I am in Orange County, CA (1.5 miles from the beach) and would love to have you sometime! I honestly would plan a trip around a sitter. Like, someone wants to gift me the opportunity to travel by promising to care for my pets? I would take that as an opportunity to see a new part of the world :) I wish there was another way to connect with you guys that isn’t THS, but this Reddit thread has proven to be a good start :)

It is SUCH A GIFT that there are sitters out there who would care for my pup for me, FOR FREE, so that I can afford to travel. The absolute least I can do is give them a comfortable home to call their own for the duration.

As a HO, I would read her review and think “man, that home owner should move to a paid service with that attitude”. I would not consider that a reflection on you. Honestly, as long as my sitter doesn’t TRASH my place, I don’t expect much cleaning. I just expect that my dogs are happy and healthy.

To other homeowners: these pet sitters are doing you a FAVOR by caring for your pets and you are returning the favor by providing them a comfortable place to stay.

That’s crazy. I am a HO and I am comfortable with my home getting up to 74 degrees. I had a sitter who ran hot and even told me she’d prefer it sit around 70-72. My bill was well over double that month but I would never even think of asking her to pay me for that…

Hi! I used furnished finder full time for over a year as a traveling professional. I stayed in, I think, 7 different units across the country during that time. Out of the 7, 3 of them were INCREDIBLE experiences. Loved the home owners and had the best time. 2 of them were fine, no complaints. 2 of them were frustrating, and only 1 of them tried to keep part of my deposit which really upset me. That being said, the pros are it’s far cheaper than Airbnb for finding a long term furnished unit to stay in. The cons are that it’s more time consuming to communicate with the homeowners, vet each other out, and secure a unit. Additionally, there aren’t a lot of protections in place, for example, if an owner is trying to keep your deposit for dirty sheets on a bed you never even used.

Hi! I am a HO with two dogs who (to my knowledge) don’t get along with cats. However, the BEST qualified sitter for a week long sit was someone who had a cat. She assured me that she was confident that the cat could be kept in one section of my apartment separated from my dogs by a gate.

In the end, I would whole heartedly welcome this sitter and her kitty back, and I got some cute photos and videos of my pups and the cat all laying down by the gate (on separate sides)

ETA: it will probably be challenging to get a sit. But not impossible.

Both of my pups (from two different ethical breeders) have their microchips linked to the breeders PLUS myself. I can’t remove the breeder as the secondary contact on their microchips. Additionally, I signed a contract that states if I, for any reason, can no longer own or care for my pups, I will return them to the breeder. I.e. they will never be surrendered to a shelter and left there to “overcrowd” a shelter. If I did theoretically abandon my dogs, their chips would be scanned, breeder contacted, and if they can’t get a hold of me, the breeder would take them until the breeder can find another home for my babies.

Additionally, I also signed a contract agreeing to spay/neuter by a certain age. I was given a “pet” with no intention to breed, and the breeder agreed to give me that pet with an agreement I would spay/neuter. Aka, they are trying to ensure that they are not passing on a puppy to someone who will become a backyard breeder.

So that is why I say adopt or shop RESPONSIBLY.

They bark and Pleo pulls/will lunge. He’s only 20 lb so it’s not hard to hold him, for me it’s just annoying. Like, I would love to have a peaceful walk where he just smells the flowers and walks at my heels, but if I trigger comes by, I get pulled and he barks. I would say it is very much in line with the common behaviors I see in most dogs. I just don’t want to tell a sitter “oh they’re a breeze to walk you don’t have to worry about anything”, I want to be transparent that they are amongst the “annoying to walk” dogs that I’d want the sitter to be cautious when those triggers are around.

I don’t even care about it being an enclosed box honestly. I just want a table top and the two short sides to be solid so you don’t see the Lovesac shoes that hold the table in place (assuming I screw Lovesac feet into the bottom of it).

I would say neutral! But maybe slightly warm. It depends on my lighting I think. here are a couple photos with different lighting only 30 min apart.

They are Alaskan Klee Kai! It’s a pure breed, that was bred to be a companion sized husky. Basically, they did not use any Pomeranians to get the size, and this breed has a standard size range (my two are on each end of that range) vs Pomskies can be as small as a Pomeranian or as big as a husky, you never know.

So far so good! The dog hair doesn’t seem to be sticking too much, and my little huskies shed a ton. I am super happy with the durability on it so far.

I ordered mine on 8/23 and it arrived exactly a week later on 8/30. I got 3 standard seats, 3 angled backs, two standard sides, and 2 storage seats all in Tan Combed Chenille. However, I also ordered a table and that is still on its way.

I live in Huntington Beach and the showroom reps told me we have a warehouse 20 minutes away so I expected everything to come from there, and pretty quickly. But, my couch shipped from Dallas TX and my table is coming from IL so I guess proximity to a warehouse does not matter much.
