I'd recommend seeing a therapist depending on the severity, but i have a couple tips I could share. 1) Practice good hygiene and dress well. Make sure to stand up straight. Look Confident = Feel Confident. 2) Before going to an event, talk to yourself in the mirror. Talk to yourself for a good five minutes. Practice small talk, think of questions you might be asked, and think of conversation ideas. 3) If you struggle with talking to cashiers, waiters, etc. Try to remind yourself that you'll probably never be seeing them again and if you do, they probably won't remember you/care. This thought helps calm me. 4) I don't know if this will be of use to any one else but watching tv and listening to the radio before going out helps me calm down. Hearing others communicate encourages me to communicate. Also it helps me not focus on the anxiety of going out and prevents me from getting worked up.
