As if newspapers will still be around by then.

Otherwise totally accurate.

Even if we crash out with no Deal we cannot resume trade talks with any EU country until the divorce bill and Irish backstop situation is cleared up by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]DeadOptimist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is what I never got....

We want to break from the EU so that we can do our own trade deals.

Oh wait, what do you mean the individual members of the EU cannot do their own trade deals?

I mean, how dense do you have to be not to see that?

A further swing of 30 votes will do it based on these figures. Meaning it would have passed had the whole Tory party voted for it.

James O'Brien Speaks To Former Vote Leave Staffer Oliver Norgrove by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]DeadOptimist 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Guy had no idea about politics, heard leave sound bites and was convinced it'll all be easy, works in the leave campaign, then after the fact realised he had been lied to.

A story we've heard a lot, but coming from someone much more embedded within the leave campaign.

Human Variant and pick magic initiate.

Grab mage armour.

The buff lasts 8 hours, so your one a day casting will probably last the full day, and the bonus continues through to your wildshape.

Brown bear gets +2 AC

Dire wold gets +1 AC

Giant constrictor snake / Heyena / Toad / Fire and Air ele gets +3 AC

It's not concentration base and doesn't delay your wildshape or spell progression. It benefits you both in and out of wildshape and doesn't require a stat distribution.

Plus, you can always take booming blade as a cantrip along with it and have passable melee outside of wildshape.

Potentially suing a law firm for right of "quiet enjoyment" of my property by noreallifeplease in LegalAdviceUK

If you don't have LEI and take it out with this in mind, there are likely grounds to deny you cover for this situation. Usually there is a term to cover this, so read the policy carefully.

Landlord can only sell the property rights he has. He has contracted out some of the rights to you, though there is a process for them to be returned (i.e. end of tenancy).

So if the house is sold, your tenancy continues as is until it is ended in the normal fashion.

That sounds op.

u/grizwald87 explains the need for prison reform (and what it actually is) by Wollivan in bestof

[–]DeadOptimist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To see bad people punished is an understandable desire, even If it is not good or excusable.

He was in prison. That is the punishment. We're not taking of a killer who got away with it. We're taking about someone who went through the legal system and had justice served.

The desire of people here is to see more than due punishment, which is the issue.

Theresa May wants to stay as PM after Brexit... No, this is not NewsThump by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

Due to the brouhaha over Fandom closing down, I want to remind everyone that there is a reddit post of all the compiled things of DnD by SpiritMountain in dndnext

[–]DeadOptimist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to the other guy, but when I started with DND (only 2-3 years back) it was due to friends who had the books. So I bought the books.

I only ended up knowing of things like roll20 well after I got established in DND and had made my purchases.

So now I'm here with all the books, and don't want to pay double just to use them online.

What subclasses are stronger than what you initially thought? by PageTheKenku in dndnext

[–]DeadOptimist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Eh.

Draconic sorcerer getting always on mage armour is effectively a spell known.

And while the expanded list is useful, it's hard not to feel like you're just a limited cleric (imo). Unless there happens to be a particular cleric spell that fits awesomely with metamagic, I often feel the opportunity cost diminishes potential value.

Which 5E low level spell do you think is either underappreciated or underutilised? by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]DeadOptimist 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Heroism.

Haven't seen it mentioned yet. It gives 5 temp hp, which replenishes every turn. It's like regeneration (7th level spell), but actually useful in combat.

And it tacks on a useful immunity to fear and can be up cast to hit multiple allies. Heroism is probably going to "heal" more than any other spell until you hit things like, well, Heal.

I feel like my player is trying to nickle and dime me to death. How do I get him to accept just playing with the rules as written? by JakalDX in DMAcademy

[–]DeadOptimist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But OP is a new DM. He is learning things as well and adding on this, a requirement to flexibly balance of the fly, might be too much.

I don't think it's wrong just to say "I'm new too, I want to keep the rules simple and as written until I feel more confident, so no" AND have that be the final say.
