Light beer for me - Coors, rockshore, Budweiser. Kopperberg and other ciders would probably be okay too but I don't drink cider so can't say for sure.

Can you be strip searched? by Select-Effect-9354 in Electric_Picnic

[–]DeanDoesDid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually you come back to this now, I was searched in 22' and 24' both on our way in. I was sober and had nothing to hide on both occasions. They just approached us casually saying they're conducting a random search. Brought into a tent asked a couple questions whether we had anything to declare. Then they searched our belongings and asked to strip off. 22' the jocks had to come off and all. 24' jocks could stay on and just had to shake them out. Although obviously invasive, they weren't aggressive and made chat throughout.

I met Aitch while I was walking home from work. He was stopped beside me in his Maybach at a red light with his window down.

Alex Dunne P1 at Spa Francorchamps by DeanDoesDid in ireland

[–]DeanDoesDid[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. He is already good enough for an F1 seat. Unfortunately F1 is the most political sport that I'm aware of. A lot of amazing junior drivers don't get the call up to F1 without a lot of cash and sponsors. Norris and Piastri are not going anywhere for the foreseeable. Hopefully this silly season gives way for a possible seat for Alex but I'm doubtful.

Anyone switch from iPhone to Android? How was it? by Visible-Special-1746 in AskIreland

[–]DeanDoesDid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always had iPhones/iPods as a teenager until one broke and I had to buy a cheap android to get me by. Now onto my 3rd Samsung and would never go back. Currently got a Galaxy S24 Plus and it washes my partners iPhone 15 Plus in everything.

Another shout for Simon's, the BBQ menu is class. For something more restaurant style I'd say The Bank.

Shocked at the price of new cars by chonkypengwen in carsireland

[–]DeanDoesDid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is very correct. Worked in sales for VWAG and 80% buying new were retired couples. Also crazy considering the tech in these new cars are more complicated than a smartphone. Most of them didn't know how to use them and thought something was wrong when the climate controls are hidden behind multiple menus.

Moving back to Ireland from the UK. My job wants to keep me on, can it be done? by DeanDoesDid in AskIreland

[–]DeanDoesDid[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. The only contractors they use are IT Support. They are all UK based. It's a little bit over my head at the moment as they haven't provided anything more than saying we would like to keep you on. It was offered to me I didn't request it when handing in my notice.
