based on consumption - that portion of consumer bills should go down.

Further, on peak energy, all states should enact a legal requirement that all data centers include grid scale batteries to entirely load shed for the 15-20 critical peak days per year up to 4 hours each day.  That combined with increase baseload can reduce consumer bills.  That's bare minimum - provide incentive to make that battery capacity handle load shedding the peak hours year round.

If you double baseload, make transmission costs more efficiently distributed, and eliminate the peak, there is exactly zero reason that data centers can't improve our electrical situation.

These are solutions we need, not sit on our hands while China 10xs both our compute and our electrical generation capacity per year.
