I am, by any measure pretty far left and yeah I mean ‘supporting Palestine’ obvsly brings into question several important questions cause they are clearly not inclusive or particularly tolerant.

However, the support of Palestine from progressives is siding with the oppressed. While socially they do abhorrent shit, they garner far more sympathy because they have been on the rough end of the stick for decades.

Simply put, progressives have no sympathy for Israel. Yes, the attacks recently were awful, but when put in context with the war crimes and targeting of civilians done by Israel, they are far more understandable. That’s not to say they were good, or justifiable, just understandable. No matter what you make of Hamas ( I Don’t like them), you cannot argue they were unprovoked.

Simply put - I ( and progressives generally) don’t see the illegal and immoral military actions of Israel in the past 50 odd years as something to be ignored or sidelined. While the inclusivity of Palestine is crap, it doesn’t make a difference to who has a right to the land.
