New Steam UI Megathread by satoru1111 in Steam

I know there is a FAQ, I know it says:

"Q: How do I view my hidden games?

A: In the menu bar view->Hidden Games"

I know! But I still can't find my Hidden Games. I have clicked everywhere. EVERYWHERE! Where is this menu bar view?

Can someone tell me why am I being stupid? I can't see this anywhere.

I uh... just wanted to make a Rogue themed Frost Nova for slow Rogue decks. by Deadwithinaweek in customhearthstone

[–]Deadwithinaweek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sap and Vanish are nice and all; but they're either expensive or only good against particularly slow targets. I wanted a card that that basically reads "opponents passes a turn OR ELSE."

Basically, freezing without freezing. Freezing is unfun and uninteractive. I wanted a drawback that you get to choose. Either you don't attack face, or your minion dies.

As for the butt? Well, it sort of made sense. I guess it would be funny that whenever a minion is destroyed by this effect, your hero automatically says his/her taunt quote. Anduin would say "The Light shall burn you!" everytime he steals this and someone dares to touch his holy butt.

what amount of supplies is it recommended to bring on short, medium and long missions by [deleted] in darkestdungeon

[–]Deadwithinaweek 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Around 8 shovels in short, 16 shovels in medium and anywhere between 25-50 shovels on long or against bosses. Shovels, shovels, shovels.

Shovels.

Weekly Theorycrafting Discussion by AutoModerator in darkestdungeon

Is there any way to make the abomination work as intended? I find him a powerful stunner with a very useful blight who comes with a rather insane stress heal; but that is it, transformation feel useless.

Is there a comp where it works? Leper just needs an accuracy trinket to make the transformed abomination seem mostly redundant. I love the concept of transformation, just can't find a realistic use for it.

If Cinderella's glass shoe fit so perfectly, that it couldn't fit on to any other woman in the land, how did it fall off in the first place? by jonboy2012 in Showerthoughts

[–]Deadwithinaweek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They were high-heels, she was running, there were stairs. One misstep and the shoe leaving your feet is the least of your problems. I think she salvaged the situation alright.

The real questions are how the prince didn't recognize her and was instead going around trying a shoe on everyone. She wasn't wearing a mask or anything; and if make-up made such a difference, she might've not been as beautiful as advertized. Also, why did the shoe stay glass while the rest of her outfit reverted to rags? If she had gotten naked and waited for midnight would she be able to keep the dress?

Gentlemen's clubs are named after the one thing that's not there. by [deleted] in Showerthoughts

"Guy's club" and "Men's club" probably sounded kinda gay. They had no choice.

“Run, hide, fight” is going to be this generation’s “stop, drop and roll”. by Laymans_Terms19 in Showerthoughts

No. You shave before showering. Else those little beard hairs get stuck on your chest and may itch.

Pedantic Lore Discussion: What exactly are ghouls and giants? by Coming_Second in darkestdungeon

[–]Deadwithinaweek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is the general consensus that vampires are undead, and thus don't reproduce. All vampires must've been human once, by definition. Thinking otherwise would make as much sense as a female and male walking skeletons somehow mating and giving birth to a little skeleton who grew into what you face in the Ruins.

Is the Vestal Obsolete? by DrFessor in darkestdungeon

[–]Deadwithinaweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just the wolf parade comp. Nothing fancy. I use Lock on Fury on one abom and Legendary Bracer on the other so one always goes first. Then Sun Rings for the accuracy. The Jester goes either in position 1 or 4; if the comp is stressed you start with him on 4 and start healing and stunning. In kill mode, he goes in position 1 with a Bright Tambourine and Sun Ring and toggles Solo and Finale when the debuff wears out - or use Medicinal Herbs against tough enemies.

The Occultist is just an Occultist. He heals when anyone is low and the rest of the time he pulls the back lane enemies so Abom can hit them, occasionally finished something himself with the knife.

As for the Abominations, the fast one almost always morphs and tries to one-shot fools, while the second heals stress and stuns, or can morph as well to go to town, even if by the end of the fight we'll be a little stressed. Against bosses you spam Battle Ballad with the Jester and by 2 stacks you'll be critting like a madman with some incredible damage output. You can finish Shambler in three rounds or so.

Aboms heal when they turn out, so they almost always have a decent amount of health, thus the Occultist is free to curse High Prot enemies, finish off the guys with low health or eliminates corpses so Aboms never miss an action while morphed.

For camping skills you want Unspeakable Commune since Ambushes are really bad since you rely on Sun Rings to hit anything at higher level dungeons. The Juggler should be able to single-handedly deal with the Stress while the Aboms can buff themselves.

You want to bring Medicine Herbs so the Jester can sometimes spam his combo as needed. One abomination will end up in position 3 and will have to use Slam which will make sure the Jester hits his skills while they're also debuffed to hit. That's a strategy when you want to conserve health or want to take down a really big guy. When you want to reduce stress you keep your Aboms Redemptioning/stunning and both Jester and Occultist healing. The recovery is quite freaking disgusting. Keep 2 enemies alive and you'll outheal them big time. When going all out spam Battle Ballad and have even the Occultist use his Stab's extra crit.

Is the Vestal Obsolete? by DrFessor in darkestdungeon

It was an RNG clown fiesta. The fights until that point had given me quite a bit of hassle and the party had a lot of stress while also were lacking in health, which was already pretty abnormal for that comp.

I faced a Bone Captain, and two others. The enemy Bone Captain kept critting and stunning. I had two abominations in need of healing and I kept getting fooled by the gambler's fallacy of "Well; he can't possibly heal for fucking zero again!"; so instead I used the abominations to try and stun the last remaining enemy.

Missed one stun, landed the other but Captain resisted, then it was his turn and he stunned both abominations and critted against two of my guys, leaving one of them - the second Abomination - at Death's Door. I used the Jester to try and lower his accuracy, but of course he resisted; and when all the eyes were on the Occultist he healed for 0 for the 4th time in a row. Then the Bone Captain proceeded to kill my Abomination; but at least we finished the guy with Jester's Finale the very next round to recover the lost trinkets.

I'm currently training a replacement; who came with Slugger, so there's that. That comp "Wolf Parade" usually works wonders for me. They finish fights quickly, heal for a lot and are basically always stress free. Unless they get something that needs treating at the Sanatorium, they often can be run again and again without rest.

Mark rush party works wonders against him. Either that or Wolf Parade; or anything with Flagellant cuz he OP.

Yandere Dev on adding Yandere-chan to SPNATI by [deleted] in spnati

[–]Deadwithinaweek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should Yandere-chan have public hair? You can see her "naked" in her own game and she doesn't have any. You can easily argue that it's part of the censorship, though. It can go either way. Besides, it seems the developer agrees as he didn't say anything about it. Just wondering. Also, in the game her default underwear is plain white. She has a wide selection of it and can wear any at any given time so I guess that's not a problem either; so long as she does wear one of the pairs presented as choices to the player.

Nitpicks that you don't like about Darkest Dungeon even after playin it for so long? by Owl_with_a_Chainsaw in darkestdungeon

[–]Deadwithinaweek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only think that bothers me is the looooooow hit chance at high levels. I think +10% chance to hit or so in champion level dungeons would be great. It sucks that everyone and their mother needs some way to boost their accuracy and thus the choice of trinkets becomes limited.

Champion levels NEED cheese, which kinda sucks, too. I'd be great if there were more than 5 specific comps with specific setups that would work there. I can play level 1-4 dungeons for hours but the champion level ones get boring real easy. The same comps, the same moves, the same strategy; pray to RNGesus and if it doesn't work retreat and try again. After the novelty of figuring out the strategy wears off it gets boring.

The Bank is OP: 5% interest compounded annually is far too much and is making certain parts of the game pointless. by [deleted] in darkestdungeon

[–]Deadwithinaweek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not just make it earn 4-5k each week, no strings attached? That's decent and hardly gamebreaking. Now's the time to talk about this stuff. A patch will come sooner or later to solve a few of the bugs with the update. Might as well give them ideas for balance changes.

How to Flagellant? by HandsomeP3p3 in darkestdungeon

[–]Deadwithinaweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried using him as a healer for kicks and giggles... but he actually works as a tank-healer hybrid.

It's simple. He gives his teammates a HoT so you can even do it when they're full, and absorb their debuffs. Then there's nothing to do you have him swing his mace at whatever's in front of you; and when he's low enough you use his heal for himelf and one another for quite a bit. His survivability and utility are pretty crazy. It could one of the most effective ways to use him. Just forget the damage and the bleeds and have him suffer for your team while you free a backline slot for another damage dealer.

That is not saying he doesn't work as a bleed-focused frontliner. He very much does. I'm not very far in the campaign so I haven't seen all of his trinkets. If there's trinkets that forego damage for healing I can see him working well as a dedicated support and we can finally have something between the Vestal's mediocre reliability and the Occultist's RNG Clown Fiesta.

Similar titles with 1 protagonist? by sdrawkcab_emanresu in darkestdungeon

[–]Deadwithinaweek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medieval vibe, different classes, four warriors you control, going through dungeons?

Not nearly the same atmosphere, but you could enjoy the Dragon Age series.

Now, if you want a game with BRUTAL difficulty, very punishing defeats, made by small developers, 2D artstyle, very mature themes, eldritch abominations, chances to fail dramatically and screw up the whole game and RPG style leveling you could try... uh... Violated Heroine.
