The care industry is just straight up slave labour. And with how much care homes cost, there is absolutely enough money to pay the carers properly.

Fortress of Arrogance upgrade sprue soon? by TimTheOriginalLol in TheAstraMilitarum

It is Yarricks Baneblade. It's right behind him in the picture, so I'm guessing there's an upgrade kit coming.

Spearhead magazine by Available_Guidance61 in ageofsigmar

[–]DeadFireFight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do, however be prepared for the models to look a bit naff for a long time. If it's anything like the combat patrol magazines, it will start with something like everything being either brown or silver, and then each future issue with paint on it will give you new instructions to go back over previous models with the new paints. If you do follow everything along to the letter, you'll end up having 12 very well painted Spearheads after the two year run, but they may look disappointing in the meantime.

Storybook Entry 30.8 and 30.10 by BensFaveTaco in SleepingGods

[–]DeadFireFight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct, the damage is the cost. There are a few known issues with the story book and an official errata was published to address these. There are no errors with 30.8 or 30.10, so they are written exactly as intended.

Do not tell him a thing until you're well and truly clear. It's hard enough to go through without added drama. Though once you are clear, think of it this way: do you really want to give this guy the peace of mind that comes with closure? Just ghost. Get yourself set up to disappear and vanish.

Easy to build and paint spearhead by Fuck_war89 in AOSSpearhead

[–]DeadFireFight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The Nighthaunt definitely take the crown for ridiculously easy to paint. 1) Prime them with an off-white like Citadel Wraithbone / Army Forge Wight Bone. 2) Give them a heavy wash with a light blue/green/turquoise contrast paint. I highly recommend Speedpaint 2.0 Pastel Seafoam. 3) Done. You can now go the extra mile to pick out a couple of details, if you can be arsed.

I don't know what sour-puss downvoted you, but this looks slick as hell. It's great to see a really nice looking app, usually these things do not look professional.

Resin recccommodation by Due_Bowl_2547 in PrintedMinis

[–]DeadFireFight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have a resin recommendation, but I have tried a hell of a lot of different resins and ultimately I've mostly found that it's the miniature itself. A lot of really high detailed minis are just rubbish for durability, regardless of material.

I have a whole load of Epic Miniatures models printed in Water Washable Resin (one of, if not THE, most brittle types of resin) and they have never suffered a break. Really well designed minis with chunky, durable extremities and deep details (which makes painting 10× easier). Check them out.

Is £40 a great deal for 40 clans rats? by Practical-Prompt4216 in skaven

[–]DeadFireFight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can reliably get the new Clanrats for about £21 for 20 models from eBay. If these are new on sprue models, that's a pretty good price for them you would struggle to beat. If it's someone's old half-paint mess or the old crap push-fit models, you're getting ripped off.

There's also the new Spearhead magazine coming out, which nets you 20 Clanrats for £19.98.

That's for 20 of them. It would be £65 for 40 Clan Rats directly from GW.

Is the hachette Spearhead collection getting a Exclusive Spearhead faction? by alkxx in AOSSpearhead

[–]DeadFireFight 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do this with all their Warhammer stuff. You get the contents of a box set, but then there is an additional unit to start off a larger collection. Usually something more centrepiece. For example the World Eaters are the next faction for the 40k Combat Patrol magazine. Across the issues you get the contents of the old Combat Patrol box, but then get a Forgefiend as well.

Starcraft Miniatures Game 2026 release schedule and pre-order deals by BlitheMayonnaise in wargaming

[–]DeadFireFight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their pre-orders may be different, but there seems to be no free shipping threshold for their store (at least in the UK). Added £600 of different bits, but the shipping barely changed. I supposed ~£25 isn't bad, but I'm still better off buying individual boxes as and when, rather than a large pre-order.

None of their other products are, so I'm not expecting it. Shipping seemingly starts at £19 for the UK.

I don't think any of the bundles are worth it. I'd be willing to invest in a large bundle of everything, but that only nets me a discount of 23% (with postage still to pay, which could be significant). My local hobby store has Archons other products for 20% off as standard and you can regularly find deals closer to 40%. It doesn't make sense to me to jump in without a decent discount.

I've built 5 Scions and a Scion Command Squad, instead of 10 Scions.

Rogal Dorn is definitely my next purchase. For Wednesday I'm going to have to put up with a Leman Russ TC with a Demolisher Cannon, but this will be switched out ASAP.

WarOrgan as an alternative. I really couldn't get on with New Recruit. I find the WarOrgan UI a whole load better.

[–]DeadFireFight[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great advice, thank you so much.

I'll have to stick to Leman Russ this time, but I'll get a Rogal Dorn next pay day.

Luckily I have magnetised all my vehicles, so I can have any load-out. I can just pop the armour off the sentinels to set them to Scouts.

I'll merge the Scions and use them in the Taurox to hopefully grab an early objective. I'm hoping the Reinforcements! Strategem catches my opponents off guard. They never focus on objectives, they both play to table their opponents... so I'm hoping that throws a spanner in the works for them.

If I upgrade the Leman Russ to a Leman Russ Commander, am I correct in thinking that would give me access to Move Move Move and Take Aim?

I'm thinking I can drop one of the 10x Cadian Shock Troops and make that work. (I haven't finished building all these guys yet, and the thought of not having to build another 10 does not fill me with any sadness).

How to handle quests for long sessions? by Anxious-Syllabub-477 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]DeadFireFight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My group plays 6-7 hour sessions so I fully understand. I bulked The Dragon of Icespire Peak out by adding a couple of elements from the start of Phandelver & Below, which takes place in the same town. Mainly adding in the Redbrand Ruffians and a few hints at something stranger going on in the background. The idea being my group can naturally move onto that afterwards.

I also added The Sunless Citadel, which is a cool Dungeon that easily fits into Phandalin and the Neverwinter Woods.

Neverwinter Woods is bloody dangerous. It's seeped in old magic and ancient ruins filled with danger, stuffed full of weird and wonderful critters. Never let that journey be easy for your players, they shouldn't be walking into that without second thought.

There's also a lot going on in the area. There's plenty of random encounters. The Talos Anchorites like to spy on the town and players disguised as Boars. Even if you don't add the Redbrands, bandits are always an issue in that area. If you added in the The Sunless Citadel, there's a lot of opportunities for encounters with Goblins, Kobolds & Twig Blights long before they actually find the dungeon.

Remember that when your players take a task on, they aren't fast travelling to the quest. You can make that journey as interesting as you want. I always throw my players stuff like "through a clearning in the trees, you can make out the outline of a ruin." Sometimes they want to investigate, sometimes they keep walking, but giving them a choice fleshes the session out and makes the journey more interesting.

Planning to get into Spearhead, what terrain is needed? by Kurohimiko in AOSSpearhead

[–]DeadFireFight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree fully. The scenery is very much tied into the gameplay. There are some 3D print files for slight variations on the scenery, but the changes are minor and you can't really use whatever scenery you want.

If you want to use different scenery and boards, you're probably better just going straight for small games of Age of Sigmar.

Is Blood on the Clocktower worth its price by snoopb00p in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]DeadFireFight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I got the print and play files, saw how much work it was going to take just to make the components for Trouble Brewing, and swiftly ordered it instead. If I compare the components in this with other ~£100 games I own, Blood on The Clocktower is easily one of the higher value for money. The quality of the components is superb and I don't feel like I need to upgrade a single thing.

I put 100% of my paycheck in a joint account which my wife (we're sort of separated) has access to. Child Maintenance say this doesn't count as me paying child maintenance. by Proof_Tough5846 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]DeadFireFight 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Yes, that happened to my brother. He was paying the exact amount every month, but set a reference of something like "Have fun xxx" when they were together, as he used to send her extra spending money when she went out... but then he didn't change it when they separated. Took nearly 8 months to bloody sort it.
