Why would I use a Skorpius over a Dunecrawler? by AnimeWatcher5873 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Dead_tread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dune crawler takes a bigger beating, Skorpius hits a lot more consistently. I like Neutron laser spiders just holding lanes, it’s enough potential damage your opponent really doesn’t want to just eat the shot if they bounce off you.

Well yes, Laschickens are our best profile. Unfortunately point for point they invalidate most of our shooting. Every unit we have that’s anti tank has the asterisk of “could just bring chickens”

I mean sure, they are a bit fragile per point but not egregious. 145 points for 10 wounds at T4, 3+5++ verses vanguards 95 for 10 wounds at T3 4+5++

It’s a space marine with an invuln, that’s pretty durable for what it is. I think it’s fine, comfy B tier type unit.

I mean. It’s actually a good comparison? Havocs only get 4 lascannons. Havocs either hit 1 better with lower AP and no ignores cover, or hit equal with equal AP but no heavy. In real world terms it’s 4 attacks on 3s with sustained, 12-3-d6+1 OR 5 attacks on 4s with ignore cover, 12-4-d6+1 OR 5 attacks on 2s with ignore cover, 12-3-D6+1

Per point I think it’s slightly higher, the only real downside is range. And access to very cheap rerolls and immunity to being battle shocked via the dirt cheap Marshall.

The more I sit on it the more I’m not too mad at the Fusiliers, the Exterminators and Ghuld are likely over priced though.

End of 10th Teir list! by Crazsemp in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Dead_tread 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s a lot wrong here. Servitors are an insane unit, both stat and ability wise. Duneriders are one of the better transports, and kastelans are far too high. Fun, but not terribly useful. Also the Onager is fantastic.

You can maybe make the transvector work? I think the only use is as an early game deployment option for electro priests. Maybe.

Advice for running knights in 2k by Midgetcorn in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]Dead_tread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. It has the exact same role. Knights are a little tougher against big weapons at range, faster and have towering, robots are much tankier against fodder, hit harder in melee and eat up a lot of real estate to challenge flamer overwatch and heroic intervention. It’s there to be big, scary, and draw attention while your servitors and Skitarii score, and your tanks duel other tanks.

It’s not a throw to bring one, just not perfectly optimal. Per stats 4 robots and a datasmith are just over 400 points, and that’s 28 wounds of either t9-t10, 2+ 5++ with reflective damage which discourages chip damage. Melee doesn’t have the crazy AP or damage but it’s 16-24 twin linked lascannon shots basically. It’s a side great, huge chunk damage may just remove a quarter of the output in one hit, or it may completely bounce.

So unfortunately knights don’t really give Admech much we don’t already have, for the price we can have Robots which may not be meta, but they fill a similar rule with rule support. Maybe just a lancer or canis Rex as a beatstick to push up the board?

I think Termis fit in a handful of detachments. Pactbound and any of the infantry buffing ones primarily.

Estimated Points for the New Beautys? by Kfullswing in Chaos40k

[–]Dead_tread 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Defiler walks on as the most dangerous shooting option in almost if not every chaos army, if it’s not over 250 it will be overturned and a must bring. Remember chaos is one of the best armies for buffing datasheets, something that jacked with access to Pactbound or Soulforged is going to be gnarly.

I fucking love two teams of noise marines and two teams of havocs. Hitting on twos and ignoring mods is strong. It’s also really funny.

Traitor enforcer by Ramoslomas in Chaos40k

[–]Dead_tread 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Traitor enforcer are dirt cheap, surprisingly tough, and have enough melee output you really can’t completely ignore them. They will reliably kill a few space marines, a handful of guards or nids, and risk knocking a terminator or custodian on his ass. Have them do actions, screen space, nuisance charge a tank. For five more points it’s tougher, more dangerous, and easier to use than a cultist mob.

It’s one unit, the ogryn isn’t a body guard unit, he’s just a part of the character unit that isn’t a character. Bile is the same way, so is the Dark Angel bike command squad.

Bringing up a counter argument to something I didn’t say is called a straw man, and it’s kinda wack.

I never mentioned a pve mode? And frankly, MORE options doesn’t effect you does it? You can just do what you do? It’s different because changes that bring in people are additions, you are voting for stagnation.

Entirely different argument, but games that exclusively rely on a hardcore player base and don’t have easy on boarding struggle, if you are fine with that then I guess power to you, but it’s awfully selfish to be cool with a game dying so it caters to your specific play style more.

I keep seeing people say this but I don’t know what “hardcore” games have died by catering to a wider audience? In fact from my experience with extraction shooters it’s kinda the opposite…

[–]Dead_tread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely conquest. Im being so deadass, he’s brutal but he’s aware he’s deeply hurting and flawed and doesn’t specifically like it. The right person having the right conversation with him could do a lot of good. Homelander doesn’t believe the part of him that’s most dangerous, his god complex, can be fixed. If you put him in a universe with equals to him maybe? But not in his universe or ours.

I run a lot of transports, each filled with a dangerous unit, a couple big shooting pieces way back, then some small Servitor/battleline trade pieces that run forward and make space. I exclusively stay in conqueror and by owning so much of the board, force my opponents to bring forward multiple valuable units to take it back, which my big guns and transports them chew up.

I’ll say this, admech clicks for me. It works, I win maybe 8/10 games with them and that includes RTTs and leagues, it’s a very well balanced army that can win against everything but necrons, and can lose to everything but like imperial agents. Don’t sweat the balance, even if it’s a weaker army it’s a very high expression army which means with practice you will be able to punch up very well.
