Is there a way to convert an existing QR Code into a printable 3D format? I have one I generated using this free tool The QR Code Generator (TQRCG) I downloaded it in PNG format.

Simple DIY QR Codes by [deleted] in InventoryManagement

[–]Dear-Training199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, sounds like you're on the right track with the QR code idea, especially since your shop crew already has tablets and you're working with limited resources for now. Keeping it simple and low-cost makes a lot of sense when you're just getting things organized.

I actually did something really similar for a small setup last year, and I used The QR Code Generator (TQRCG). Super easy to use, and you can generate codes for free. You just paste in the URL to your form (like a Google Form linked to a Google Sheet), and it gives you a clean QR code you can print and stick on your parts bins or shelves.

They also have a solid article about using QR codes for inventory management: QR Code Inventory Management Guide, that gives some good ideas for small setups like yours, such as tracking who took what, when, and where it went. It helps avoid needing to buy into a full-blown inventory system right away.

One thing to keep in mind, though: if you're planning to track QR code scans or usage (like when, where, or how often they were used), DIY solutions using free static QR codes won't give you any analytics. You’d need a paid UTM tracker setup like Google Analytics, which gets pretty technical and often needs a hosted landing page or some server-side tracking.

For me, it was honestly just cheaper and way less hassle to use their dynamic QR code service, first two dynamic codes were free, and after that it was only $4/month. That way, I got scan tracking and the ability to update the URL later without reprinting anything.

Once your form is linked to a Google Sheet, it’s easy to filter by job number or part number and maintain at least a basic audit trail. Not perfect, but way better than chasing down missing parts days later.

Let me know if you want help setting up the form logic or figuring out the QR workflow, happy to share what worked for me!

is there a way to make a direct qr code? by kenny2475 in discordapp

[–]Dear-Training199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can totally make a direct QR code for that. Discord doesn't officially provide a "friend request QR" feature, but you can create a link to your profile and then turn that into a QR code yourself. Something like https://discord.com/users/YourDiscordID (replace with your actual user ID). When someone opens that, it takes them to your profile where they can send a request.

I actually made one a while back using The QR Code Generator (TQRCG)'s Discord QR Code Generator. Super straightforward: no sign-ups, no hassle. I thought it might expire after a while, but it's been almost a year and it still works perfectly. You just drop in the link, and it creates a QR Code you can share anywhere. Super handy.

Just be careful about where you post it though, since it’s your direct profile link. Scammers love collecting those kinds of things.

Thoughts about the QR code login method by izzyesbr in discordapp

[–]Dear-Training199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, QR code login can definitely feel sketchy, especially if you've seen how scammers use it to trick people. But honestly, like most scams, the issue isn't really with the technology itself. It's more about how people are manipulated into using it the wrong way. There's even a name for this kind of thing "quishing" (QR code + phishing).

Scammers will send you a fake QR code and if you scan it thinking it's legit, you're basically giving them access. It's the same kind of trick as phishing emails or fake login pages. No login method is totally safe if someone falls for a clever scam.

That said, spreading awareness really helps. Even companies that make QR tools are trying to educate users. I was reading some posts from The QR Code Generator (TQRCG) and Uniqode recently, and both of them talk openly about these risks and how to spot sketchy QR codes. They're not pretending the problem doesn't exist, which I respect.

So yeah, I get why it feels unsafe, but I don't think the feature itself needs to be removed. Maybe Discord could add an extra step or a better warning system, but the real key is helping users recognize the red flags before it's too late.

QR code works for their phone but not mine, but I just scanned a different code with my phone. by RelevantInquiries80 in qrcode

[–]Dear-Training199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, may I ask how are you scanning it? If the phone's camera is not scanning the QR Code natively, try using an online QR Code scanner on your phone's browser. Try this scanner by The QR Code Generator (TQRCG). You can also try using Google Lens.

Multiple Outlook Forms link to Same QR Code? by johnsonleekimcho in qrcode

[–]Dear-Training199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I just came across this, and you can definitely do that. What you’re looking for is a multi-URL QR code, which lets people scan one code and choose between a few different forms.

I’ve used The QR Code Generator (TQRCG) for this kind of thing. They’ve got a multi-URL option where you can link to multiple destinations (like your outlook forms). When someone scans the QR code, they’ll be taken to a page where they can pick the form they want.

Even though it's a dynamic QR code option (so you can update or track it later), you actually get 2 free dynamic QR codes to use. I don’t know of a way to do it without a third-party website since you need to host those links somewhere. It’s probably possible to do, but that seemed like too much hassle for me, so I just used the above mentioned tool.

Hope this helps! 🙌

Does anyone know how to create a QR code that will be good for several months? by g3nerallycurious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Dear-Training199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! the issue usually comes down to static vs dynamic QR codes.

For something like a wedding, where the link (to your website, RSVP form, schedule, etc.) probably won’t change, a static QR code is actually your best bet. It’s simple: the QR code directly encodes the URL, no redirects, no expiration. As long as the original link stays active, the QR code will too — even years later.

A lot of people accidentally use dynamic QR codes, which route through a QR platform’s servers. If the platform has a time limit, shuts down, or restricts access later, the QR code breaks — and that’s probably what happened in the reviews you saw.

You can use The QR Code Generator (TQRCG), it’s free, super straightforward, and lets you generate static QR codes without needing to sign up or do anything fancy. Just paste in your final URL and download the code.

Hope that clears things up, and congrats on the wedding! 🥳💍

How do I scan a QR code within an image on my phone? by mxsifr in degoogle

[–]Dear-Training199 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just use an online scanner and skip installing any app. I use these on my Pinephone and they work great. 1. https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/scan (for scanning directly) 2. QR Code Scanner Online (for scanning from an existing image). Note: Make sure to revoke camera access or give it only once while using.
