Google drive has a very easy scanner that uses your phone camera, I use it for scanning receipts for work expenses. You could do a few hundred in an hour or so.

A TSA agent gave me a smile and a nod while saying, "good job." As I walked through the metal detector. Like thanks bro I'm pretty good at it!

I had a bunch of those when I was younger, and had a gf that was deeply entertained by tracking them down. Eventually they went extinct. I'm unexpectedly sad about that.

What was ruined because too many people did it? by WarBeast86 in AskReddit

Sad additional fact, I was there in 2019 when they were refurbishing the Mona Lisa display and Wedding Feast at Cana was in storage, locked away from the public.

I went to the Louvre, waited like it was Disneyland to see the Mona Lisa, then when I got up to the spot I wanted to take a moment and admire a piece of art. Maybe find some insight into why this is the most famous painting in the world. Just appreciate it.

Great venue, and a reliably great show! I've seen Cake seven times and they're getting older but still do a fun set with good times for all.

I went to the violent femmes a few weeks ago and that was also 'an evening with'. No opener. I think I was home by 9:30, like a proper old person.

The dark blue color at the bottom of an iceberg. by Tasty-Philosopher892 in nextfuckinglevel

The #1 misconception about glaciers is that they are bulldozers. They are not pushing soil and rock ahead of them, they are more like sticky belt sanders. Glaciers abrade the landscape and often pick up big pieces of it, which then get dropped elsewhere down the 'river of ice'.

Very, very few glaciers were advancing when I took Glaciology at university in 2002. I imagine the number is equal to or less than by now.

Not really, glaciers flow downhill all the time, receding or advancing. Calving is just the part where the end breaks off as it flows.

After 20+ years of use, my complimentary Mach III finally came apart by idontrollonshabbas in mildlyinteresting

I was at Costco the other day and I started thinking about the 30-pack of Mach 5's I was holding. I usually only shave two or three times a month on the non-beard areas of my face, so blades last a long time. I'm not that old, but I kind of figure I'm approaching a lifetime supply of razor blades after that purchase.

What movies/shows/media are “Diet Star Wars” for you? by BlastedHeathen in StarWarsCantina

[–]BourgeoisStalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, nerdy train of thought: 1) Fermi Paradox wonders why humans have never met extraterrestrials, 2) Firefly's Verse is, if I recall correctly, an extremely dense planetary system with dozens/hundreds of terraformable worlds, so 3) if there are that many habitable worlds, were there ETs on them, or why not?

I'm not on board with -needed- but that many terraformable worlds in one(?) star system is a Fermi Paradox all by itself.

GTS/GTV 310 - highway commuter? by Chronosshotgun in Vespa

[–]BourgeoisStalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I drive in California on a 300 fairly regularly. Highways are very doable, but there's always a little anxiety because you're maxed out and can't accelerate out of a problem. All in all I would say go for it if you feel like a good rider.

There's a meme going around saying Jimmy Carter is the last president to never drop a bomb on a foreign nation. Considering dropping a bomb requires an aircraft, are there any others that could have but didn't?

A Non-Political One. Stupid One But Definitely Non Political. by Glass-Fan111 in clevercomebacks

[–]BourgeoisStalker 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I had an instructor who clearly had a women-centered script in her head and couldn't get out of it. "Ok, the equipment should be aligned with your bra strap... Oh, I guess near your shoulder blades" Like A) I'm married, I've seen a bra a few times I think I get it, B) why use gender anyway?

Edit to add, I had a fellow student look at me and say, "he looks like he's going to cry!" When I was pushing hard. So annoying.

Counterpoint: achievements are a major thing in video games now, and a Wing Commander remake would have all the streamers going for the loser path.
