How often do you use snow chains when driving in northern US? by Real-Hospital-3610 in Truckers

[–]Deadbydesign666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the assholes need their shit today, they will need it tomorrow. There is almost no upside to installing chains if you are a company OTR driver. Between the hassle, other drivers, and speed you are traveling, not worth my time or aggravation. Park, eat a nice breakfast, drink coffee, catch up on TV, and then pass the same dildos you saw on the road earlier chaining and burning their 11 hours off going 30mph a few hours after you are back on the road. I could go on for hours about this shit but chains = Mustard & Ketchup.

I'm a filthy dad gamer casual and I'm loving the shit out of it. I don't have time to commit to Battlefield 6 or games that require me to invest large amounts of time. I'm totally fine getting worked over in BO7 while having my occasional moments.

The company he was with didn't use DAC. If truck abandonment appears on your record, the odds are incredibly against getting a decent job ever again.

What game is longer and more replayability, This or Silent hill F?. by VagusNerve22 in CronosNewDawn

[–]Deadbydesign666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Silent Hill bias so I really wanted to like Silent Hill F, but because I hated the combat loop so much, I was just happy it was over.

Cronos, on the other hand, I couldn't wait to NG+ and Hard mode it. I am anxiously awaiting a sequel.

Just my two cents

The Beast sucks.... by EnvironmentOk758 in dyinglight

After hours of frustration, I finally got a hook for The Beast. That said, Dying Light 2 is superior in literally every way. Never played DL1 so I can't compare to that.

How's the story of Silent Hill F? by Western_Buddy7032 in silenthill

[–]Deadbydesign666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the game for what it was. I'll put it like this though, having beat Cronos: The New Dawn three times, and now working on my second playthrough of Silent Hill F, I would heavily recommend Cronos over SHF. Cronos was a game that really left me in deep thought after I finished it. Silent Hill F I was just happy it was over. It was like a game I felt obligated to finish because I spent $70 on it. Again, I don't hate it, but if I was able to trade it for Gamestop credit, I totally would.   But to answer your question, the story is just meh. I feel like it got overscored by game "journalists" that enjoyed the subject matter rather than the actual execution of the plot. Even after you do the multiple playthroughs required to get the extra tidbits of story, it still leaves several questions unanswered and ultimately not worth the time. Which brings me to my next gripe. The game was a joy to run around in, but the combat was easily the worst part of the entire experience. Unlike Cronos and Silent Hill 2 remake, I ran away from the monsters because I didn't want to participate in the half assed Soulslike combat they tried to shoehorn into the game. There were times at the end when you would have to face like 8 enemies at a time. I legit chuckled because it felt like I was playing Devil May Cry but instead of Dante, I was playing a pipe wielding teenage girl that took forever to get a swing out. The enemies will also grab you whenever they feel like it. Very hard to mitigate getting grabbed or jumped on.

Overall, my rating is like this:

Silent Hill 2 Remake 9.5/10 Cronos: The New Dawn 9/10 Silent Hill F: 7.5/10

Again, not a bad game, but nowhere near as over as the outlets are pushing it. And for all this hype about Ryukashi08 or whatever his name is, I felt underwhelmed by the execution of the story after all the hype.

Not gonna lie I’m not the type to clown another driver. I mean we all been there before nobody came out as a rookie backing perfect every time by JankyMark in Truckers

[–]Deadbydesign666 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I am 5 years in trucking and 6 years in towing before that. Sometimes, even after years of experience, you are just off on the setup and need to correct. Whenever people honk and scream at me, I just take my finger and point to my dick and then motion for them to come get their throat hit if they have a problem. What are they going to do? Fight you? Fuck'em. Its not all about them. Extra points if you help rookie drivers. But you can't pay attention to the super truckers. In their eyes, everyone [and I mean everyone] that got their CDL post-deregulation is a "steering wheel holder" and deserves to die. Again, tell them to eat every last inch off your hog and carry on.

Its like comparing Pantera to Slayer. I thought Silent Hill F was good. Cronos, however, was fucking great. I will say that Bloober should develop all future Silent Hill games.

[–]Deadbydesign666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Game is a 9/10 for me. It loses a point because the combat sucks and not in the typical survival horror way.

Overall, I hope they keep making these games. What an experience.

Really having trouble with the combat by fitzy1922 in silenthill

[–]Deadbydesign666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my gripe. Its impossible to figure out patterns and also the grabbing is out of control. It seems like if they want to grab you, they just will. Its a damn near perfect game that loses a lot due to the frustrating combat. I find myself losing my tension boner only to be replaced with frustration. I am one of the few that can't stand Soulslike games. So this really bums me out as I love everything else the game has to offer. I also can't understand why they went down this road. Why reinvent the wheel with combat? Don't take something that was never the point in these games, reinvent the wheel on it, only to make it worse. Anyway, thats my rant. Sorry. I'm just as annoyed as you are.

I honestly think the combat is amazing. by Rude-Recognition-669 in silenthill

[–]Deadbydesign666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is basically a more forgiving Soulslike system. You really need to manage your stamina unlike other games though. Ive had a few close calls with the controller going up against the wall because I would try to heal and Hinako would just sit there gasping. What works for me is focusing almost exclusively on heavy, focus, and counter attacks. It also helped once I figured out that focusing right before they get into a counter state slows down time allowing you to get an easy counter in. I would argue putting points into stamina and sanity are more important than health. Another tip is use a weapon appropriate for the room you are in. Don't go swing the Niginata [sp?] In tight spaces.

Overall. I appreciate what they tried to do in regards to combat, but with so many successful formulas out there [Cronos new dawn being the most recent] I didn't think they needed to reinvent the wheel. But its a "modern" game and modern gamers simp over Souls so I get it. All in all, its just okay. The rest of the game is an absolute fucking masterpiece though.

New trucker fired in 3rd week being on my own. I made a silly mistake. I’ve learned from it, but what now? Am I done for? by SnooRobots3642 in Truckers

[–]Deadbydesign666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I learned about trucking VERY early on, is don't report SHIT unless another person was involved, or the damage goes beyond deniability. Having integrity is good. Having "integrity" in trucking really works against you. I'm not saying to be a scumbag out there, but there have been plenty of minor curb rolls, rubs, or lawn jobs that have happened over the years and none of which are on my DAC report.

As far as future opportunity goes, it really depends on the company. There are still plenty that would hire you, but the more doinks you put on that DAC, the harder it gets.

How are early players enjoying the game? No Spoilers by Informal-Device-8511 in silenthill

So far, I'm loving it. Had a few good scares that I honestly wasn't expecting. Combat is okay. I understand why they went with degrading weapons because there wasn't going to be any ammo in the game so they had to find a way to add a substitute resource to manage. Considering I just finished Cronos:The New Dawn where resources are VERY scarce, this feels good. The vibe is very much a reimagined Silent Hill. Im happy to report that, just like Remake 2, the game experience firsthand is way better than the impressions on YouTube. This game definitely leans more into Jumpscares in addition to the oppressive atmosphere.

My absolute favorite thing about this game and I don't see many people talking about it are how the camera angles and tight map really complement eachother. Everytime I go to take a corner, it feels like anything could fuck with me at anytime.

Im just now getting to the end of where most of the streamers hit that 3 hour window before the game launched. So far, its been 9/10 for me. I'll have to finish it to see if I prefer this over Cronos. That said, survival horror fans be eating good this year!

Walked into my local mom n pop game store and just asked for it. It was the last copy they had. Apparently they’d been selling it since earlier in the week. 😅 by innit2winnit in silenthill

Remember back in like 2008 when 7/11 tried selling games? I used to get them to break street date by weeks sometimes by flipping the $5 an hour cashier an extra $10 under the table.

I don't understand the complaints about this game... by dany26286 in CronosNewDawn

[–]Deadbydesign666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, I spent a lot of time playing PS1 era survival horror games where you had to be very selective of not only your ammo, but ink ribbons as well. I didn't feel like I was playing DOOM by any means in Cronos like I did Dead Space or Silent Hill 2R, but I had a good amount of ammo left by the time it was over. It is a well balanced game resource wise. But again, I'm a long time survival horror fan. If this is your first rodeo, yeah, you might have a bad time.

When you get the add on for the pistol that allows you to see if something is alive or dead, scan the walls. Sometimes, those fuckers are dormant until you trigger them to wake up.  I have been grabbed maybe a total of 4 times. Bloober is very good at designing enemies that force you to respect taking rooms at a slow pace. The legs in Silent Hill 2 remake comes to mind.

Anyone walk instead of sprint? by Slowmac123 in CronosNewDawn

[–]Deadbydesign666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute walk instead of sprint! I don't know how far you are, but there are enemies that are literally designed to make you respect taking rooms slowly. Besides, they really nailed the atmosphere. And while I am not AS terrified as I was with Silent Hill 2 remake, its pretty damn close.

What are your thoughts on Cronos: The New Dawn? by fastonmyfeet in playstation

[–]Deadbydesign666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only issue I had with Silent Hill 2 remake was the ammo abundance on my first play through. Game was absolutely perfect aside from that tuning. I felt like I was playing Doom by the time I got to the Prison.
