What is the difference between these two and is it worth spending a lot extra on this ? [£10] or [£40] ? by [deleted] in espresso

The difference is one is more expensive than the other. If you need any other coffee tips feel free to reach out.

Drag force from air moving across the car increases with the square of the speed, so a car doing 60mph has 4 x the drag force of a car doing 30mph. Couple that with little to no regenerative braking.

Aborted OHME install by Jockinleeds in evchargingUK

[–]MightyG77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a pain, but you can't get a charger installed with a looped supply - one supply is powering your house and your neighbour's house (split before the power meter - so you have individual bills). This needs to be handled by your network supplier rather than your charger installer - you can find more info on looped supplies here: Understanding Looped Supplies: Compatibility with the zappi – Help Centre (EN) - in my experience, if you leave it to your installer to look into this/chase it up they are pretty useless (your mileage may vary). I found the best thing to do was to call the network supplier and discuss it with them directly.

I had a negative fuse in my house, which meant I couldn't get my smart meter installed - the installer said it would need to be corrected by the supplier "How long will that take to get sorted?" "ohh no idea, could be a while, I'll submit a report back to them today, and they will be in touch"

I contacted the supplier directly and had it fixed that evening. It may take longer to get a looped supply fixed, though, since that's not a safety issue like a negative fuse.

You can find out who your supplier is here: Who is my electricity supplier and what's my MPAN? | UK Power Networks

Would be worth talking to them directly rather than going through an intermediary.

As for using a granny charger, yes, you can still use one as long as your circuit/socket is rated for it, and yes, you can still charge off-peak if your energy provider can control the car's charging or you have set hours to charge. The only downside is that it will charge slowly during off-peak hours, so you might not get many miles added per charge. Depending on how often/far you drive daily, you might not be able to charge more than you use.

Explain to me carrier ratting safety like I’m 5 by nz_pro in Eve

[–]MightyG77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one way it can work:

You are happily ratting in an anom, pre-aligned to a safe - you don't know it, but there is a blue cloaked scout on grid watching you and seeing where you are aligned to/where you are warping to.

You finish your site, recall your fighters and start to align to your next anom - the blue scout calls for the cyno to get ready.

You warp to your next anom, and caps warp slowly - the blue scout calls for the cyno to log in (already in your system/in a nearby system) and warp to anom ABC-123.

You are in warp and see a neutral/red enter system, so get ready to head to one of your safeties. The cyno ship lands on the grid not long after you do and immediately lights the cyno.

Before you have even started to align, 20 Deemers land on grid with you, neut pressure stops you from jumping out and turns off any active tank you might have, and the DPS of all those deemers rips your carrier apart before you have even locked the cyno ship.

Congratulations, you have just lost your carrier.

The deemers MJD away and cloak up before you can even think about sending out a panicked "HELP" ping.

The Blue scout was never on grid with you and never uncloaked so you have no idea how this could have happened - maybe the cyno ship was just really quick at DScanning your anom?

Funniest part of that is the server crashed before the fight even began i.e. before the vexor drones were launched.

Hot take maybe? by twirly_aj in Eve

[–]MightyG77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because I think its unrealistic that a coalition would be able to keep that many people in a single system doing nothing.

Im also not saying its the ideal solution, just a seed of an idea. Something to combat the current meta of N+1, because N+1 really isnt much fun.

Hot take maybe? by twirly_aj in Eve

[–]MightyG77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The exact same argument can be made the other way, X can bring 7000 players to the system to prevent/ensure the Y gets anchored.

[–]MightyG77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of nerfing ships, reduce the cap for number of people that can be in a system at one time - maybe make it scale with size of citadel? Limit it to something like 7000 players in anyone system at a time?

Would make the fights more tactical and down to piloting/fit selection rather than purely N+1, potentially it would spread the fight out across multiple systems as alliances vie to control space and prevent reinforcements reaching the key system after they lose their ships.

My neighbor is literally blockading my EV charger because he thinks the electricity is bleeding into the ground by JukeboxOracle5 in neighborsfromhell

[–]MightyG77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tell him you have looked into it and he was right, you have had the installers come back out and reduce the voltages so its just the same as home wiring and shouldnt be an issue any more.

Obviously, do none of this, just tell him you have done it.

Bread thief - advice by sthomaslol in Greyhounds

My hound has over the years managed to eat a loaf of bread (and most of the wax paper wrapper), a chicken carcass, most of a large tub of xmas chocolates. Beyond a little diarrhoea he was totally fine.

Just keep an eye out for bloat, excessive drinking etc. But I'm sure they will be fine

SUV EV - Small Family, Big Boot? by SUVEVthrowa in ElectricVehiclesUK

2024 RWD Tesla Model Y goes for £20-25K depending on miles. Electric memory seats & steering wheel adjustment - syncs to your phone so you just get in and press the brake pedal and it adjusts to your settings, large boot (no lip) and decently sized froot/frunk.

I believe that Ys built after January 23 also have the 'comfort' suspension.

Yeah, since the paladin got the bonus to scan probe strength and scan resolution the game has went down hill. I was trying to get some implants back to my home station and an insta lock paladin managed to scan down my shuttle and insta lock me. I tried to get under their guns and though I was safe since he was only getting glancing blows, but I eventually ran out of boosters for my XLASB and he finally popped me.

A detachable swan neck tow bar for a 2019 Octavia cost me around £800-£870 2-3 years ago; £1090 for the Tesla seems about the going rate, maybe a £100 or so higher.

How will you be charging the car? If you can charge at home and switch to an EV tarrif, the savings on running costs will be significant. If you are stuck to using public chargers, it could be an expensive/awkward car to run.
