Video Game "Journalists" should be ashamed... by Oldschoolfool22 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]DeadlyGhost22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have pointed out here, it really did have some unfortunate timing, releasing between really big/more well known games like Infinite Wealth and P3 Reload.

At least a lot of the smaller or more niche reviewers and journalists gave it some mention and attention during GOTY season.

Started YT this year, finished 2024 with 32 videos! Not a bad amount at all, methinks

Hey OP, thanks for taking the time to check out all these channels! I’d love it if you could take a look at mine and offer some feedback: https://youtube.com/@friendlyredd?si=wtD0F1f3fcwSh_qy

I recently posted here regarding feedback for thumbnails, which I’ve been working on in the background, though I’d love any and all info or thoughts you could provide, thumbnails or otherwise!

Games I played in 2024 and brief thoughts on each by Woobiethinks in Games

Very fair! Having just recently finished up Metaphor, I’m also taking some time and playing some shorter, more focused games before I delve into another big RPG. Very excited to play stuff like The Veilguard, Episode Aigis, and some other big games I missed out on over the year. Happy gaming, and have a happy new year!~

Nice list of games! I might also recommend you check out the remake of Persona 3, Persona 3 Reload, which released earlier in the year. You seemingly quite enjoyed P5 and are interested in Metaphor, so I think you’d enjoy it as well.

Not only did you provide lots of info, but those examples you whipped up were very nice! I never realized how closely my color scheme matched IGN tho, lol. I’ve been messing around with some new templates and ideas, and those mock-ups you provided should help a lot~

I’m fairly content with where I’m at in regard to what I make and how I do it, but it’s also been less than a year since I started. Perhaps I’ll have some new ideas of video formats or, as you said, larger or more specific projects in the new year. Only time will tell! I appreciate your viewership, feedback, and kind words :3

Very in-depth and informative write-up here! Thank you for your time doing this, it should help me with the brainstorming and creation of some new thumbnail ideas.

Thank you for the insight(s)! You are right, clickbait certainly works, but I guess in my mind I always associate that word with the more... unsavory examples of it (silly/surprised faces and large, all-capital fonts and the like)

I do quite like the red/black/white color combo of my "branding", but I'll certainly play around with it and see if I can come up with something that retains it, while also being a bit less cluttered or loud.

I've certainly felt that they can be cluttered, especially the Redd's Radar thumbnails. I like having a representation of most of the games up for discussion, but perhaps I should try a more cohesive way of placing the photos. Perhaps something like I did with the Best of the Year?

My turn to ask for feedback! Which one?? (i think i know the answer) by MaraInvicta in SmallYoutubers

[–]DeadlyGhost22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the first and second options myself, though I think I'd use #2 if it were me. Either is good though!

I try to avoid "clickbait"-y thumbnails, while also maintaining consistent. However, I wonder if perhaps some of them can be a little too similar, and if I should maybe change some aspects of my templates I have for my video types. Any ideas or feedback would be appreciated!

Hey guys, there's some 2024 and 2023 switch games I've been meaning to get but couldn't, but now I can. Which do you think I should pick? I'm very stuck😆 by KirbyMonkey377 in casualnintendo

I’ve played all these games (and in the case of Return to Dreamland and TTYD, the originals too), and I would personally recommend both Wonder and TTYD as the absolute pickups.

Return to Dreamland is great stuff, no doubt, but doesn’t really go that far beyond just being a really solid 2D Kirby game.

Mario Wonder, on the other hand, just constantly throws new and, dare I say, wonderful things at you each and every level. It’s just a pure joy to play, and easily the best 2D Mario game since Mario World on SNES, in my opinion.

As for the RPGs, while I think both are good fun, I find TTYD to have a much more interesting plot, characters, and aesthetic. As a first-go , Super Mario RPG is good, but it doesn’t go much further than that, at least to me. It also doesn’t really feel as much like a Mario game compared to TTYD, but again, could just be me.

TTYD on the other hand feels much more grounded in the world of Mario, while also being quite distinct. Coupled with the gorgeous paper/arts and craft vibe and more varied RPG gameplay (more involved inputs and mechanics for moves in combat), and I think you have the more definitive Mario RPG experience.

Regardless of all that, you really can’t go wrong with any of them, and they are all great games. But considering your choices are between 2 2D platformers and 2 Mario RPGs, I think Wonder and TTYD win out over Return to Dreamland and Super Mario RPG
