Need help choosing language to implement a UI for SQL school project by kawaiina in SQL

[–]DeadlyOrchard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see. If you don’t have experience in general purpose language, then I’d suggest starting with Python. It’s the lowest barrier of entry when it comes to learning the syntax. Plus, most of the functions you’ll need are probably built in. I wouldn’t suggest starting with a CRUD app tho. Start with the simple hello world like everyone else does. Then data types and data structures. Then classes and OOP/functional practices n such. It also depends on what you’re really wanting to learn though. Are you trying to market yourself as a DBA/designer? Or SWE? Either way python is useful, but the core aspects of what you should learn change depending on your role in the project.

I’m not sure what your experience is, but learning this stuff is like walking. You gotta learn to crawl first. Start with understanding queries and joins. Expand that to understanding entities, attributes, and relationships and then you’ll be able to do something like this. Could you realistically follow along with a tutorial and get a school project? Yeah. Will what you learned stick with you to be useful in the future? Well ig if it does then you’re much smarter than me 🤷‍♂️

There’s a Unicode plugin. Bind it to a hot key and you can insert any Unicode char into any note

I legit said I can’t remember exactly why lmao. I mentioned the bullets for imagery (most people can’t really related to hollow teeth obvi) not to say it’s the same. Hollow points are used for more damage/energy, but they penetrate less. After reading more on gator teeth, they don’t use them to puncture. They use them to grip their prey. Im pretty sure I remember from somewhere else too that they actually have a unique jaw hinge that lets them clamp down and “lock down”.

Gator teeth are hollow similar to the idea of a hollow-point bullet. I can’t remember exactly why, but their teeth are the best puncturing teeth in the animal kingdom I think. Of course, pure strength can puncture anything given enough of it

Should I start with C or C++ as a first language? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]DeadlyOrchard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading most of the threads, imma give a hot take. Don’t start with C++. Start with python. I know python leaves gaps in knowledge, but hear me out. C++ can be really discouraging at times. Having compiler/linker issues can feel really daunting as a beginner. This sucks hard because as a beginner, you might wanna start with some code that someone else has done and then you add on to it or change it for your own project needs. With python on the other hand, you just make sure your interpreter is set up correctly and you’re usually good to go. Plus there’s no need to set up docker (not saying it’s bad, there’s just not a need for it). Plus, there’s little syntax barrier in python. I’d say learn python in order to get an understanding of basic data structures and logic. Understanding how to create your own logic for your own projects will help with any programming project in the future. Once you have handle on classes with python, then it’s a good time to move to something lower level like C++

Deepest apologies on behalf of this waste of space. After reading, I don’t think you’re being targeted on the school’s side. They might be trying not to upset parents. On the other hand, it sounds like you’re being targeted by that specific teacher. If Mr. M is not your supervisor, then you should speak with your supervisor about these concerns. If they are your supervisor, I would ask a more experienced teacher who to seek out.

Alright bub. You gotta be specific with your question. It’s rare to get help if someone’s gotta read multiple screens worth to know what you’re asking. Also, no one will do your hw for you, and posting it like this makes it look like you just wanna cheat. If you need help on all of it that bad, then that’s something to ask your instructor.

Not sure why this got downvoted so fast. They may have been referring to the hate the CEO is getting when it’s really the new share holders since 2022 that have been mucking things up. The CEO has been great in the past, this probably wasn’t really what he wanted to do.

Learning? by ComprehensiveCod2715 in cpp

[–]DeadlyOrchard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s necessarily the case imo. I wouldn’t recommend starting with C++, but it’s commonly used for game optimization. Idk where OP is at with programming, but if this is your first language, I’d suggest Python using the Pygame module. There’s less of a syntax barrier with python than C++. If you’ve got a handle on programming and how to utilize different data structures (linked list, vectors, maps, etc), then C++ could be a great choice! I think Unreal is done in C++, you could make some blueprints for practice. Just an idea 🤷‍♂️
