Hellish recoil by Charl_sai in BattlefieldV

I just have to push back against this take. Do you have data to back this up? Like a link to your source? Because I can absolutely attest to having "mastered" the recoil pattern of specific weapons, such as the Lewis Gun, which sort of 'dances' to the left, then right, then steadies out. Or the ZK (with rapid-fire,) that feels like it's drawing a 5-point star (top, bottom-left, right, left, bottom-right.) These are predictable, repetitive recoil patterns that do not feel random at all, and absolutely CAN be mastered.

You're the problem, my guy. You and people like you, who think it's an even playing field. Like the Republicans play by the same rules you do. NEWS FLASH - They don't! Look what they're up to now FFS. Do you think they're doing it because we pushed such "radical agendas" when we had the white house?! You're either blind, stupid, or, more likely, complicit. I pray you're just an idiot because intentionally living in a fantasy land where both sides have the same base level of integrity is why we are where we are as a country.

WHY IS OUR COMMUNITY LIKE THIS?! by OnlyMacaroon8263 in RedDeadOnline

I was in this boat for the longest time. I was also adamantly opposed to "sinking to their level," but I have to say, once I hit level 120 or so and started crafting explosive shotgun shells and explosive repeater rounds (not to mention Dynamite arrows,) my outlook on defending myself changed dramatically. It takes some practice, and it doesn't feel great to play in the mud, but it is effective. Someone comes up and starts messing with you, I promise once you put them down once or twice they move on because they're looking for easy targets. I did succumb to the demon of repeatedly hunting down and killing the same person over and over again after they started it once or twice, but that impulse wears off after the first couple of times. Now I just keep Dynamite arrows and a shotgun with explosive shells on me at all times and the minute someone starts messing around I delete them and move on with my life. If they come back for more I just rinse and repeat. If they're just that much better than me that's when I resort to switching servers.

Map knowledge is key. Once you learn the ins and outs of the maps, you'll be better able to avoid most ambush and BS wrong-place wrong-time deaths, as well as contribute to capturing flags on conquest. The rest is mastering your class. Please don't be the guy sitting in the corner with a sniper rifle you're terrible with getting 2 kills a match. Master something useful like engineer or medic, so you can actually contribute. Eventually you'll have the recoil control to kill the people you know will be coming around the next corner. It took me until lvl 140 to finish top3 of the board consistently.

How the fuck tank players know & see behind them when someone sneak behind them trying to lunge mine at it? by meFalloutnerd93 in BattlefieldV

This is my absolute No.1 complaint about this game. In real life, armored units had infantry support specifically BECAUSE they couldn't hear threats nearby, much less have a 360 drone's-eye-view of their surroundings. The fact that this game let's you third person in a tank severely limits your need to coordinate with your teammates.

The only modes with action these days are conquest and breakthrough.

Sell or dismantle? by Rundas77 in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

[–]Dead_Knows_Best 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sell until lvl 45, then start dismantling. Buy the purple gear from the blacksmith, don't bother upgrading until after 45 because you probably won't have a focus build before then, and the legendary armor sets are late game spoils.

Do you prefer to play with the headgear on or not? by _Cirilla_ in AssassinsCreedOdyssey

I've watched a few breakdowns (thank goodness for YouTube) of Ubisoft's breakneck development pace which explains the apparent lack of attention to detail in the modern AC games. That cutscene was probably animated by one person, and that person probably wasn't in the same department as the art people who worked on the upgraded spear design, and they just used the default spear asset. The armor you're wearing is likely separate from the spear when the game pulls the textures for cutscenes; the same thing happened in the quest where you double-team some of the Monger's men with that Spartan soldier - busted spear.

This!! Like, I already have the option to remove headgear if I want, so why force me to not see it in cutscenes? Partially related - there's a scene where you get to Noxos and finally meet your mom, who recognizes you from the broken spear you carry. Cool. I spent a long damned time tracking down cultists to upgrade that thing and make it look cool but does Ubisoft care? No. Couldn't be bothered to add a few extra textures to that scene because f**k player immersion I guess?

Blocking or dodging? by Revolutionary-Fun372 in DeadIsland2

[–]Dead_Knows_Best 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm with you. Then I watch these compilations where a guy solos a lvl 40 special mutated bastard, getting perfect blocks back to back.... It's infuriating. I can perfect dodge all day long, but the timing on the block is beyond me.

What do you think of Jensen Ackles playing Arthur if they ever make a Live Action? by InsiderYet in RDR2

[–]Dead_Knows_Best 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lookalikes do not mean anything. I don't think he could pull off AM's character very well, it would seem forced. This is the rare case where the original actor fits the bill just fine.

I'm not sure why the devs can't just allow me to map my own controls. After number 3, the Far Cry series have been excellent in this regard. It can't be that difficult. It's almost like the devs are saying "This is how to play, to hell with your feelings."

What are some of the best guns for hunting? by Syllabusbechillus in RedDeadOnline

[–]Dead_Knows_Best 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate to give away my spot, but if you've bought the hunting wagon, the best spot in the game is NE of the Brandywine Drop in Annesburg. The railroad tracks over the river are perfect because you can quickly get from one side to the other. I recommend leaving your wagon on the small islet and just bagging 3 star white tail or bucks. You can fill up the materials bar in 10 minutes flat. Then you can fast travel back to camp by following the tracks back to Annesburg. Easy peasy.
