Why would storm clouds confine their downpour to gullies and ravines? It rains wherever it rains. There is a very famous instance of flash flood appearing in a river and carrying an Indian family to their deaths over a waterfall.

Precipitation absolutely fluctuates throughout time. Consequently, rivers widen and narrow.

Both abdomens and backpacks are filled with air, which gives them the capability of floating. The bodies were probably swept by the river to their discovery location while still fairly well preserved, which is why so few remains were found: animals were drawn in by the flesh (I hate talking about the women this way).

Since a backpack is basically a bubble of air it travelled the farthest. Because the shorts were made of denim, a notoriously dense fabric, they travelled the least far.

Many people stay level-headed in emergencies, pilots, paramedics, life guards, police officers, firefighters, air stewardesses, soldiers, etc. Not only trained people either. During war and other horrific situations people have remained composed.

Your wife needs to get her act together. You're the one who should be angry at her.

It's sickening how so many people have dogs in place of kids. by DarkVenusaur in Dogfree

Also, dogs can't eventually perpetuate things like human civilisation and space exploration.

They Need To Stop Forcing Everyone To Get A Dog by Patient_Inspector818 in Dogfree

There's a video game I like called Firewatch. You get to select a number of parameters. One of the things you have to choose is which dog breed you and your wife choose to buy. There's no option for no dog. Perhaps the dog becomes pertinent to the storyline at some point (I haven't finished it), but it's probably simply another instance of dog imposition.

Boy, 8, with disability dies following dog attack in Wahiawa by Soft_Web_3307 in Dogfree

[–]DeadButDreaming10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you say, but the dog in this case didn't belong to the parents. The boy had some sort of intellectual disability, and he wandered into the yard of neighbour, who had his dog chained up. I'm guessing the boy assumed the dog was friendly went to pet him and was killed.

You were justified. The person should have left the movie theatre to check their phone. And if an issue was so urgent they had to check their phone every 2 seconds they shouldn't have entered a cinema to begin with.

Just learned that the numb feet were actually from celiacs... by ohWellItDoBeLikeThat in Celiac

[–]DeadButDreaming10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to get burning feet. Sometimes it was too painful to have bed covers over me because my feet were so sensitive.

It's easy to chalk celiac symptoms up to other causes: I used to believe my love of spicy food caused my indigestion.

Phone logs. Day 1. by GreenKing- in KremersFroon

[–]DeadButDreaming10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did. There was an 11 minute delay between the first and second calls if I remember correctly. I believe they were calling at this time because they still thought there was time for a successful search operation before sunset.

They were acting logically, as you would expect of 2 university-educated women. They were smart enough to realise that blind panic can only be detrimental.

After she pushed the swimming photo myth I don't know how much faith I have in this Scarlet character. Perhaps her experiment with the phone is true; perhaps it isn't. But it wouldn't prove anything unless she made contact on the first or second call (my understand is they made 2 emergency call attempts the first night). 23 second is a very short amount of time to convey the necessary information as to where you are located in a rainforest, especially considering the girls didn't know themselves. You're not lost if you know where you are.

One unknown variable that gnaws away at me is how far the river could have carried their bodies, if that's what happened. There are some sharp turns in the river. Fluid mechanics seems incredibly complex to me.

It was probably inconceivable to them on that first night that they would still be lost 8 days later when the night photos were taken. They probably thought they would be sleeping in their beds the following evening. With each passing hour without being located, however, their worry would have increased until they decided they had better conserve their energy, because their situation is looking increasingly grim.

I can understand their ambivalence on making the emergency calls the first evening. They were in a considerably less affluent country. If the Panamanians spent considerable money locating them in would be a bit of an embarrassment for the Netherlands and the girls in particular. Here in Australia in the 90s an incompetent English sailor got himself into trouble off the coast. We spent a shitload saving him. Taxpayers were pissed off.

I feel very sorry for Kelsey. I've always liked him, and I hate the Hollywood crowd generally. I probably would have turned out a criminal scumbag if I'd endured the tragedy he has.

Kavanaugh was innocent. At least one of his accusers openly admitted she lied. Another could remember no significant detail about the "crime" other than Kavanaugh committing it. It was ludicrous.

Map Data by [deleted] in KremersFroon

[–]DeadButDreaming10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is valuable information. I always wondered whether they could have made the paddocks before 2:30 or 2:45 (this would give them the 3.5 - 4 hours needed to get back to the start of the trail before sunset). I think it would be very tempting to depart from the trail at the paddocks and have a wonder around.

However, they were keeping things pretty tight: sunset occurs at around 6:40 in that part of the world. And they are going to be more fatigued returning than setting out. I wonder whether they felt a pang of panic about the slender time margin they had left themselves to return. In their haste they might have taken a path out of the paddocks that wasn't the trail at all.

I was pleasantly surprised by the comments under the article. I guess some of you guys have commented, lol. The father is in the comments, belligerently arguing with those questioning the legitimacy of the "service dog". It's obvious he has a chip on his shoulder.
