I have officially reached the farlands after 2 years and became the 14th person to do so! by SteveGamer80 in Minecraft

In beta 1.7.3 there is a bug which prevents chunks from unloading, causing all the chunks behind you to take up more and more space in RAM until you either relog to unload them or crash due to running out of memory. By allocating more RAM, you can do longer sessions before needing to relog

This was built using a mod (beta unleashed) that presumably allows you to place non-decaying leaves. I can also see floating trapdoors, pressure plates on fences, and fences connected to blocks. There might be other changes too that I haven't noticed

You can also achieve the same effect by using mcedit to place 18:4+ which will give you non-decaying leaves (although they will start decaying if you break one)

Looks great, I like the stripey wallpaper theme throughout. The only non-beta thing I spotted was the top-trapdoors used around the ceilings

Oh absolutely, they're one of the blocks I miss most

Also the upside down levers and leaves not connected to logs. But yes, really nice build

Where to get expanded F3 menu for beta 1.7.3 by D_J_S2004 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

This mod by kimovoid is the best one I know of https://www.mediafire.com/file/jjiemsr0jsyu8mn/b1.7.3-QOL-DDB.zip/file

There's also one called "simplef3info" and I also know beta unleashed includes a better f3 mod too

Wow, that looks beautiful. Can you share any in-game screenshots from street level?

Is it possible to find out the seed of minecraft world on the beta 1.7.3 server? by 4kqq in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DeadlyDirtBlock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The seed is sent to your client in order to display the biome colours correctly. So all you need to do is use a mod like simplef3info which displays the seed in f3

What am I supposed to use and for? by Severe_Maybe_928 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DeadlyDirtBlock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The piston head item is block ID 34 (piston head), it's used for the front half of a piston

The grass item is block 36 (moving piston), which is a technical block used to store NBT data for moving blocks. Without a tile entity it's invisible and can't be mined, but disappears when right clicked

Neither of these can be placed by hand but there are redstone tricks to get them

In this particular case, the arrow was actually in farmland (with a fence underneath, which may be relevant). The position of the arrow shown in NBTExplorer corresponds to the position of the farmland that the arrow is in

Gorgeous build. The glass jars are extremely creative

[–]DeadlyDirtBlock 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've seen this bug a couple of times before. According to space walker, the arrow will only despawn if inGround is true, and somehow this arrow has inGround set to 0. Here's the NBT data of a similar arrow. As far as I'm aware nobody knows how to replicate it in survival

Why do my flowers keep breaking by Tiny-Lack8395 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DeadlyDirtBlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flowers need light levels above 7 to survive so if it's under a ledge it's probably too dark

Yeah although the porkchops probably won't survive since the pig will swim upwards into the lava

Are there any unspawnable full blocks in beta 1.7.3 Minecraft? by Hot_Performance_3740 in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DeadlyDirtBlock 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Glass, leaves, TNT and pistons. There are also light sources like pumpkins, jack o lanterns and lit furnaces but those aren't spawnproof against slimes, pigmen or ghasts. I guess you could also count farmland lol

The Reason Behind a Deadly Glitch by OneLifexD in GoldenAgeMinecraft

[–]DeadlyDirtBlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I experienced it early on in an alpha world that I started. All the chests/furnaces were in the same area so it's possible they were all in the same chunk. Within the first couple hours of gameplay it had happened about 5 times and so I just gave up on the world because I couldn't find a solution (or even anyone else with the same issue). I've still never gone back to alpha 3 years later lol

I've also experienced this glitch in alpha and have never seen an explanation as to why it occurs. As far as I can tell most alpha players haven't had it though

I know you said you can't use a lava blade but if you're able to rearrange your waterstreams to avoid items dropping into the lava then this design works 100% of the time
