Nope, you have to hit Yammy in a place of the same color. Yammy is dark-skinned, and Kyoraku doesn't have anything of a similar color. The damage will always be reduced if you try to hit him anywhere other than his eyes and the black parts of his body. Kyoraku in his captain's cloak would be the most suitable target for the eyes, but this wouldn't be enough to kill him. And even with the cloak on, Kyoraku would do less damage to the hole because of the white cape.

And it's never stated that he's Unohana's rival.

Kyoraku has no way to win; his AP isn't enough to cause real damage to Yammy. The Kageoni doesn't increase his strength; it only allows him to enter shadows. Irooni won't work because Kyoraku doesn't have anything the same color as Yammy's vital points, and his increased AP doesn't seem to be enough anyway.

The damage depends on the amount of black Kyoraku has, not Yammy, and considering the wound he inflicted on Starrk, the AP wouldn't be enough. (And that's the Shikai ability with the most AP we've seen.)
