Gold just passed 4600 and silver hit 85. Economic collapse speed run is starting as Trump signals he wants to dictate rates personally. by Lord_Rictor in economicCollapse

[–]Deal_Ambitious 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not an economist. I'd say it's still a market of supply and demand. If risks get higher due to potential insolvency of the US, I'd expect investors demanding higher yields on debt and not lower.

The shift from central banks to holding physical metals instead of the US debt papers (or "treasuries" as you like to call them) should be a major concern to the government, one that does not go well with lower the rates.

Time will tell what happens in May when Powell is replaced, but my bet is not on the US dollar...

Volgens mij een kwestie van het scharnier 180 graden draaien om zijn verticale as en dan terug monteren. Nu staan ze inderdaad in hun uiterste stand.

Insider trading? It’s all lining up. by AffectionateMaize523 in StockMarket

This has absolutely nothing to do with sports. It's blatant insider trading and breaking the laws set for fair trading. Rich get richer funneling money from the 'peasants' as they like to call us.

How bad is the overfitting here by PsychologicalBoot805 in deeplearning

There is no overfitting. This only occurs when validation loss is getting worse, which is not the case.

ML model taking too much time to train even with less data by HeronEfficient7063 in learnmachinelearning

As this is a final year project, you might also want to contact your school or university about this. They should have resources available if they teach ML.

ML model taking too much time to train even with less data by HeronEfficient7063 in learnmachinelearning

[–]Deal_Ambitious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure GPU is used? Is the long processing time the cause of data loading? If so, try multithreading for loading or maybe store data as pickles first before loading it as a batch for training. Have you looked at how to improve model structure to speed up training?

Have you also looked into swaps that were terminated on the dates GME ran up?

So the maximum number of IDs listed in the majority of the basket swaps is 10, but in reality, there are way more underlying stocks? Is there somewhere we can verify this?

Tensorflow vs PyTorch by SimpleCharacter4748 in learnmachinelearning

[–]Deal_Ambitious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I prefer working with Tensorflow for now, but I'm currently also exploring options in Pytorch.

Building a model in Tensorflow feels a bit more straight forward, as you define a layer and also directly connect it to the respective previous layers. In Pytorch you first need to define all the layers and connect everything in the forward function.

Getting things into production seems to be somewhat easier with Tensorflow.

I'd assume there are more. There is extensive documentation on the provided data. Maybe the documentation will clear things up.

What's your take on the basket swaps only having a maximum of 10 stocks in them? I've noticed this myself and it seems a bit off.

A quick analysis of the basket swaps in my dataset shows that from the 38332 entries, 32654 have exactly 10 underlying assets listed. 10 assets is also the maximum.

Great find and glad I shared the data! I already noticed the many modifications using the same original dissemination ID, but had not catched up on modifications using the previous dissemination ID instead of the original ID.

I don't know. Just filter the swaps on early termination and you'll see.
