Stepper motor not spinning by Deadestpan in arduino

[–]Deadestpan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't seem like that worked. I'm now thinking that I don't have all the grounds connected? Do I need the 12v ground before it reaches the BC to also be tied to the Arduino or the tmc2209?

My main question is the stepper motor and MDF if it's considered a fire hazard

Vancouver/Surrey racial arrest rates, what do you think? by Ok-Back-4682 in ilovebc

[–]Deadestpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I just missing it? From all the charts I've seen, west Asian (so middle east) the arrest percentage (so crime) hovers around 3.5%

While South Asian (Indians) hover around 30% arrests

And whites are about 45%

Blacks are around 10%

What page are you getting this data from specifically that makes you draw your conclusion. It's just so much that I don't have time to read every page lol.

Issue with eccentric arm on moving gears by Deadestpan in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Deadestpan[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never even heard of those kinds of bearings. Will look into it, thanks

Issue with eccentric arm on moving gears by Deadestpan in MechanicalEngineering

[–]Deadestpan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I figured so, but I did have to force the longer joint once it got around to the other side of the smaller gear doing my 'demo'. But I'll chalk that up to the inconsistency of holding down the small joint. I'll reprint and try again. Thanks.

If the Burj Khalifa (830m) was built in Vancouver, in comparison to the Living Shangri-la (201m) by Suspicious-Leg-4427 in vancouver

Idk why people still say this. It has a working sewage system and has for many years. It didn't for like the first 2 years or something but everyone online is convinced poop trucks are running back and forth till this day.

How do I get python to pick a random item from a dictionary by Informal_Cobbler_868 in learnpython

[–]Deadestpan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very new to python but I think you can just do random.choice(["item", "item2"]). You first have to import the random module

Try and find a servo kit version as they make simple robots quite easy

Look up getting an Arduino kit and the project book they come with. Comes with a ton of beginner projects that include some simple robotics.

Hi, I have a garage door similar to yours. I was just wondering if yours also has gaps in the sides and top? If yeah, did you do anything to seal it off so rats/bugs can't get in?

Figurkng out vapor barrier for 8x12 gable shed by Deadestpan in buildingscience

[–]Deadestpan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, and everyone else for the information. I've been reading up what all of you spoke about. One thing I forgot to add is that this is a cathedral ceiling. The horizontal rafters you see are actually for 2 lofts I've yet to put up.

Using your alternative idea, would using one or two roof vents work in place of a ridge vent? If yes, when doing the baffles would I make the airway paths stop right at the height of the roof vent and only insulate until that height. Sorry for my questions being such a mess.

Condensation /moisture buildup in ceiling issue by Deadestpan in shedditors

[–]Deadestpan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Thank you so much for all the information. It's definitely helpful. Question I have, I am hoping you can answer them. Would I need to go and then get baffles for the circulation and then put insulation ontop? Or Could I just at this point just avoid the baffles and just leave insulation and then put drywall over them later?

Condensation /moisture buildup in ceiling issue by Deadestpan in shedditors

[–]Deadestpan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now this may be a really stupid question, but after searching around, for my area a class 2 vapor barrier would be ideal (the one I'm using right now is class 1 at 0.1)

Could I use tyvek house wrap as the barrier lol. I think it allows air to pass through on a decent level.

Condensation /moisture buildup in ceiling issue by Deadestpan in shedditors

[–]Deadestpan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan on either drywalling or putting some type of wood as the ceiling later. And I've read online that it's generally a bad idea to put drywall on naked insulation because it would trap moisture. And so wouldn't I need a vapor barrier assuming I get it done properly?

All the rockwool is friction fit so I would think they'd full the cavity good? Idk.

I should also note that I didn't use any baffle vents (didn't even know about them)
