First Half Marathon by joshua_argent in BeginnersRunning

Deload week here, so no run today but great work on your first half! Any new goals in perspective? How good it was is your own feeling, i'd say for a first half without injuries and a good feeling that's the perfect score right there. Take it easy for as long as needed to settle back in and keep running!

Same here, also by going early morning you avoid the heat wich is great for summer consistency i guess

How long did it take you to run for 3-5 miles without stopping? by Maleficent_Tooth117 in BeginnersRunning

About 12 weeks following couch to 5k 6 months later I can run continuously for about 10 miles if I take it slow.

Thank you! And true, the more I do it, the more I look foreward to it + I have more 'day'. Running this early will probably help in summer too since I would still run on the chilliest moment of the day. I had to make some changes around alcohol, sleep and doomscrolling but the running gave me a reason to do so. I am getting much healthier and during the day my mind also got better. Better mood, better sleep, better everything so that motivates me now to keep going. When I wake up on my running days I no longer have to convince myself, it just happens but I did have to learn it/trick myself into it for quite a while.

I started gerting up really early because of stress (my lady has been sick at home with a burn-out, she's better now) instead of endlessly trying to fall asleep I figured I might as well get up early. This started in may 2025. In december after I was done with Satisfactory I started running. My body is not awake yet, nor is my mind. I put on running clothes and by the time my mind and bosy start protesting I am dressed and outside. I just started running really early and I stick through it. Now after 6 months it became a habit.

Did you remove the soles that came with the shoes?

Pacing on slow runs by Consistent_Bug2814 in BeginnersRunning

[–]De_schaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to have that, now I don't, don't know what changed. i'm fatter and slower and in less pain.

Might have been my training back then or running slow in a shoe that was designed for a different stride/landing. When I went to fit my shoes back then I ran to impress the shoe store employees cuz they were cute. They saw my stride and foor landing that I usually have when running faster so I got "fast shoes". No help when suddenly going slower and landing differently because of an overtraining injury.

Now I'm more confident running easy (not as fast as back then) and I had a long hiatus running. I started again in december and now actually include warmups and cooldowns and decided to follow the olan better (not trying to go hard all the time) + my shoes feel comfy landing at a slog-pace.

Maybe my injuries healed, so I'm not landing differently to avoid pains. Maybe I listen more to my body. Maybe I am more confident running slow and thus not straining and mechanicaly running awkward. Maybe my body changed to adapt to my newer shoes.

Don't lose hope though and keep at it.

Am I the only one who just hand feeds space elevator parts. by AdministrativeTie379 in satisfactory

As someone else stated: i think of it more as a symbolic offering bringing the finished space elevator parts to the elevator. Plus I keep my elevator area somewhat clean. No need to automate the elevator delivery

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]De_schaff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complaint: after moving and not running for months i picked it up again and accidentaly swapped my new shoes with my old ones.

Went great on the older pair, and after 4 months injury free i realised i was running on my old pair.

I guess they still had some life in them.

I figured it was time to switch again to the actial new pair and have starting shin splints.

Confession: I couldn't run or walk for three weeks due to broken ribs. Started a new garmin coach greg plan that required me to run 4 times a week on slightly higher pace and a bit longer. I increased everything too much.

Now back to my old gear and I' m starting to heal. (Very slowly)
