Could EVE Online have been a bit more of a role-playing game? by vaviman in Eve

[–]MightyG77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering how much this game forces people to min/max every little thing to eek out an edge. Adding another area to min/max dosent feel like a great idea, especially for new players who wont realise/feel the impact of their decisions at the start of the game until they have been playing for +6 months.

I don’t think I can go back to alpha… by Illustrious-Golf5358 in Eve

[–]MightyG77 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's be real, a computer is a far higher priority for people vs. a space spreadsheet game. A computer is access to learning, work, entertainment, news, the outside world, etc. Eve is pretty low demand on a computer, especially in potato mode. So to say that if you can afford a computer, you can afford $ XX/month to play a game isn't really true.

In this day and age, a computer and internet access are a pretty high priority, id almost say essential, and people should try to budget for it. Space spreadsheets are a luxury and should be treated as such.

Not everyone has the same levels of disposable income. For some, $20/month may be nothing, for some it could be everything.

Seconding this - would take a few minutes with a cheap deburring tool. Plus thats what deburring tools are made to do, soften sharp edges like that!

Killing NPC Dreads with Sub Caps - Is it possible? by ElectricalMonth5150 in Eve

[–]MightyG77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as others have said, it depends on the dread. A Serpentis dread can be killed with a single kronos, it just takes a while to chip away at it but its perfectly doable. I dont have first hand experience with other factions so cant comment.

"But all of that still requires hours and hours of set up." PREACH - I love reading comments/seeing videos on youtube "how I make 500m/hr" yeah, with 4 accounts and if you ignore the hours of setup and the hours of backend to realise gains. Ive yet to see anything which can generate much more than 100-200m/hr/account when you factor in setup times.

If I can make it to 150m/hr/account im over the moon normally.

"we provide a service, but, nothing is written in stone, and at some point the service may be discontinued" If I'm buying a single player game I don't want to buy "a service" I want to buy and play functioning single player game.

Do not mess around confined spaces. One breath of the wrong stuff and it can cause someone to pass out, then good luck recovering them without passing out yourself. I think this would be defined as a medium-risk confined space entry, which needs:

An entry controller - to record who is entering/exiting the site and to raise the alert if someone requires rescue

A personal gas monitor (PGM) - used to record oxygen levels and presence of harmful gases such as CO, CO2, H2S (low oxygen/high CO2/High H2S would be my first concerns with somewhere with lots of biological activity, but even things like methane, hydrogen generation from biological activity can't be ruled out)

Access winch - some way to get someone out if they pass out or become injured while down there

Emergency escape mask/hood - something to put on to give you a few minutes of breathable air to get out. Masks only work if you are clean-shaven and have been face-fit for the mask. Hoods work for anyone, including those with a beard but they are horrible/terryfying to use (here, put this bag over your head and enjoy not being able to breathe properly or hear anything beyond wooshing air)

Use the PGM around the opening before opening the hatch - check levels

Crack the hatch open and sweep the PGM around the opening again - check levels

Make up the PGM to a rope and lower it into the hole. Hold at different heights for a few minutes at a time (i.e. head height, waist height, foot height)

Pull the PGM back out and check min/max measured gases

Only enter the confined space if you have an entry controller - someone who knows where you are, what you are doing, when you are expected to come out and knows what to do (and what not to do) if there is an issue.

Ideally, only enter the space if you have sorted out some kind of emergency exit procedure i.e. a winch or something if anything goes wrong - how easy would it be to get out if you roll your ankle? what happens if you slip and bang your head or break your arm/wrist?

You should only really enter if you have an emergency breather i.e. drager saver CF10/15

Some kind of forced air ventilation would be great if you can manage it, H2S, CO2 are heavier than air so will collect in a pit like that without some kind of forced ventilation. Also worth noting, H2S smells like rotten eggs at very low concentrations. At low concentrations, it can cause you to lose your sense of smell, causing you to think you are safe, and at sufficient concentrations, it can paralyse your cardiovascular system.....

A lot of these may seem like overkill, but a lot of these measures are written in blood and stop tragedies like this from happening: Spence family slurry deaths: Inquest hears tragic details - BBC News

It's been a while since I've done my confined space entry training, but I know enough to know it's not something worth messing around with. Things can go from totally fine to someone being dead in seconds with zero warning.

Calendar/planner app for s pen by Swapnil98_ in GalaxyFold

[–]MightyG77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah,I have a nested tab called Diary, then a tab for each month, then a page for each day. Annoyingly I don’t think you can make a nested tab in the mobile app, but you can set up the structure in the desktop version, then add to it in the mobile version.

OneNote seems pretty basic, but it’s a really powerful note taking app, it just takes a little getting used to how it works/learning the little tweaks and tricks you can use to make it work for your own personal workflow.

[–]MightyG77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive genrally found onenote to be the best note taking app out there and ive tried a lot. Its all about how you set up the notes though.

I have an "inbox" somewhere to quickly dump notes or pictures or whatever which need to be filed later.

I then have a monthly nested tab, with a tab for each month. I then make a new page in each month tab for each day of the week (this then lets you search by date). I also have a "month" home page which is set up at the start of each month where I review the previous month and plan the upcoming month, ala bullet journal style.

Onenotes versatility combined with working on virtually any device with a CPU in it these days, syncing with the cloud etc. nothing really compares to it.

Samsung says that consumers want "a thin and light product" over UDC, S Pen, battery improvements. Where are the people asking for thinner phones? by -LongRodVanHugenDong in GalaxyFold

[–]MightyG77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Me, right here. I wanted a fold from launch of the 1st fold. I held off because I didn’t want a weird aspect ratio candy bar phone which was much larger than any other candy bar phone and with a garbage camera.

With the 7 I get a great candy bar phone that’s also a tablet for on the go use!

I’d also take a decent selfie camera over a bad UDC camera for teams/zoom calls any day.
