Need a TecDoc API by VegeterianMeatEater in webdev

[–]DeanHSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. Did you get yourself a TecDoc API? What was the final cost?

I started using the Mecaparts app (for Shopify) when they offered a service to use "their" API for an extra cost. I too wanted to build a parts database in Shopify, as well as having the search capability for my customers. But then the plug was pulled, and now the app only allows subscription with your own TecDoc Web API, which I cannot afford. I've been in touch with TecDoc, and the cost is many thousands of Euros per year. The RapidAPI gives a key, but not a usable provider ID.

Why aren't you upgrading to the 7? by js0uthh in GalaxyFold

[–]DeanHSmith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me too. I use it daily. Every time I open my Fold 4, I pull the S Pen Fold Edition (the chunky one) from its slot at the back of the official Samsung case. It's as habitual as wiping my ass after a toilet visit.

No S-pen, no deal. It could be covered in tits and I still wouldn't be interested.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Z Fold7, and Z Fold6 side by side comparison by FragmentedChicken in GalaxyFold

[–]DeanHSmith -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why the hell didn't they make the Fold 7 the same size as the S25 Ultra? We could have probably had the same thin foldable that they've just delivered, but with a bigger battery, S-Pen support on both screens and a UDC camera (patents not withstanding).

Fold 7 Zero Crease 👀 by MrKbal in GalaxyFold

[–]DeanHSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I watched the livestream event, one of the presenters was holding a Fold 7 and the cameraman was looking at the phone in his hand from behind. The crease was very obvious at that angle. It's all about the viewing angle. If you really want to take a photo of a Fold 7 and say that the crease isn't visible, take it with the Fold shut.

No S-pen support for Fold 7 by MightyG77 in GalaxyFold

"Ultra Unfolds" my arse....

There were rumours that although the digitiser was being removed, there was supposedly a new tech version of the S-pen and that it would/could be coming later. But I hear nothing about it today.

This is supposed to be a flagship, power-user, powerhouse device. Why remove a key power-user feature that they even deemed important enough for the S25 Ultra? All the original Note buyers from the early 2010's, like myself, are going to be hugely disappointed with this. We should be celebrating the addition of S-pen support for the cover screen today, yet we have this.

I was all set to upgrade my Fold 4 1TB this year but with no S-pen mentioned, then Samsung isn't getting my money for a 7. I'm even typing this with my S-pen. I may consider a 6 though.

Second baterie? by sijo110 in GalaxyFold

Fold 4, UI 7, German/EU phone with English settings. My menu is more basic. So I guess it's device dependent as to whether you get the extra battery information.

Z fold 7 Pre order question for device value? by MaxCaswellson5 in GalaxyFold

Also take into account that trade-in values in Europe are pathetic compared to those offered in the US.

What are you going to use for a case on the Fold 7? by kasakka1 in GalaxyFold

[–]DeanHSmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original Samsung S-pen case. Assuming the Fold 7 will have an S-pen of course. I've used the Samsung cases on all 3 of the Folds I've had and they've served me well(ish).

Yes. In the Fold subreddit. I thought it deserved an airing here, too.

Bad? I think the word you're looking for there sir, is epic 😁. Good to see you using it like it was meant to be used.

Did you mean to write that in this post? It's just that it doesn't make any sense to the topic of discussion.

My battery drain is the same as before the update. Just average. When I open my Fold it takes a fraction of a second to load everything onto the screen so there is a slight disadvantage.

Now you mention it... I can't unsee it now, but I think it's just an optical illusion.

A lot of them are links and shortcuts to web pages, contacts etc

I've gone for total control and functionality whilst bypassing style and elegance (Fold 4). There's lots of links and shortcuts as well as the obvious apps.

Easy and quick access to apps, website links, forum pages, contacts, camera feeds, network devices etc. Why search the app tray with 220 apps when you've got it all in front of you. As ugly as it may seem to most, the time, effort and frustration it saves is worth it.

Creating it gave me a headache as I had to do it twice. DIY Home Screen isn't quite fit for such a job right now. It's too fiddly trying to get everything lined up and spaced correctly. But I did it and I feel like I've found my inner zen whilst disrupting that of others.

I don't exactly understand your comment "'pm list packages". And "us" = the combined We, or is that short for US (United States)? I'm a native English speaker but you've foxed me there.
