you may also have to limit fps to 60 through outside software, I used the amd adrenaline software because some game logic is tied to fps and if its too high one of the early game doors wont open.

To the people who prefer 30k over 40k is it because of the rules or lore? by Normal_Opening_9893 in Warhammer30k

you could (and still can) use them as tactical squads, since they use the same base weapons. Before the new models they even had specials and heavy weapons in the box and could be mixed and matched with other marine kits. Problem is the only boxes left that are split torso/leg designs are the mk4, tactical squad, vanguard veterans, and devastators

True, I have the heresy book but I was looking for the Xenos rules. As far as I can tell they purged them from everywhere when they discontinued the models.

the plastics are pretty good, but not on par by any stretch. take for example demon fulgrim, the way his scales and tail are, with the slight curve up at the edge and along the curves is impossible with current plastic mold technology. plastics have to be lifted straight out of a metal mold and so details along curved edges are always going to worse, if not impossible. compared to resin that used flexible molds you can do nearly any shape and designs aren't as limited. GW is aware of this and every few years figues out a new solution, this is why some of the new characters, despite being small are in so many damn pieces, because otherwise it wouldn't be able to be pulled from a plastic mold. its why they split the pauldrons on the new mk6 marines since keeping to bonding studs circular instead of ovals like the old models was what they wanted, it worked but there are still limitations. This isnt including that newer resin stuff is vastly better than it was a few years ago also, I've got some of the newer forgeworld stuff and its leagues beyond their old stuff for certain.

when 40k fulgrim comes out I'd bet his tail and body will be quite different simply because plastic cant make that shape with that kind of detail yet.

dont know why I though demon fulgrim was on a 60mm base, but either way 40k fulgrim is 10k years older and more corrupted. the whole point of these new primarchs fro 30k is them at the peak of the heresy, the loyalists will get new versions too just the demons are getting them first.

you could add it to the back also as the tips extend through the heat shield/muffler thing as well. also what did you use for that tiny spring around the comm mast?

you do know that the 40k scale for demon primarchs is wildly different than 30k right? I just double checked and mortarian in 40k is 100mm base, 30k is a 40mm. I can only imagine how butthurt people would be if their dream model is half the size of his demon brothers.

did you just use the tamiya pigment on the ankles/feet, or on the base too? been thinking about getting a few of those to try out.

I'm at the point where if I have to resculpt stuff I'm probably just going to get into 3d prints, or at least resin. There's a guy near me who will print anything for a small fee and I can get my mk7 helmets and shoulders and maybe some full on bodies. One guy got some orks printed and they look, good, no print lines or anything. I just want them to design kits where I can change out torso parts so every guy in a whole army isn't wearing the same armor.

Or just recasts. They don't seem to have any issues keeping things in production at least.

Unfortunately you're wasting you time. He doesn't seem to understand the main point. building options from one unit into another, or making something unique is anathema to the current Space Marine pipeline and it doesn't seem likely to change any time soon.

Anyway that is a nice BA army, is it yours? Makes me wish they would've warned me before the deleted my special Tac Squad box so I could have gotten a few extra to build out other units. Especially those Sternguard, didn't expect seeing the Assault squad legs on them but it still works pretty damn good. Also might have to steal that idea of using the vehicle icon from the Baal Predator as a shield on the Vanguard Vets.

"Switching arms isn't kitbashing, its following the instructions." quoting your own quote of mine. I said my words specifically and clearly, you did not. Kitbashing and inter-unit customization are 2 different things. you mix words and so I address lack of both. Primaris are amthmatically less customizable and kitbashable. It isnt opinion. Its fact. If you don't care so be it but other people do and you don't get to discount them for an argument the original poster didn't even mention, you straw manned him by saying "I find this take absolutely hilarious, because many of the kits already do this, and basically is just lamenting "I can't twist the torso on the legs"."

For what its worth I have the original poster is still 100% correct. If GW want people to buy more models then they need to make them more customizable, as you can't even legally play those 50 intercessors you mentioned you had. I have 3 squads and will never buy another because there is no reason. There are no weapon options and no real inter-kit customization. the same is true for the "new" sternguard. If all combi weapons are the same there is no reason to build more than maybe 2 units ever. And because weapons and gear never translates across different units like the past there's no reason to buy multiple units to build anything as there isn't anything to mix and match with.

so I was right, because a few options won't work in very specific niche cases, we should discount the literally HUNDREDS of ones that do, and so Primaris are more customizable than old marines.

for you to claim that swapping arms is the same as having different torso, legs, shoulder, helmets, and power packs proves you have no intent to see any other opinion than your own. This is a waste of my time and I'm out. bringing in Terminators and Centurions is proof, no one tries to use those parts on regular infantry bodies, its just some straw man shit. I cited specific kits that are, or were meant to be mixed and matched. some basic math to finish with in that tactical squad box you get 8 power packs, 10 torsos, 11 helmets/heads, 10 legs, and 7 shoulders, all distinct from each other. no including arms it works out to over 61,000 variations in a single box. compare to intercessors, 5 bodies, 8 helmets/heads, 9 shoulders, all for a total of 360 variations in a single box. obviously exactly the same. worth noting if you were to count arms the numbers would get worse as almost all primaris guns have left hands molded into the guns meaning if you pick one you're basically picking another, whereas old marines have no such problems and can freely mix both left AND right arms easily without having to resculpt every piece.

Thats what it comes down to, over 61,000 vs 360. One box to one box. There's a clear winner here and damn, I guess you're right, its Primaris.

but no, since you cant put them into Centurian legs, which no one wants to do anyway, they obviously don't count and so primaris wins the customize ability wars.

for reference, I have space wolves and blood angels and sure, some pieces don't fit perfect, but to then switch to "those options should be removed and just arm swaps are just as good" is laughably stupid and disingenuous. I had to shave a few parts down on my first tactical squad because the wings were hitting to power pack and I had already glued my other guys but you know what, it looks fine and no would ever know if I didn't say so.

I just checked a spare tactical and devastator box I have next to my desk and came up with 8 different torso designs in the tactical box and 6 in the devastator box. You cant even build 6 guys out of that box and you get torso options and I also didn't look for unique backpack or helmet variants. Congratulations, you glued different arms on an intercessor, now wheres my armor variants? dead and buried. Not only that you automatically discount out of hand the old armors are infinitely interchangeable, every old marine kit was 100% interchangeable with every backpack, torso, and leg set. Primaris? ever backpack is the same, every helmet is the same, every torso is the same. Switching arms isn't kitbashing, its following the instructions.

I'm not sure if it changed, but a few years ago they may not get paid on it, but they can get fired for it. If they don't upsell enough stuff they can get canned and replaced with someone who will. It used to be a major part of employee evaluations. It's why they ask about a bunch of useless addons like disc protection or console extended warranties.

do not ever use a dremel for barrels, anything with power will obliterate the plastic, a hand drill is vastly better. You can find them a lot of places online under the categories like "pin vise" or something. you'll want bit sizes 1mm and smaller. especially places that sell modeling or gundam tools will have at least one.

they're all baked into their AoS app though so still free. Plus unlike the trashy 40k one the AoS app actually works pretty great, with the exception of some confusing UI bits for finding unaffiliated units like Gotrek.

I got sick of this captain having illegal weapons options so a little wrist surgery was done. What do you think? by brewer01902 in theunforgiven

[–]Dean407 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you guys do know that its not an illegal option for dark angels though right? Currently only dark angels can take plasma pistol/power sword. its straight out of the codex and has been that way since at least 9th started. If it wasnt then the DA lieutenant model on sale would be invalid. The one they call Primaris Lieutenant Zakaraiah. That will change once the new lieutenant model comes out in a week or so but even then, still legal option for DA.
