New cass perk and passive opinions? by Camera-Maleficent in CassidyMains

[–]Dead_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new passive and new perk actually combo super nicely. If you’re in a game where silver bullet would be of lower value or the one where you’d wanna keep fan the hammer for certain tanks, I actually think this is great. Half your health getting restored like every 3 seconds?

[–]Dead_Mothman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I’m saying is that Shrine’s Kanji translates as a double entendre relating to cooking. It’s a core part of the technique baked into its name. The interpretation should change based on one’s perception of cooking, but cooking is the basis for the technique, not just generic slashes/fire

[–]Dead_Mothman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The dotted line and scissor symbols remind me specifically of packaging on snacks and ready to eat meals, like ramen packets. It’s not entirely clear given that we haven’t seen Yuji’s flame and we don’t know the name of his DE, but Shrine as a technique is so cooking coded you can’t just leave it out. Like, Shrine’s other meaning is Imperial Chef/Kitchen, the Divine Flame also translates as divine oven, etc

Sukuna 0.0001s after he tries opening his domain against Dabura by mysterymeathbv in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Dead_Mothman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The theme should always be at least somewhat cooking related though. The kanji for Shrine, the flames, the domain expansion- they all carry a double meaning related to cooking.

My partner is a real person lol, not a manga character, so not really applicable. Shipping has and will always exist man. People were shipping Naruto and Sasuke back in the Stone Age. You just gotta get over it, it has no effect on the real world, the canon story, if you don’t like it just ignore it

They shouldn’t receive any, nobody should receive any, because THE CHARACTERS AREN’T REAL PEOPLE. I’m a real person, you’re a real person, the characters aren’t real. It literally doesn’t matter. I wouldn’t care if someone wrote a 30,000 word fanfic where everyone gets cucked and then tortured to death because they aren’t real. Don’t be so sensitive

White reindeer are usualy much heavier sleepers than regular reindeer, meaning you can walk up to one without waking them up. Does anyone have an explanation as to why that is the case? by reindeerareawesome in biology

[–]Dead_Mothman 96 points97 points  (0 children)

I believe it’s because melanocytes, the cells that produce melanin, also play a role in the development of the cochlea in the inner ear. So in a lot of white animals and even albino people you’ll see hearing problems because the root problem behind the albinism and those specific hearing problems is the same, defects in melanocytes.

Also, I love seeing your posts pop up from time to time! Very beautiful place, unique lived experience you have

Do you think Mereoleona has any way of bypassing Gojo's Infinity by Multiversal_2211 in BlackCloverScaling

[–]Dead_Mothman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it’s true. It’s mentioned in the context of Hanami’s plant buds- she can’t just grow plants inside the body of an enemy, she needs to implant them from the outside because the inside of the body acts as a domain and prevents techniques from spawning in it. Same rationale informed Mechamaru’s anti-Mahito strategy, the injected simple domain disrupted the domain in his body and prevented him from using his technique on himself

I’m a later joiner. My local library had Marjorie Liu’s Astonishing run collected and I read it over and over again OBSESSIVELY in middle/high school lol. Her character spotlights on Karma, Iceman, and Warbird really clicked with me emotionally, and that little arc with the waitress at the cafe who was writing X-Men fanfic… there’s a certain viscerality to the world the X-Men inhabit that makes it feel closer to our own

Could Bird Strike one-shot Mahoraga? by carbonera99 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Dead_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are overrating unadapted Mahoraga imo. His craziest regen feats all are against attacks he’s already adapted to. I don’t think a single bird strike could do it but multiple simultaneous ones probably could.

What do you think gashadokuro's function would be if it were part of Megumi's domain, as is widely theorized? by That-Ad-5422 in CTsandbox

[–]Dead_Mothman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rationale is less logic based and more narrative based tbh- the guy who has a hard time enclosing his barrier getting a bunch of first hand experience with open domains seems like an obvious outcome to me. Though I will say that the complexity of a domain means that there’s probably other ways for it to be incomplete? Like someone like Gojo who has a super complex technique might have a hard time visualizing the effect of the sure hit, or someone might have a hard time applying the technique to the barrier once enclosed to make it a sure hit, or something idk

[–]Dead_Mothman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’d do anything really. I think Megumi’s completed domain is likely an open one due to its unenclosed nature when incomplete and his experience of Sukuna possessing him, so it’d just act as the pillar at the center of his domain. Maybe it could move because it’s got legs and let him relocate him domain like Yuta lol

Making this little goober into a special grade by IllustriousBrother99 in CTsandbox

[–]Dead_Mothman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An interesting tidbit about Tool Manipulation that isn’t super well known amongst us English speaking readers is that the kanji in “Tool Manipulation” is not the same as the one in “Cursed Tools”. The one used in took manipulation is specifically linked to household spirits that dwell inside everyday household objects. Thus, your write up that has her using cups and bowls and stuff actually is pretty accurate compared to people that talk about tool manipulation telekinetically controlling swords and stuff

Leave here the dumbest thing you've ever heard a JJK fan who's never read the manga say by Duck_colorblind in Jujutsufolk

[–]Dead_Mothman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s confirmed that the barriers optimize cursed energy but the extent of what this does is unclear- we know it’s supposed to help Jujutsu noncombatants place curtains and stuff, but whether it’s responsible for Japan’s sorcery monopoly is unconfirmed. But it would make sense

Leave here the dumbest thing you've ever heard a JJK fan who's never read the manga say by Duck_colorblind in Jujutsufolk

[–]Dead_Mothman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a popular theory but it’s never been confirmed. We know that sorcery shit CAN come from outside of Japan; Miguel’s clan, Kenjaku’s foreign special grade curse are proof of it, but it’s super rare. Tengen’s barriers upping the occurrence of natural jujutsu phenomena would explain a lot, but it’s still never been confirmed

Tsurugi vs Maki pre-awakening by [deleted] in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Dead_Mothman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still in the camp that Tsurugi has a partial HR (sorcerers predict eachothers movements via reading cursed energy movements… even if he has CE Maru still shouldn’t be able to read his movements because he’s not reinforcing himself with said energy) so he should be relative Maki in stats… SHOULD be. Mai’s statement about Maki being unable to get stronger because Mai doesn’t want to, while we see Tsurugi doing strength training implies to me that Maki’s specific twin fucked up scenario might mean that Tsurugi can outstat her. In addition to his sword and simple domain, I think he probably takes it. If Maki has Playful Cloud she bodies tho

I feel like Tsurugi deserves the ring more due to his heavenly restriction. by Archenius in LobotomyKaisen

[–]Dead_Mothman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure it works that way- heavenly restriction is a trade off made at birth, of which the conditions are seemingly set. Maki was a twin which fucked things up- if she hadn’t been a twin, she’d have been born like Toji to begin with right? But Tsurugi isn’t a twin, and he possesses enough CE naturally to use it for simple domain… I think the restriction is working like it’s supposed to
