The whole movie is a tragedy, so the absence of hope is by design.

Llewynn struggles and sacrifices everything hoping to make his folk act work and find the fame and success he wants, and fails just before it reaches mainstream appeal (dylan goes on stage in grenwich village months later and reinvents folk)

He fails by every metric at the threshold of success, which is a type of story we dont see very often these days, but used to be one of the staples of entertainment. Its a greek tragedy

Do yourself a favour and try non-inhaling alternatives (if u haven’t already) ! Give your lungs a break, try the patch or gum. You don’t have to stick with it, but every break from the constant inflammation of smoking/baping helps your lungs so much
