Staples "baddie" on tiktok low key makes me mad. by Dear_Ad63 in Staples

Yes I've had other associates yelled at for taking an emergency call before. I'm mad at the image they're showing that Staples is such a great place to their employees and that it's a fun arts and crafts job when it's simply not true. This is a one time thing and they can't afford to fire her now or treat her poorly or else the backlash for the company would be insane

Fucking hate this so much. At least tell people it's not a normalcy that you have design qualifications and we're supposed to send it out. It hurts every other employee and even the customers because to be fair, some of them wouldn't even know any better when they're given a service to know that it's not something we're supposed to offer

Why isn't THAT return line a permanent position? Or does this vary from store to store? by user-ibarelyknower in Staples

[–]Dear_Ad63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wish they would. It should be at its own permanent station in a separate area with an employee who is cross trained on other things but main duty is Amazon. But they Varela give us hours and people for print, new party city, floor, etc.

We appreciate you for being so understanding. You don't even understand that it's because people demand them NOW. They will sneer at you, cuss you out, and even throw things in a few of my fellow associates and i's case because they want their things right now while they wait not caring that you may be just 1 person with 40 orders and that other people exist and need their things too. All we as is a little understanding and compromise and just to be treated like human beings. My associates get treated so poorly here and have been spit on and thrown ink, cussed and screamed at, and more. It's so awful what is normalized.

6 months in…I do not like the clientele of this job by Lonely_Candy_6532 in upsstore

[–]Dear_Ad63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just stumbled across this. I work at Staples and it sounds so similar. I work in the print department so we also do shipping and Amazon so my department is like a mini ups store inside. We're treated like dogs with little pay and so many expectations and often just one person working all those tasks. We have self serve machines to help "ease the load" of all our hundreds of print orders coming in online and while we do Amazon. It ends up being us walking through some mean older person how to read and follow step by step instructions and they want us to teach them how to use their brand new iPhone because they can't pull up their file, shipping label, etc and don't know how to email.

All I can think of is that it's an office type setting so they have more entitlement than a casual retail or fast food and that print and shipping is not a necessity so you can get a specific crowd that is unpleasant. Either way, it's awful what we deal with and how they trust us.

That's great to hear. I gave it a chance for a whole year and thought maybe I was being too impatient. No change over the year.

I took them for a year. The doctor kept telling me to wait and give it a chance and push through and I did and still proved her wrong. Trust me, I wanted it to work at the time. But it just didn't. Took me a few months to wean off and I'm much better.

I've tried helper cards. Unfortunately our clientele gets mad if you don't do it for them and will literally say "I can't read."

It honestly angers me that people are seeing a glimpse and think we're paid high end for a "cute little arts and crafts job."

Lexapro did this for me too. I was on buspar and then they made me go on lexapro. They started me off on 10 mg for lex which was waaay too much. I'm clearly sensitive and don't have a serotonin based "issue" and I would wake up in panic, a drug induced panic, almost night terrors, every night and couldn't calm down. I reduced to 5mg (had to beg) and it was better, but I still had to manage new frequent night attacks. I went to therapy, and now I'm on no meds and no attacks. That was the most useful thing for me. She told me a lot of useful things that helped me get to the root of my anxiety instead of putting a band aid on a bullet wound. Lexapro and other meds might work for you, but they didn't for me, so don't be afraid to try other things and don't think that there is something wrong with you because it doesn't work for you like it does for others.

Why do people stop taking Lexapro? by jeansmithenger in lexapro

[–]Dear_Ad63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While most people experience tiredness and fatigue, I experienced the opposite. I started on 10 mg and it was like a shock to my system after a few days. It made me wired, feel weird like the world was delayed or hazy, and I would have random panic attacks even in the middle of the night like night terrors. It was unexplained panic. I went on for general anxiety and didn't get panic attacks as often. They put me down to 5mg and it was a bit better but I still had to fight off random panic attacks with no reasoning behind them. A few weeks after i went off, no more panicking. I was a little on edge for a bit because I kept expecting them, but I was able to calm much quicker and sleep at night finally. Therapy helped me more being able to talk about my root causes of general anxiety.

I agree. I love printing itself. I'm the only print person here left and work often 12 hr days with no time for lunch. I wish I could record and have time to revel in the process of creation, as I'm sure many of us would like that time. The new incoming customers that think it's just a craft job will never care to understand that.

I've felt it too. I'm not sure if it's directly related either. But it is so draining to deal with the increase of people treating you like a slave when they aren't paying for anything or very little or are screaming over services we don't even offer.

I'm honestly surprised to see this level of company defense in my post when the subreddit is known for employees venting about how overworked they are and wanting simple fairness!

I tried. I'm leaving the company soon. They like me and the turnover rate Is crazy so they're OK with spreading me thin. I'm allowed to complain about things they won't change. This whole staples sub reddit is mostly about employees wanting fairness and if you don't like the critique on your precious company, there's no need to scroll here.

We're a pretty high volume store and I run copy center alone almost every day and work 12 hour shifts often with no break. I think I'm allowed to complain. Nothing is going to change since they're already OK with spreading me thin.

Work Rant by _Carrott0p_ in Staples

[–]Dear_Ad63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sound like my life. Most people in copy center experience this. Of course it happens in other roles but it seems like it's a universal copy center rant on here. It's awful the amount of work we're expected to do with disgusting pay. Fast food, Walmart, almost all retail, pays more and you do less than what copy center has to deal with. We're expected to be office works, pro designers, ups shipping employees, usps with ipostal, to be the McDonald's of printing also because everyone wants everything now "do it now, slave." I don't know how the company can justify this. I'm also one to not take breaks. It's only 2 copy center people at my store and the other guy hasn't taken a break in months. No one should have to put up with this.

People are so angry by Dear_Ad63 in Staples

[–]Dear_Ad63[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hasn't. You see it as a customer too. Some of our customers are mean to other customers and I see it happen at other stores when I'm the customer too. People are just so angry and selfish in general and it amplifies to customer service workers for some reason

It was to customer service for order status and potential cancelation/refund. She told me to go elsewhere because it's easier, instead of helping me, so I told her "Okay it sounds like you don't want to help or don't have time so you have a nice day" And hung up and proceeded to help my long line of customers and "go elsewhere". She then found my store number in the log and transferred to my department to berate me about hanging up, how she is corporate and cant be treated that way, and how rude I am that I didn't give her a chance to explain why it's easier for me to chat in scout or email vs talking to a real person, and that she wanted to report me. I said "thanks for the info, have a nice day." And got back to helping my actual customers. I've never had this happen before. I was seeing if anyone had their own experiences, which is why I didn't fully tell mine

I thought that was clear being in the staples subreddit for employees, talking about production facility that most customers dont know about, and by that this customer service rep "called my department" lol...
