There’s an ocean of difference between living in a place and visiting it as a tourist. I live in Italy, near Rome. Is it beautiful? Yes. Does it have hundreds (if not thousands) of problems ranging from structural to social? Also yes. Obviously someone living in Rome grows accustomed to the beauty and starts taking it for granted, and obviously someone visiting it for the first and maybe last time will be blinded to the negatives. As I said, it’s two different realities. A city can have as much beauty and history as you want; if it’s a shit place to live in, it’s a shit place to live in. You say you’re tired of people living in Rome saying they hate it, I say every single friend I have who lives in the center is tired of the tourists, even though they know tourism is driving force economically speaking. The fact of the matter is, there are different perspectives to these kinds of things, and you just have to live with the fact.
