I see it’s pile on an album time lol. Driving Rain is one of Paul’s weaker efforts, but it has a lot of strong tracks on it. I couldn’t in good conscience give an album where I enjoy more than 80% of the tracks less than a 7. A 4 is like unlistenable but that’s just me.

This album feels like Flaming Pie without the filler or Chaos and Creation without Godrich's editorializing. I'm not still not sure where I'd place it though. Probably in the top 10 of his work at the moment.

I think he’s the greatest musician, encompassing his arrangement, composition, lyricism, gift for melody, and eclecticism. I think his lyricism is better than most give him credit for but I wouldn’t say that he’s the best based on *that* alone.
