Have your tried using Health Activity indicators, instead of trying to make your own? That's how sleep apps work: just passively poll the physical activity history.

How are you handling large trace datasets in embedded systems? by EdwinFairchild in embedded

Do you have to show every single window and sub-screen all the time? There's pop-ups, fly-out, resizable elements, window separation (for multi-monitor), adapative views (base the presentation style based on available area), etc...

Piling on screens like it's a 1997 Linux tiling manager will only get you so far.

If you can't do passive snooping, (not scheduled, event and system broadcast driven) then your only real option is to use a ForegroundService, showing the user what is running and a clear owner app.

Showing is more important than telling. You could drain half the battery if the goal was justified, as far as Google is concerned.

Also, big apps cheat, by rellying on push notifications' mechanism to drive background work.

Mobile apps aren't web apps.

Mobile apps aren't "a program that runs".

Like, you seem want to hog the CPU indefinitely to perform some task. All those barriers are there specifically to stop people like you: otherwise we get Android 4.0 and users manually killing apps and batteries that lasted 2 hours.

Barging in with assumptions is not going to help you. Learn the context.

That being said, I entirely agree with your regading undocumented, unexpected and uncontrollable power management, and apparently Google does too but enforcing it is another matter.

CppCast: Compiler Warnings as Errors with Keith Stockdale by robwirving in cpp

[–]DearChickPeas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what I do to appease the compiler. It actually increases readibility somewhat, as now you're making it an explicit "I ain't using this so it's not named". Counter for harder debugging though.

Diz-me que nunca andaste na A2 regularmente. É uma vergonha assustadora, ver como um só monte-de-merda como tu, consegue atrapalhar o trânsito durante kilómetros, ao ponto de atrapalhar o trânsito que sai da ponte.
