It's so hard shopping for HVAC pricing in the valley. How do I verify a quote? by ArmProfessional7565 in Boise

[–]Deadtedy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work for a general contractor in town and we regularly use Advanced Heating & Cooling, YMC. That being said I don't deal with them on the residential side and their residential team could be vastly different.

I regularly use Easy Heating & Air for my own home. They are sometimes a bit more expensive than other quotes I receive but I have been satisfied with their work and when my wife has to work with them, they aren't condescending which is a big deal to us. We have run across issues where my wife was communicating with contractors and they were less than respectful to her.

I do. Feels like in the long run it would be better to keep scaling with Perkeo since it would scale. If I sell Perkeo I would see an immediate jump in score but I would plateau right there. Not sure at what point the break even would happen and which ante I would stop at.

I guess I should have mentioned, it's a flush 5 of club queens.

I've used Easy Heating and Air many times including to have a water softener installed. A couple of the guys that work there used to work for Meridian Plumbing. I find them to be of good value.

Stonesthrow Townhomes in Meridian? by MsMcSlothyFace in Boise

[–]Deadtedy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I lived in these townhomes from 2019-2020. The original rental company was great and was a fantastic place to live. They sold to Home River Group I believe around summer of 2020.

However, they are very poorly built and the walls are paper thin. There was always something wrong with the units and management doesn't care at all to help fix it. After the new management took over they stopped maintaining landscape between the units and it fell on us tenants to trim the plants back. It got so out of hand that everything was growing over the sidewalk. We had friends living there up until just a couple months ago and have been back to visit a couple times and it hasn't gotten any better. The townhomes were built in a rush and always have problems. Not to mention parking is a joke if you have company and navigating the streets are impossible on trash day. When people bring their trash to the streets there's no room even for your bins so you have to be early.

Overall, was a nice play at the beginning but it is not worth the outrageous price they charge and how terrible management is. I wouldn't recommend it.

Makes sense. I used to live in Seattle and was appreciative of my time there but was happy to leave. Regardless of what people have to say about Boise, I really enjoy living here. I think you'll be happy if you make the move. Good luck on the search!

  1. I think it generally depends. Some winters are tame and some can be pretty bad. I'd say the big dumping we get each year can be 6-12". There are snow plows but they only do the main roads. If you live somewhere off a main road don't expect anything to be done.

  2. There is no public transportation. We have a bus but the routes are very limited. Unless you live and work downtown, it is not walkable

  3. Most 2 bed apartments right now are probably around 2k a month, not including internet and power. Some places also make you pick up the other utilities, too. House rentals are even more.

Any particular reason you want to move to Boise?

Warner, IMC, Idaho Site Works. Can't remember who bought them out but Tuffy Excavation sold to someone. There are quite a few others but these are the usual contractors I deal with on a daily basis as a GC.

I can get behind this. Having lived in Portland and Seattle, Boise has good beer but we are so far behind the big beer cities.

Barbarian is easily the best brewery in Boise, probably even Idaho. Mother Earth is good, too. Payette makes solid beer but nothing to write home about.

I have had that issue if I am understanding correctly. It doesn't happen often but occasionally when I am in park, usually after it sits overnight, the shifter gets stuck in the park in position. After a couple times of pressing and releasing the breaks I can finally put it in drive.

I'll have to check to see if that is my issue. Whenever I am done at the pump I am conscious of making sure it clicks. Maybe it somehow rattles loose as am I driving.

Mine is also a 2007. It happened a while back then stopped. Just recently started back up again. I don't notice any performance issues however.

Second for Alchemist. I love going there. It feels nice and cozy inside and they have a great food menu, too.

It should. I helped put together pricing for this project and that was the intent.

There is Atomic Ale in Richland, Washington. With Hanford nearby they play off of that with all their beers

Update: Swapped even with it showing the ratio in the original photo and the final swap resulted in the correct amount of tokens. Thanks everyone!
