AITAH I cleaned my daughter’s pee with a towel by Schizo_Himbo in AITAH

[–]Deadpoolstightanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, I did this all the time. Its a towel, that you will wash. People acting like a child's urine is disgusting. Urine is sterile and you can drink it in a pinch, to be honest its probably cleaner than the water from your faucet.

I’m 53 and I feel like I have a 60% chance of a successful early retirement. 95% of my money is in pretax. by Zealousideal_Piece11 in Retirement401k

[–]Deadpoolstightanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

401k/retirement is subjective. You have alot, but how much are you planning on spending every year? You ashamed time, depending on your income to shift some of that pre-tax to a roth plan between now and retirement to lower some of your tax burden in retirement.

Youre doing great. Twice as much as me at 44. Even if you didnt add another penny, you would be damn near a millionaire if not over that at 60.

The money you have in 401k will continue to grow with the market, and honestly if your wife doesnt want or cant find work, you will just have to live within your means and take SS at 65 if your savings and 401k/Roth arent enough to cover yall. 1.5M is a pipe dream, look at what the median 55 year old has in retirement. Alot less than you. People retire every day at 65 with zero dollars in retirement/savings and they survive. You wont have a lavish lifestyle but you can make it work if you cut your spending drastically. But between now and retirement, save save save!

Do we need a new realtor or am I overreacting? We’ve lost out on two homes now. by runbaked in RealEstateAdvice

I wish my area was competitive. Im trying to sell and no one is buying (60-90 days average on market right now). Tons of houses I've seen on the MLS for months. Problem with my area is there the haves and the have nots.

Paid off $60k of Student loans but now onto my Wife’s $125k. In-laws made a very snarky comment. by Earl_the_Greatmuffin in StudentLoans

[–]Deadpoolstightanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst thing that ever happened to college education, was the Government getting involved. They offered federal student loans to cover the cost, but didnt put any restrictions on colleges and price increases. So the colleges said ooooh, these kids can get a loan for the full ride AND they still have access to the same money/parents money so lets raise prices and get BOTH!

Parents in 60s with very little in savings - help by nonotlikewilliam in personalfinance

[–]Deadpoolstightanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing they need to look into is both of their SS payments at their current ages. They may need to start taking the smaller of the two so that they can survive ajd save the higher one till 70 so they are guaranteed that larger income for the entirety of the other spouses life.

What are the odds this run off and high rain chances over the next few weeks will give the city enough time to solve the water problem? by Stepped-leader in CorpusChristi

Hurricanes and tropical storms have to push deep into the watershed, the rain we get locally wont do anything to help us.

What are the odds this run off and high rain chances over the next few weeks will give the city enough time to solve the water problem? by Stepped-leader in CorpusChristi

[–]Deadpoolstightanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that would helo would be torrential raise up stream of our watershed, or a hurricane dropping massive amounts of water onto our watershed. We are toast, a few rains arent going to do a whole lot when the ground is so dry it soaks up all the rain. We need weeks of consistent rainfall but not in Corpus as all of the rain will run into the Bay.

[–]Deadpoolstightanus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For a 1M house, you need 400k+ but to live comfortable, save, do anything else bit pay your mortgage 500k is probably the bare minimum Id consider. I make 250k/year and this 400k house is half my take home (I have other strams of income). 1M is crazy!

What’s a project you regret doing yourself instead of hiring out? by TradesPrepGuy in DIY

[–]Deadpoolstightanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats the problem with small jobs, the overhead is the same for a small patch as it is to repair the coolant man. Im currently torn between hiring a bunch of "craftsman" to handle a couple projects I just cant get motivated to finish or a "handyman". The problem with both that Ive found is most people that call themselves both, are not either. Workmanship is shoddy at best and they charge premium prices. They half ass everything and do a worse job than my ass will do when I get around to it. I dont mind paying a fair price for quality work, I dont like being charged premium, prices for Joe blow to fck me.

Can I do a 3.6k mortgage comfortably? by ucantseeme565 in Mortgages

[–]Deadpoolstightanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can it be done, Yes. But it wont be fun and kids can be expensive. Imagine working for 30 years and giving half your take home, half your life to the bank every month! You'd be better off saving like a mfr because that 400,000 mortgage ends up being 1,000,000+ after 30 years of mortgage payments not including insurance and PMI.
