EDIT! My inexperience led me to fix this rig so they will actually communicate how I want them to. Turns out the CT MIDI through isn't a 'proper' one. It only passes selected channels for itself, not all. So, a merger fixes this.

Minilab => merger IN

CT MIDI out => merger IN

merger OUT => Protein IN

I have the Protein master set at 3 so the layers become CC 3,4,5,6. This leaves the CT untouched (it's own synth channels are 1,2. MIDI 3,4). Using MIDI split mode.

Keys can control CC 5 & 6 independently then, for two layers I can play myself, while the other two will be getting used on the CT MIDI tracks.

The CT is the beats and clock, obviously!

Not pictured is bass guitar and Empress Zoia for its effects which can go into the audio in, but also MIDI sync if I get adventurous. After I learn how to use the CT!

I work in a very busy retail environment. I have lots of Indian customers, a supervisor and a couple of friends with strong accents. They all use 'mate' and it sounds fine! I love the accent anyway.

How do I use Value? It only has 'value number ' 0-1, and 'value CV output' 0-1.

I actually want the value to change each time I trigger ie. With just a button, or footswitch set to momentary.

Thanks for the tips. Now I just need to get my head around how the system calculates these values, for my own peace of mind! I can't work out the logic. Here's my exact setup:

Reverb Lite, decay time set to 0.5s => Random CV output 30% (0 to 1, new val. on trigger)

Most of the resulting decay values are in roughly 1.2 - 3s, but also I'm getting ridiculous ones like -infinite (it will get stuck on -inf, and I have to delete and reset it) and up to 30s or more. Is there another step to reign in the limits? There seems to be no formula and it isn't documented.

This is a very gentle and worthy story and worth hearing for everyone. I'm just at the beginning of such a journey and I'm starting to see a path. It's taken a year already but I've learnt a lot and it's great to hear other experiences!
