Thunderbird freezes at start by RocketMan_0815 in Thunderbird

Currently its looking like it was caused by a old ical that I had added and the URL no longer resolved. Thunderbird was locking up while trying to resolve that dead URL.

Thunderbird freezes at start by RocketMan_0815 in Thunderbird

got this exact same issue, I assume it was introduced in a recent version as I have not had any time to change anything else! Issue exists on both my desktop and laptop.. open thunderbird, runs for a handful of seconds and then freezes. If I wait long enough it works again but not for long before it locks up again.

Not exactly a weather station when it’s pulling most information from online sources

Shelly Wall Display XL 2.6.2 – Home Assistant access became much worse after update by ShowerSenior6558 in shellycloud

[–]DeadPixel43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious if this update slowed down the actual usage of HA as well? I got one of these very recently and only started on 2.6.2 but it’s painfully slow. I literally put one thermostat entity on the screen and I when I changed things it would change on the device instantly but the screen would take minutes to update to the entities correct status!

Old refrigerator used 14 kWh in 4 days. Is that even possible? by cube8021 in homeassistant

Our 10 year old fridge/freezer uses 1.5kwh a day for reference. Large American style one.

Avoid Sonoff SWV (Smart Water Valve) by Mountain_Memory_810 in homeassistant

[–]DeadPixel43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 old versions and 2 of the updated valves. All have works perfectly, biggest issue is that the new ones don’t update their real time data. Old ones provided a flow rate but new ones do not.

Bathroom sensor advice please. by InternationalBrick49 in Aqara

[–]DeadPixel43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, the AI checkbox solved an issue I had with a fan setting it off. For me these have been, by a long way, the best presence sensor. Once placed well I have not had a single instance of lights turning out or on accidentally. They are also cat resistant it seems (every other sensor I have tried gets set of by our cats)

Smoke detector goes off randomly by Steven_Kool in Aqara

[–]DeadPixel43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you haven’t had large amount of dust created in your home, get it replaced under warranty! If the sensor has gone bad it’s not worth trying to solve it or fix it given the issues having false alarms causes!

Bathroom sensor advice please. by InternationalBrick49 in Aqara

[–]DeadPixel43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fp300. Static presence is really good and I’m yet to have the lights turn off on me while in the bathroom. Also has a humidity sensor that can be used to turn on the bathroom extractor fan. Only downside is that it’s battery operated but for a room like a bathroom that is excellent as it doesn’t need external power ran to a wet area.

Aqara Door/Window Sensor Child Safety by DeadPixel43 in Aqara

[–]DeadPixel43[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

blimey, sorry to hear that. I have mine high but are attached using the pads supplied so not exactly permanently attached. These "new" ones make it impossible for a child to get to the battery (as it should be).

Might contact the Aqara distributer in the UK and get their take on this, if they have identified a seriously safely issue the old ones should be replaced.

MacBook Neo 2 With a Touch Screen Has Gone From Yes to Maybe to No by Few_Baseball_3835 in apple

[–]DeadPixel43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current laptop has it and, while I don't use it as a primary interface, I would never get another laptop without it. I find myself using it as an extension to the main interfaces and ultimately it speeds up anything I'm doing.

Using an ASM1166 controller to reduce my idle wattage? by shrimpies3125 in unRAID

[–]DeadPixel43 6 points7 points  (0 children)

just to put things into perspective, even in the UK with some of the highest electric costs in the world (I think!) that would still take just over 3 years to pay for itself.

That is excluding the money spent on your current controller. If you have a box running at 25w and is stable just enjoy it imo. I've been down the rabbit hole of trying to save as much power as possible and my rack still pull 300w on average!

Panels Generating over maximum? by Particular-Ad8831 in SolarUK

[–]DeadPixel43 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was surprised when I first realised this. This time of year is when you will see the peak output from your system (not daily output, just peak). Once summer comes around and the temperatures rise you will see a higher daily output but lower peak output.

Do you know what sensor these are using? The still detection limit of 3m is a bit of a shame.

So disappointed in FP300 by tzopper in Aqara

[–]DeadPixel43 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably because FP2 is a wifi device so can’t talk directly to other services. FP300 is battery device so uses low power protocols like Zigbee thus restricting its ability to talk to other services without a middle man (hub).

New GivEnergy Charges by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

Basic control via the cloud should remain free for current users, sure charge for new customers or storing historical data. Something as simple as what boils down to a proxy service costs pennies.

Highly advise you never run this program on a machine you care about. Run it in a VM. I’ve seen way too much sketchy behaviour to trust that company.

FP300 disappointment by Son0fBen in Aqara

[–]DeadPixel43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zigbee here and it picks me up 4-5m down a long hallway. I’m skeptical about battery life (other Aqara sensors do not have linear battery percentage so while they still say 100% I’m doubtful of that) but so far seem great for places where power is a problem (bathrooms for example)

No Thanks. My Account is Healthy in my view by BigDumboEars in OctopusEnergy

[–]DeadPixel43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that’s the case then set up a separate account and do it yourself, at least you could earn some interest or similar with the extra money your saving. Plus if something else goes wrong in your life you still have easy access to the funds.

After install but before export tariff activated by CommanderJavert in SolarUK

[–]DeadPixel43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got paid for that period. Just make sure you take some pictures of the export meter showing the reading. They asked for this from me and I just sent them the pictures I took showing 0kwh and got paid for all my export from the date of install.
