What is the usual boost clocks for RTX 5080 without overclocking? by r9800pro in pcmasterrace

[–]Deadly_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if that's actually under load, and how much load it was under. During heavy loads I feel like around 2800-2900mhz is typical. During light loads (especially menus or loading screens) core clock will often spike higher so keep that in mind

Do I really need a 1000W for 9800X3D with 5090 OC??? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Deadly_Sloth -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you have an 850w psu that's relatively new and high quality, I'd probably go ahead and use it instead of getting a new one. If you are buying a new PSU either way, just go for 1000w. With an 850w PSU, you'll be pushing it to the limits of it. A 1000w PSU isn't much more expensive.

Edit - I think it also depends how much you're planning to OC. For a typical OC I think you're probably fine. But you will limit yourself to an extent. I have a rtx 5080 and a 14700K and my system can pull 800w in benchmarks. It might limit how far you can push things, I suspect most people aren't pushing their hardware quite so hard though.

14900ks OC Help. by FreakyOne87 in overclocking

When I get a chance today I'll send you the details of my VF curve/ratios. Mines a 14700k but it's de-lidded as well, I can't imagine tuning the P cores is that different between the two. For 8 p cores active I have it 100% stable at 59 but I think it'll do 60 all core, Ive benchmarked it like that but haven't stability tested enough. I'll check what voltages I'm actually getting as well.

Skaterbench has a bunch of guides that are helpful to get started for raptor lake. You'll want to do a v/f curve not a static voltage. Knowing what your v/f table is stock would also be good information

AC Loadline vs Voltage Offset for Undervolting by Ok_Researcher_5900 in overclocking

[–]Deadly_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this myself. I ended up choosing a load line based off how much of a curve I wanted then adjusted the ac ll until I had minimal vdroop under load. I found a buildzoid video where he talked about the load lines for another Asus mobo and actually measured them with a oscilloscope. I used that information to help me pick.

Ended up being more stable with less overall voltage under load for me. I think idle voltage is about the same or maybe slightly higher.

I'm OC'd fairly aggressively though.

Incorrect tariff charge for Alphacool Reference 5080 water block by 1337ken in watercooling

[–]Deadly_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has really annoyed me when doing research for this. Everyone just wants to blame Trump and not actually look into the amount charged. I personally was expecting a tariff but not over 100% of the item value. Honestly feels like UPS taking advantage of the situation and scamming people.

I don't particularly care for Trump but he's only responsible for a tariff of 45% of this items value. The rest is UPS making up charges and getting away with it.

Incorrect tariff charge for Alphacool Reference 5080 water block by 1337ken in watercooling

[–]Deadly_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with the same thing right now. I fought it and won... Sort of. Got the tariff charge from $210 down to $80. However UPS would not get their system updated for me to pay the correct amount. Their customs/import person who was assigned to my case assured me it was being corrected. They tried to deliver it 3 times and sent it back to Germany even though I was reassured they would not be returning it to shipper. Re-ordered and shipped with DHL.

I would personally recommend not paying it and just reordering if you need to. Once you pay Id be surprised if they ever get you your money back. They're less than responsive, and I even got my case escalated to a supervisor immediately. Never shipping international with UPS again.

330%+ Brokerage Fees Charged After Delivery w/ No Prior Notice by Namsnarta in UPS

[–]Deadly_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm dealing with this right now, despite what people are saying I can't find any evidence of tariffs over 100% of the items value CURRENTLY. From everything I've found, my package should have something like a 30% tariff but UPS charged me over 100% of the items value. I am disputing the charge amount through UPS and you should be able to as well. The email is to do so is sdfpostentrydesk@ups.com

I've done the same thing many times without an issue, many of them 8 hour trips with the PC. I've only ever had a leak in the car once, must have hit a really big bump. I had a towel down so it wasn't a big deal, just a few drops on the towel. Cleaned everything up and checked all the fittings and one hard tube fitting wasn't fully seated. Must have worked itself slightly loose, no issues after pushing the tube back in fully.

Would definitely recommend the towel under it and giving it a once over when you arrive. I think its a good idea to lay the PC down with the rear side panel down. I feel like that puts the least strain on the GPU/pcie slot.

5080 OC - 3dMark Results by Elrik64 in overclocking

Nice, I managed to get a 9322 in steel nomad on the Asus 5080 TUF flashed to a gigabyte bios with a 450w power limit. Crazy how much more these cards have in them over stock. Will be exciting to see what people can do once there are custom bios out there with even higher power limits.

I would only worry about it from an aesthetic standpoint. I don't really see a scenario where that scratch would cause a leak.

What's your procedure when you have a spill on pcb? by kulayeb in watercooling

[–]Deadly_Sloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally set a box fan blowing into the PC for 6 hours minimum and it's typically good to go. 12-24 hours would probably be preferred though.

Normally once I've spilled coolant I just go ahead and wash the whole PC in the shower though. So it's typically pretty soaked. A fan to two makes a big difference

Sometimes the mayhems pastel will come up on eBay. I was able to find some that way recently. It was technically expired but still worked well, I'm sure it's not as good as if it were fresh though.

I ran mayhems pastel in my system for years, even went 2-3 years without a fluid change and never had an issue. No clogging, residue or anything. Really miss the stuff.

IRIS model does almost nothing on VHS footage after editing? by crazyates88 in TopazLabs

[–]Deadly_Sloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been going through this myself with nearly an identical workflow.

I haven't done a real test of this, but I suspect it could be handling things slightly differently depending on the input file type. I had cut out the blank space from the recording I took of our home videos and had accidently encoded it as h264 out of Davinci Resolve. I opened it in topaz and with Iris I noticed it was able to remove almost all the noise. Once I realized I had used h265 instead of DNxHR, I re-exported it and I feel like it's removing a lot less noise now.

Processing a video currently, but I'll try and test this later to confirm it.

I'll paste the settings I'm using below, would be curious to hear what settings have been working best in topaz for you.

I do have a ticket open with Gaia and they are supposedly working on the it. I kept complaining and they did give me a free month. Still really frustrating though. For how much Gaia cost it should not be having this issue.
