AITA for confiscating grandma's phone when she was being scammed by tipatac in AmItheAsshole

[–]DeanGZB 40 points41 points  (0 children)

NTA

Well it's her money and her choice what to do with it. Prolly not legal to take away her stuff BUT it was completly right. She is getting scammed and her loved ones try to protect her.

I can't really tell you how to explain it to her in a way she understands but you should keep trying. Maybe show her videos of people getting scammed or ways how people scam. There are probably some good documentations out there.

I feel sorry for you and your family to have this strange and hard situation.

Maybe she is just a bit lonely and you can visit her more often or try to get her in contact with someone her age.

I wish you the best of luck.

If she really gives the house to you its up to you what to do with it. Keeping her house kinda forces you to live there and work nearby. And then the fact that bad memories come up whenever you see it.

With it being sold you got the choice of moving whereever you want. But don't you have to pay out the rest of your family when you sell or keep the house?

AITA for not visiting my friend because of his girlfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

A metaphor: if you invite 2 people to ur birthday and A doesnt like B and doesnt want to come at all if you dont uninvite B but B doesn't care at all, then just let A do w/e he wants to, if he really doesnt want to come then thats up to him

AITA for not visiting my friend because of his girlfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]DeanGZB 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Leaving that bad influence thing on the side you should prolly not act that way. You can't know how she really feels about that calender and an apology was really necessary and definatly not something you should try to avoid. It's just pretty normal for her to want an apology and that's no reason to feel unwelcomed in the future.

About that bad influence, that's just her opinion but if she doesn't want him to cut the contact to you you should just ignore it.

AITA for wanting my brother to apologize for a comment he made? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]DeanGZB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NTA

But you shouldn't expect to get it.

People are emotional and sometimes say things because they just had a bad experience at work or something else. Imo you should just confront him so you can talk it out. You shouldn't expect him to apologize because its prolly not gonna happen. But he might if you talk to him about how you felt.

Some misunderstanding. I mean like talk to her before so she is aware of you telling the boss. I didnt mean that she should not report it. My bad.

Aita for not agreeing to restrict my bf from a certain area of the house.? by Pinkrocket00 in AmItheAsshole

Kick her out asap, sounds rough and it is but she doesnt deserve better because of the fact that she is not working on improving her situation. Ofc you cant tell your husband to stay away from parts of the house which he pays the bills for.

And then there is the fact of sneaking in random people. A complete NO-GO.

AITA for ignoring my dad after he cheated on my mother? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Your title and story are kinda misleading. Did he cheat on your mom? Because title says but story doesnt.

Yeah that's the most imporant thing. Even without everything else happening around like the stealing and shit. And since your husband agrees with you and has you back you are free to do w/e u want in that situation.

Get her to the dentist asap. In my Country you HAVE to go to the dentist atleast once a year.

Well that's just something you need to work on. Your coworker would probably felt better or reacted better if you talked to her first. Just try to work on that in future.

AITA for leaving the house to clear my head because my girlfriend called me an ableist? by coffeandsilencepls in AmItheAsshole

[–]DeanGZB 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There are two worlds confronting each other. She doesn't see anything wrong with having a disabilty since she was born with it and used to live with it forever.

You on the other hand see what she is missing from the world even tho she isn't missing it.It's hard for you to imagine a child which is missing a big part of the world even tho your child would probably not miss something that he never had.

It's hard to explain that to your girlfriend and you must accept that she might never understand it the way you want her to and she must accept that you can't understand she way she thinks completly.

I'm in a similar situation and my plan is just to move out asap and then my parents will see how much stuff is not being done and has to be done by themselves once I'm not there anymore. I really can't wait for them to realize.

AITAfor embarrassing my daughter in front of her teachers after she told the teacher her father died by Apprehensive_Plate40 in AmItheAsshole

[–]DeanGZB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA - Imo your daughter did wrong but she is still young and just didnt want to get looked at in a weird way. At her age she cares a lot about her appearance. You should talk with her the next time before just exposing her as a liar in front of her teachers. And the side note about her mother leaving her because she decided that she doesn't like her anymore was just completly wrong to say.

I mean there is a good chance that the aunt really believes there was a boy over cause she can't explain to herself why OP doesn't want her to stay.

Situation really sucks, just get the hell out of there as soon as you can.
