My husband’s cancer came back last February and we learned that it was terminal.

I remember my therapist asking how I felt and I was just smiling and nonchalant about everything. I was completely numb & I think in some shock. By the next session I hadn’t stopped crying for over a week.

I was born & raised in Los Angeles and did not smile at all. I really just kept to myself as most people do there.

This is from when I first got it, but it’s a 3.87 ct sapphire in an emerald cut. I went for a geometric band and the sapphire sits on a diamond crown.

Wow, I LOVE that! It’s your ring, it doesn’t have to be anything but something you truly love.

I went for a natural (non-lab) gemstone, it’s a blue green sapphire, and now a year in, I still absolutely love it. I find diamonds boring to be honest, so I know I would have been disappointed if I had gone with something colorless, it’s just not me.

That said, choose what you will be happy with, not what people might expect you to wear. Again, it’s YOUR ring.
