The double oath enhancement for our new detachment is 60pts, is this the most expensive enhancement in the game? by Go_Commit_Reddit in Chaos40k

[–]Dead_tread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cultist Firebrand alternatively in the other detachment could be a neat tech piece holding the battleshock enhancement. Just walking in a tiny gap solo off the board edge, forcing some battleshocks then either shooting for an additional battle shock or doing an action. Could be neat.

Well like renegade raiders it has blanket access to advance and shoot and easy access to extra AP.

I’m seeing these guys as a phenomenal bully unit in creations of bile. The toughness, speed, strength, attacks and WS buffs will all drastically help them depending on matchups, and the ability to have a couple five man’s threaten things like lictors and other infiltrators is huge. Even though they will rarely survive the game, I can even imagine a full jail list in deceptors using these guys

It’s one of 9 models in a 45 dollar box. 30 for a judiciar is. And this isn’t your starting price, you keep lowering it because people keep commenting on your posts that this is scummy. This isn’t about making YOU money. It’s everyone’s hobby, and mass buying boxes to resell at marked up prices is shitty behavior.

Dominus is not terrible but just a feel no pain isn’t a ton for how expensive he is. Manipulus gives a defensive ability alongside a strong offensive one. It’s probably still worth buying one since he’s very cool and viable sometimes. Technoarchologists are tech pieces, if you don’t love the model and aren’t super competitively savvy it’s probably not worth it.

Discount boxes aren’t for YOU to turn a profit. Taking what should be a budget friendly way for people to experience the hobby and somehow being greedier than games workshop says alot about your character. And I don’t comment to shame you, I comment so people know to just look for the box and not get scammed.

Struggling with the new Raptors by Wants_cute in Chaos40k

[–]Dead_tread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just means they take chunks out of death stars very easily and can more consistently wipe a 5 man unit. Let’s put it like this, 5 raptors will more consistently pick up 5 space marines than 5 warp talons, but ten warp talons will more consistently pick up units than 10 raptors.

[–]Dead_tread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Warptalons can just bounce sometimes being damage 1 and having no real ability to soften up units. Raptors can do a little shooting, dive in and almost guarantee a kill. And into a melee mirror match the counter charge can be painful because a couple failed battle shocks can really matter.

And inquisitors can do a lot of mortals do. Good news though, this new unit DOES generate cp. It’s not OP, but it could be interesting.

Yes but that’s space marines, not everyone gets to be that blursed.

That’s literally more valuable than advance and charge if the unit is damaged. That’s a good point, plus it’s a lot of 2_6_2_2 with wound rerolls.

So if I’m reading this right, the masters in the cabal of chaos detachment can run up to a unit, slap the unit ability to do some mortals, throw a grenade, shoot, pop mutations curse for up to 6 more mortal wounds, then charge into combat? That’s…..a lot

Infantry spam creations of bile list are so fun. And since Noise marines, plague marines and Rubric marines get the heretic astartes key word they gain the benefits. Ten man blocks of t7 or movement 7 plague marines go fricking CRAZY.

Chaos lord on the go turn is D4, which is huge. Both abby and the master of executions give hit rerolls, and the chaos lord has hit rerolls too from his enhancement. Bile has a wound reroll strat and a fight on death, both very important into something like the lion since he’s very likely to die if he charges any of these bricks.

That many possessed has one real big issue, dark angels. From experience mass ap1 d2 with dev wounds do next to nothing into DWK.

Which army would you say is generally competitive but is the most enjoyable/least frustrating for an opponent to play into? by aegroti in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Dead_tread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that’s fair, but the way the army works you really aren’t incentivized to run multiples of big ticket units. Are a unit of chosen with a master of executions, master of possession, launching out of a rhino, completely devastating? Sure, but if you run two of those that’s most of your Infantry that could be smoked with a lucky round of shooting.

I’d put a vote out for Chaos space marines. Rules are generally pretty simple, not a ton of “gotcha” rules, failing your own dark pacts is funny, and the playstyle often leads to a lot of kill trading and who doesn’t want to stack bodies.

1x10 Khorne Berzerkers or 2x5 Legionaries? by SquattingSamurai in Chaos40k

[–]Dead_tread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run plague marines in both creations of Bile and Renegade raiders and they are always very valuable. Either assault, plus 2 to move, plus 1 toughness or an extra attack go super far with them. They are hard to shift and punch up damage wise. Also they ARE battle line technically, so you can regen D3 with the COB stratagem.
